There's nothing easier I can do Than lyin' around doing nothing. ------------------- Things that are waiting to mess my mind Will just have to wait 'til tomorrow.

VPW was a sexual predator, a con-man, a drunkard and, as Mrs. W. said at his funeral, "He was a mean, mean man.". If Chas. Manson had made the above statement, would that make it any less true? Looks like you might be the one who is doing the "winking" here, John. Stop changing the subject. The theme of this thread is a discussion of sales techniques used to sell PLAF.

I sponsored 2 people at 10 dollars a month. When times started getting tough, I split the 10 dollars between the two. Just to keep things in perspective, I think I probably made something like $2.00 or $2.25 an hour at my "9-5" job. When the checks got smaller, the letters got fewer. I don't think there was really any way for them to monitor this accurately because it would have required assigning a FLO to do the monitoring since WE did all that type of work. We would have known who was given that chore. The monthly fee was another matter. There were 6 per house. Each of us paid $150. That's $900 a month.(Times 8 "houses".) There is just no way an apartment cost that kind of money in 1975, especially in the rural area where we were located. Yeah, there was the $6 fee too. ----No $6=No eat( Though you had to sit with those who did and could not accept sharing from anyone.) And, you had to buy your own lunch and do laundry with what little you had. It just kinda burns my butt that we where paying for the privilege to be poor. Anyway, I apologize for driving this so far off-topic. I think the original emphasis was on the actual contents that comprised the Corps application.

This became quite popular in parts of the US in the late sixties. At least it was where I lived. Alas, it's popularity was fleeting. I used to have my own pot and cups. "Calico Blue", I think, was the pattern. I used to use a "tea ball". Is that cheating? Jasmine and Orange-Clove were my favorites. I enjoyed the aroma as much as the flavor. There is something positive to be said for the distraction from normal activity that is required for preparation.

Sudo For what it's worth: I always enjoy the clips but I can't watch them on my own computer. I have to wait until I can access my son's computer to view them. And posting something of my own(beyond youtube) is a whole other matter. Just wanted you to know your efforts are not unappreciated.

Didn't Rosemary's Boo-Boo predate this by a couple years? I never really saw the whole movie(on account of I went to see it at the Drive-In. ) Lookin' back, though, you would think Rosemary's Babushka would have put a serious damper on any activity that was known to take place at the Drive-In.

I thought The Bumpy-One was in Senegal. Guess I was mistaken. Oh well, I'll get over it.

When I was in Fellow Laborers, part of the agreement was that we would each sponsor someone in the corps. Bottom line is: 1.We payed to be in the FL program. No pay------------ 2.We had to work secular jobs so we could ABS. 3.We spent nearly every free hour doing limb work for free. AND 4.We had to sponsor someone in the corps. If this wasn't a money making scheme, I'll be a monkey's prayer partner!!

Soft summer breeze and the surf rolls in To laughter of small children playing Someone's radio has the news tuned in But nobody cares what he's saying.

Just tell me your shoe size, dear lady, and I'll see to it that there's a pair of cowboy boots awaiting your arrival. (Can't promise they'll be red but I'll try.)

Hey there, Mike I'm hoping maybe you can help me with a problem. You see, in PFAL, Dr. teaches that revelation can never contradict the "written" Word if it has been "rightly divided". Well, PFAL is God-Breathed(ie: revelation) and yet there are portions of it that contradict the written Word. So the problem I have is this: Doesn't PFAL use its own system of logic to actually disqualify itself as being genuine revelation? Here's one that really has me baffled . AC syllabus/pg. 15 Word of Knowledge What it is not: 4. It is not a knowledge of God or His Word. This comes by study, learning and application of self. So now, if PFAL came by Word of Knowledge(God-Breathed revelation), then according to the definition in the AC class, it is not a knowledge of God or His Word. It would seem to follow then that it would be necessary for us to discount the PFAL class as an authoritative source of knowledge pertaining to God or His Word. I'm looking forward to your response. You don't have to get too detailed. Just a brief "synopsis" will do.

All You Zombies-----The Hooters(Cindy Lauper's back-up band) Tom WW posted these lyrics around Halloween so I don't feel right taking it. How about another one hit wonder?

Hi Larry Yeah, we Clevelanders got to see quite a few who went on to bigger things. Joe stepped into The James Gang to fill the guitar spot when Glenn Schwartz departed to join Pacific Gas and Electric. (Are You Ready?) And then there was Grand Funk, Bob Seger,(Detroit) Eric Carmen, Sonny Geraci, Glass Harp and, of course, The OJ's. If you are in that area, you might be interested to know that Glenn plays around town with his brother Gene(bass player for many years for Robert Lockwood) and they bill themselves as The Schwartz Brothers. Run For The Roses: Well, You probably know it's about the Kentucky Derby. I guess there's some kind of parallel to be drawn about working toward a goal. Last I heard, Dan Fogelberg(writer of said song) was fighting a battle against advanced prostate cancer.

Very good point, Thomas Maybe it should have been called, "Forcing our doctrines on the rest of the World" But then, of course the bumper stickers would have had to say, "FODOTROTW". (Not nearly as catchy as "WOW".)

Fundamentals of Greek Research-----Walter J. Cummins(25-30 pages) (Very basic, more like an overview than a lesson.) So You Want To Read Faster-----------Donald E. Wierwille(2 or 3 pages) Understanding What You Read---------Donald E. Wierwille(2 or 3 pages) (Probably the first 10 minutes of a high school English class lecture.) There was also a booklet called: Christian Etiquette------Dorothy Owens (Which we used in Fellow Laborers of Ohio) I always thought this one was pretty good when not viewed as some kind of "Law". If I remember correctly, it was one of the few of such booklets that seemed academically honest in that she made a full disclosure of her sources and didn't pretend these were her ideas or that they came by revelation. A couple more that I remember are: I Can Do All Things-----Peter J. Wade The Secret Of Radiant Living--Peter J. Wade The Spoken Word------Walter J. Cummins I'll keep looking. If I find them I will send you a PM.

Perhaps the VP apologists who are in denial that they were hoodwinked (like the rest of us) are the ones who really need to----------- Get over it! He was a con artist, fellas, a flim-flam man. He was no modern day David or Paul. His so-called "ministry" was a self serving business designed to satisfy his own personal lusts. He did so at your expense, in case you hadn't noticed. Wallow in your self delusion if that's your choice. Personally, I think you VP idolaters are the ones who really need to ----------- Get over it!

This thread sure has gone a long way from discussing sales tactics for PFAL to comparing VPW with actual men of God. Seeing how twisted some of the graduates turned out, makes me regretful I ever signed up ANYBODY! Maybe these VPW worshipers could put their heads together and start a "Why I worship VPW" thread.

Mustard just doesn't get that big here in the Midwest. Maybe it did in Bible times. Maybe it didn't. Who knows? What bothers me, is that Pillai said he had seen this plant, alive and thriving, in the twentieth century. How come nobody else did? Anyway, it's a parable. It's not meant to be accepted as literal fact anyhow. That's how parables work. Maybe the very fact that mustard doesn't grow that big is an integral element of the parable. Dunno.

Ed Cassidy----------- Yeah---------That's the Spirit!!!

Hi Mike Not sure I understand the spiritual "significance" of that cartoon on post #86. Perhaps you could expound on the finer points of the illustrations. Or maybe just give a "synopsis" of sorts. (I already "get" the text portions.) ps. Have you named that pony yet?

Off topic (kinda) Jorma has a place "down the road" from here called Fur Peace Ranch. He brings in big name performers and runs guitar workshops along with his old Hot Tuna buddy, Jack Cassady. But alas, the last time I checked, they had no workshops planned to study the finer points of bongo drums. Sigh!

Yup I think I might have them somewhere. Not sure. There was another one about understanding Greek, as well. I'm not sure I would label them collaterals. Maybe peripherals would be more accurate. OK, I know that's a silly little point. I just meant that they are not related to the PFAL class, specifically, like the other materials that are considered collaterals. I'll try to see if I still have them but it's been a long time and several moves since I saw them.
