There are two things that I have seldom seen addressed in detail here on GSC. 1. Sexual abuse or harassment of men by other men. (not the same as adult men abusing male children) In an organization as large as TWI, it seems like the possibility that it happened is likely. Add to that the lust by some individuals to attain higher ranking status in the organization and it doesn't seem impossible. I had a guy come on to me once at ROA. It was subtle and ambiguous. Plus, I didn't want to think that what I was seeing was accurate. (Can't think bad things about a brother in Christ, now, can we?) Of course, today, I would probably see EXACTLY what his intentions were without trying to deny the reality. I don't have anything against the guy but my door doesn't swing that direction, for sure. 2. Sexual harassment of men by women. This is one that I personally saw. While I was in FLO, a single WC female who was acting as an area leader or something, had designs on a married FLO man. She frequently leveraged her Corps status to make sure she found herself in situations where there was no one but the two of them present. Kinda like the motor coach strategy. She also used her status to suggest that he should do what she said if he wanted to advance himself into higher leadership positions. I know this because his wife confided in me. (She was furious!) When I discussed it with him, it was the same old mumbo-jumbo about how "even suspecting such a thing" was a sign of "unrenewed mind". I don't think he wanted to admit to himself what was really happening and I don't believe anything ever really did. God knows she sure tried, though. He had absolutely no interest in her but she constantly persisted in trying. I'm not sure HOW or even IF that fits here. edited for grammar.

John You haven't answered my question. What is the reference you are using to show that Wierwille made that statement ? edited because I accidentally "omitted" a word.

Yo, Seth Just wanted to let you know I wasn't poking fun at your question. Actually, your motivation in asking it seems to have some real merit. VP probably would have been pickled tink if he could have been associated with a real genuine "secret society". After all, he was all the time trying to promote his "ministry" as the appointed keepers of "the greatest secret in the world today", now wasn't he? Yeah, we could have called ourselves the Sacred Hierarchy of Interpretation and Tongues. Do I really need to call attention to the fact that an appropriate acronym describing The Way could thus be drawn from that name?

John would you be so kind as to direct me to the reference that shows that this( the bolded section) is what VP said? On page 62 of the syllabus I have in front of me, VP states that(I'm paraphrasing) if you know how to speak in tongues but don't, you are ignorant. I don't think he meant that in a Biblical sense. He meant it as a derogatory barb aimed at people who did not speak in tongues. The scriptures he uses to stress his point are found in I Corinthians 14. This is stressed again in the Intermediate Class and again he uses the "ignorance" argument in a belittling manner. Then, in the Advanced Class, he (VP) says on page 10(item #3) that "speaking in tongues daily is a prerequisite to revelation." Did you know anyone who did not desire to operate revelation, John? It sounds to me like he was rendering an enticement to SIT daily if you wanted to "grow". Again, I welcome a reference that illustrates your assertion.

Context, John, context. If you read Danny's statement in context, he is saying "Let me do what he(Jesus) did." (in relation to prayer) It's usually not beneficial to extend a statement beyond the parameters that have been set by its context.

Lindy Maybe you could add "I have since had an AHA! moment." Well, probably not in those exact words. Here's what I mean. Suppose a certain male Limb leader frequently had a female believer stay over for the weekend when his wife was out of town on ministry business. You know, to clean his house, etc. 30+ years ago, we were told it was wrong to consider anything was amiss and we should be ashamed to have such an "unrenewed mind" as to think otherwise. Of course, years later, it is revealed that the Limb leader was a (yet unknown) notorious womanizer. Thus, upon learning such information, one tends to see the little light bulb light up and exclaims---- AHA!!-----maybe it wasn't "unrenewed mind" on my part after all. Just a thought

Speaking in tongues and Interpretation and prophesy
waysider replied to Nero's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Hi Rachel Don't know if I have welcomed you yet so here goes---- WELCOME!! That is, indeed, an interesting approach to SIT and TIP. I have heard this tossed around before but don't remember where or when. Personally, I no longer have the motivation to do extensive studies of anything. I will say this, when we spoke in tongues and interpreted (TIP), there was a certain amount of focus that befell us as individuals. ie: "Look,Ma! I'm giving a message from/for God!" (The focus is on me) If it happened the way you are suggesting, the focus is no longer on me or even the hearer, for that matter. The focus would clearly be on God and what He is able to do. From a logical standpoint, that does make more sense than having us be some kind of freak show. -
Do you need to make an appointment or does she already know when you will arrive?

Hi JJ (It's easier to type but I'll change it if you don't like it.) The "deleted" reference concerns post #732. Suffice it to say, it involves a situation that occurred before you arrived. If I gave you any more detail than that, you would probably do this:

I was glued to The Winter Classic. Sid "The Kid" Crosby and his Penguins took out the Sabres in a hard fought game that ended in a shootout. 70,000 fans braving 20 degree weather with the wind whipping snow in their faces. That's dedication!! (or insanity---take your pick)

"Fraulein Veysider"--------- Don't supposed you noticed my avatar? (Ya know, a BOY and his dog?) Hey, Bumps, When you get that "cap lock" thing fixed on your keyboard, you might want to have them check out the "word reversal key", too. Looks like it somehow changed the word "good" in Rhino's post to "bad" in your paste. Well, I suppose it might be caused by the "according to current vernacular key", now that I think about it. Hey,now, here's a thought. It says he changed water to wine but doesn't give any indication it was only one type. Maybe there were several varieties represented. I mean, turning water to wine is cool, but turning it into a single variety that pleases the whole crowd would be a true achievement.

Bumpy, Bumpy, Bumpy Don't you "get it"? You can't start a thread, subtitle it "whiners need not apply" and then expect expert "winers" to come to the interview.

Cheer up Chas., only 79 + change to go.(days, that is.)

Mo I can only speak for myself. I sure missed your posts when you weren't around.

Pond The------------ is put there automatically. It separates the text in your post from the text in your "signature". If you click on "My Control Panel" at the top, it will take you to your controls. Once you are there, find "Personal Profile" in the left column. Click on "edit signature" and type in your signature of choice. Then it will put your own "signature" at the end of each post. Is that what you were referring to?

Bumpy Jukin' is what happens at a "juke joint".(that covers a lot of ground, eh?) The "magic land" is a place that only exists in a song. Or is it? ---Hmmmmm? Now the wine----I guess I'll have to blow the dust off my Bible and see what the meal consisted of. Perhaps the clue lies therein. One thing we know for sure is that it wasn't a "vintage" selection.

Happy New Year, Bumpy Yeah, I get what you're sayin' Still, the same argument could probably be made for letters(remember when people wrote on paper?) or for phone conversations.(Hey, it's just some kind of electronic signal that travels through a wire or thin air, in the case of cell phones.) Sure, it's not real but it represents something that is. But hey, If VP said it, that settles it!! Note: No humans (or tigers) were hurt in the typing of this post.

Happy New Year, PB!! (And everybody else, too.)
