  1. Not sure if I ever mentioned this before but the man was a huckster and a common con man. It's comical, really, comparing him to someone of Biblical stature.
  2. Apples and oranges? More like comparing the Son of God and other Biblical figures to a delusional, amoral, drunken con man who made absolutely no lasting impact on the history of The World aside from those folks who were touched by his so-called "ministry". Comparing "this stuff never happened" to "the act of forgiveness" is the real apples and oranges in this discussion.
  3. I, too, remember hearing that explanation of doulos. (ie; the 7 years, earring, etc.) Doing a very quick check here, I see that duolos does not seem to appear at all in the OT. It is used predominantly in the Gospels. I find myself wondering if, perhaps, that teaching about "free slaves" didn't originate in some of the Orientalisms material. It might be interesting to see if that description is indeed accurate or has any application to the body of Christ in this day and time.
  4. I know it's ELP but I can't recall the title right now.
  5. I think that pretty much says it for me as well.
  6. I don't think I REALLY left mentally until I came here and found out what had been going on. Until then, I was completely in the dark about much of it. Physically, I left drifted away in about 1990 or 91.
  7. Sounds like a plenty good enough reason to me. :)
  8. I'm drawing a blank on this one.
  9. When I was very "new in the Word", I went witnessing with a local leader(male) in a nearby bar. As we sat at a table, witnessing to two attractive young ladies, he brought up the subject of "believing". At one point, he turned to one of the young ladies and said, "believing is a verb and a verb connotes ACTION!". I don't know what ACTION means in other parts of the country, but it has a rather provocative connotation where I am from. It was rather amusing to watch him try to bring the conversation back to the Bible.
  10. Nice stuff, A la I enjoyed that one a lot. Thx
  11. Calling all fellow laborers. Can you think of one single time that VPW came to a FL night or visited our housing or came to limb to observe our work progress or did a phone hook-up thing or sent some kind of written communication expressing his awareness of our efforts? He was only about 2 hours away. He could have even flown into that little airport on Rt 42 in Ambassador One if he wanted to. Maybe he did. I don't know. It sure wasn't in the 3 years I spent there, though. But, hey!! I forgive him (for failing to even acknowledge our existence.) And you know why? 'Cause he was such a swell guy!!!! Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!
  12. Thanks for that info, washn'wear. I haven't stopped by the home page for a while. (Guess I should have, huh?) That's some sickening information. There is no honor among thieves. I was long gone by that time.(1998) I was really thinking more along the lines of the time frame that encompassed all the conspiracy theories. (mid 1970's). That's when VP "allegedly" (trying to keep everybody happy here) had a direct and personal relationship with Liberty Lobby. I know TWI was very secretive with their financial records so it might be impossible to ever know unless there is something in LL's records to make the connection.(Don't know how secretive they were in that regard.) But it would really frost me to find out the sacrifices I made were supporting an organization that was so extremely contrary to my personal beliefs. That would certainly qualify as a hoax. Not psychological, perhaps, but very cruel and ironic.
  13. Remember when transistor radios hit the market? If you held it just right you could get a station to come in clear as a bell.Maybe it was the first place you heard Aretha Franklin or Dion or Sam & Dave. Here's Mighty Mike Schermer remembering what it was like.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpLULfeNmmc
  14. I heard Ted B^ndy was a real swell fella, too.
  15. So sorry for your loss, Jeff. He sounds like he was quite a guy. waysider
  16. HeeHee Yeah, Zep really just took old blues tunes(Lot's of Muddy Waters/Willie Dixon stuff) and "electrified" them. Muddy did a psychodelic album of his own back in 1968, that blows the young up and comers clean out of the water in terms of what you could do with the blues to modernize it. It was called Electric Mud. It was only about 40 minutes long and sold a grand total of about 100,00 copies.(Quite a feat for a blues album) One of the guys from Zep even said this album inspired Black Dog. Included on the album is a cover of The Stones' tune Let's Spend The Night Together. It's so powerful, if you ever hear it, you will always want to giggle when you hear Mick doing his own song. Muddy hated this album because it was impossible to duplicate in a live setting which is where he spent most of his time. 'nother big influence for Zep was Spirit. Listen to Taurus sometime and it will forever change the way you hear Stairway To Heaven. I read here quite a bit but can't do much aside from youtube stuff. Always a very enjoyable place to visit.
  17. So, then, you witnessed these people displaying fruit of the spirit but you are not willing to give examples or specifics? Forgive me, but that sounds suspiciously like "You'll just have to take my word on this." Hmmm?--- Now where did I hear that before?
  18. In the thread titled: 1978 The Psychological Hoax, Sunesis wrote the following: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He probably got that tape, like all his other "secret" info tapes from the Liberty Lobby, of which he was a member. For those of you who don't know, the Liberty Lobby is a front in Washington, D.C. for all the white supremist groups. That's where all his stuff on the illuminati, CFR, etc. came from. They have/had a magazine called the spotlight. For all you 7th corps, remember when we got our copies of the "secret constitution"? I still have mine. In the back is an order form for us to subscribe to the spotlight if we wanted more info. These are the guys who see conspiracy theories in everything the government does. Their political party is called the Populist party. VP would call their hotline to hear the latest. If was after listening to this stuff, that he would call a meeting, like when the commies were about to take over in the '70s and it was only our prayers that stopped it. Anyone remember that meeting at H.Q. - the whole malpack head for the hills thing, that was Liberty Lobby. Since he didn't tell where he was getting his info from, everyone thought he was walking with God and getting "heavy revy." We was scammed! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Reading that got me wondering; is it possible any of our ABS got directed to this or some other comparable group? I'm not saying it did and there is no proof that I am aware of. Kinda makes ya wonder, though, where all the money went and why there was a never ending push to step up efforts to increase the intake. I mean, there are only just so many fancy motorcycles and classic cars one can buy. There had to be money left over even after all the "toys" and booze. Anybody else ever wonder that?
  19. Are you talking about the links in post #144?
  20. The whole world's fightin' about the same thing.

My brother took the class. Then he went to Way College of Emporia and then on to Fellow Laborers for two years. My Mom and Dad took the class, also.(as well as lots of other classes.) My Mom ran a twig for quite awhile until word came down from Int HQ that she could no longer represent her twig as being part of TWI because the members did not ABS.(They were all retired and didn't have the money to do so.) My sisters were the smart ones. They did not get involved. Not sure what that has to do with Wiccans but it seemed to fit with your question about sibling involvement.
