    Ho Ho Ho

Maybe this will be the Christmas I finally get those Lincoln Logs I always wanted.
  2. Having left TWI close to 20 years ago, I did not get involved in the cruel sorts of things that have been described here. I wasn't even aware of much of this until I came to GSC. We were young, idealistic and out to save the world, so to speak, back in the 1970s. By the 1980s, I was drifting with the tide until, finally, in about 1990 I found myself having drifted out to sea. Still, I'm sure I did damage by teaching the stupid "Law" of believing and other damaging doctrines and by bringing people into the ministry. I never did anything out of malice or self promotion.(as far as I know) I really believed that what I was doing was helping people. I think there are probably countless others here who share that sentiment. There are a few people here at GSC who knew me back in the "real time" days of TWI and know who I am. If I somehow hurt those people, I would welcome the opportunity to say I'm sorry. But, the concept of sweeping it under the carpet and pretending it never happened is not something I can find myself agreeing with.
  3. Hi there, Bumpy I don't mind the intrusion. I think that you have raised a valid point. There are people who don't believe that our thinking and behavior was controlled. Perhaps some can't understand the reality of that because their thinking and behavior wasn't. (controlled) Perhaps some others can't understand because they are really still being influenced by this thought control. I don't know. Our conditioning began as early as session #7 of the PLAF class. (Ironic that the number 7 supposedly has a Biblical significance of perfection.) Eve considered what the serpent said and responded to him.(Engaged in a discourse) Thus the seeds of thought were planted in us that to consider or reply to doubts we had was somehow parallel to the downfall of Eve. ie: Never allow yourself to consider that there might be something wrong with what you are being taught or the manner in which you are expected to behave. That will be your downfall just as it was for Eve. If you do, in fact, have doubts, you must force your mind to disregard them.(TWI version of Renewed Mind.) It's a form of self delusion. When outsiders would suggest to me that I was self deluded, I could actually convince myself that I WASN'T being self deluded. That's like "self deluded-squared". I think you can see both varieties of people who don't understand that concept here. The ones who are still being influenced by that doctrine are the ones who are most likely to cover their eyes and ears, kind of like the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" line of thinking. I think the farther removed one became from their local level, the more intense this conditioning became. Take that a step even further and put people into a communal living situation and the effects become much more intensified. I'm not sure if that makes any sense but that's my take on it.
  4. Don't think I know this one. ;)
  5. SHHHHHHHH! Let's just keep it "our little secret". No one needs to know what REALLY happened, now do they?
  6. HaHaHaHa That was really quite "fowl"! (But I enjoyed it.) There are more instructions in the computer room as well as the music lovers thread on how to embed youtube.
  7. waysider A name that could be applied to any Fellow Laborer who frequented The Wayside Truck Stop with some degree of regularity. Thus, I am not Waysider(with a capital W) nor am I THE waysider. I am, in fact, just one of MANY waysiders.
  8. I've been out of TWI for quite a few years but I never heard of that one. Is it perhaps another name for CF&S that was a local idiom?
  9. Well, actually, I remember this being in the class in the mid 1970s. In fact, VP said that if you do this without your spouse, it is an indication you are having marital problems. Personally, I think he was using that to give some sort of credence to his theory that the original sin was masturbation "and then some". Remember, he said he had no scriptural proof and that we would "just have to trust" him on this one. Thirty five years later I'm still no closer to understanding what the heck any of this could have had to do with Biblical research. Consider, also, that society was in the midst of a sexual revolution at the time. This class was presented on the heels of the highly successful book, Joy of Sex by Alex Comfort. Could Wierwille have been trying to capitalize on a market demand that he recognized? I don't think we will ever know for certain. ( at least not in this lifetime)
  10. That would be Fr!tz Win3g@rner, M.D., a general surgeon(I think), who was also VPW's personal doctor and attended to him in his final days. From all accounts I have heard, he was always an upright kind of guy. There is someone who posts here regularly who worked in his practice and knew him well. He was probably recruited to appear in the sessions to lend an air of credibility to the class. That certainly does not make him a "bad guy". I think he got "played" just like the rest of us.

We need to get Tom Strange in on this 'cause it just wouldn't be a "real' band without bongo's.
  12. waysider checking in, here. When I read CoolChef's post, I took it to mean: (paraphrasing) "If you did this today, you should be jailed. ------not------- "If you did this, today you should be jailed. Darn those pesky comma's. I agree with the first statement, not the second.

Well, that's "Flatlanders" for ya. HA! Just happened to think about this------ People on the east side of the state, along THE river, don't say "y'all", they say, "y'ins". What's up with that?
  14. We acted out our lives on stages. 10,000 people watching. But we're alone now and I'm singing this song for you--------------Leon Russell Don't remember if that's the title. I think the Dylan tune DID get airplay so I'm throwing in the towel to Tom Strange. Re: Strange lyrics. Remember the Rascals tune, Groovin'? There's a place where they say, " You and me endlessly." Even though I knew it couldn't be right, it always sounded to me like they said, "You and me and Leslie." I knew that was way too racy for 1967 or 1968 but I couldn't figure out what they were saying.

I have never personally eaten 'possum but I suspect the answer to that would be relative to their diet ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Opossum Diet Here is a list of some of the things that opossums will eat in the wild. * All green and yellow vegetables * Quantities of grass * Most types of fruit * Carrion * Snails, slugs, and worms of all types * Insects, flies, earwings and roaches etc. * Rats and mice * Snakes * Amphibians * Eggs * Crayfish and other fish if available * Cetain types of dog and cat food if left outside to feed someone's pets * In captivity they like all kinds of juices from---------------- www. squirrel-rehab.org
  16. I agree, CC. Of course, life was quite different 30 or 35 years ago. Laws regarding this issue have changed considerably as have public opinions. Still, the morality of this was essentially the same back then as it is today. There was no information presented in this class( minus the objectionable material we are referencing) that could not be found in secular, informational materials. On second thought, this was the only class I recall where Wierwille said God told him the nature of original sin. He went on to say he had no scriptural proof and that we would have to just take his word for it. Yikes!---That should have been a massive red flag!!!!!
  17. ADOPTED! Yeah, never thought of it quite that way. Jesus was Joseph's step-son. If you do a google search, you will be amazed how many famous people were adopted as children. I have a good friend who was adopted as a child. He had, I think, five siblings who were all adopted from different families. None of them became celebrities, but they were a close knit and loving family. DNA seems to have been a moot point for them.
  18. Actually, my current dentist is quite good. I've also used this during local surgical procedures with good results. Another time I use it is when I find I have misplaced something. It seems to help me clear out distractions so I can recall where I left the sought after object. Again, not a Biblical application but useful none the less. Now as to TIP, I think the Way's teachings were waaaaaaaaay off the mark.
  19. I am embarrassed and ashamed that I was involved at both an assistant and instructor level in running this class. My heartfelt apology goes out to anyone who may have sat through a class that I was involved with. waysider
  20. DISCLAIMER! The following is not really about death, per se, and is strictly---JUST MY OPINION. I no longer believe that devil spirits are beings or creatures or whatever the correct term is. Still, I think they represent something that IS real. Example: Page 20 0f the Advanced Class syllabus states that alcoholism is caused by a DS named Leviathan. I don't believe that "Leviathan" is an actual being but rather a symbolic representation of something very real that takes place in the human psyche. Perhaps it even interacts at a so-called spiritual level. I don't know. Even so, I think it is representative of something real, though not a "being" or spiritual "entity". So then, even though it may really exist in a person's life, it is idiotic to think that simply ordering it to "be gone" will penetrate the complex network that surrounds the human mind. I'm not at all sure how any of that relates to the subject at hand, which is DEATH, other than we somehow got onto the subject of devil spirits infiltrating the mind at times of weakness, such as at the time one is having a near death experience. Sorry---- I'm just rambling again.
  21. Hi Nero I still speak in tongues silently. I find it it be an effective way to clear my mind and refocus. Here's an example: I'm sitting in the dentist's chair and the pain is intense. I start to speak in tongues to myself, not as a prayer or anything like that. I find that it tricks my mind into ignoring the pain. That's enough reason right there for me to keep it. I do think, however, that TWI was very wrong in what they taught about ALL of the so-called "manifestations". But-----That's just my opinion. OK--- Now it's my turn to feel silly. What the heck are XP and :3?

Rats are rodents! I don't mean that to sound like a personal slam, they just are. Opossum, on the other hand, are marsupials. You know, those critters that have a pouch where they keep their young'uns. Their related to kangaroos and wallabies and wombats. Now about this here hollerin' stuff. I always heard you should holler at a 'possum to stay away from your supper. If you saw some of the stuff they will eat, you definitely would think twice before tossing one in the stew pot. No, actually, "holler" is a slang term for "hollow" which is a valley nestled into the hills. It's used in this sense as a noun, not a verb. (Had to throw that in on account of the "research" aspect of our backgrounds.) There's also a place nearby known locally as Skunk Holler, though that is an unofficial name. Here's some more local "speak". Roastin' Ears---------That's corn that you put on the fire while it's still in the husk instead of cleaning and boiling it. Yum,Yum---That there's good eatin'!
  23. Thanks, JB That accident was 20 years ago. I've had similar experiences before and after. Guess I'm either accident prone or willing to take too many chances to put food on the table. Same thing every time, extreme instant sadness. Personally, what i think happens is that the body is confused by the abruptness of the trauma and starts sending out chemicals without examining the RX very closely. Thus too much of this, too little of that and so on. The thing I always laugh about when I watch those shows is this: Why would Aunt Minnie's spirit want to hide in my linen closet? I mean, it's a spirit, ya know? If I had freedom to go where ever I choose, I think I'd pick someplace other than a linen closet. Like someplace where I didn't have to look at white sheets all day.
