Roy Great ideas don't die when people forget about them, they simply go dormant and wait for the right conditions before they germinate. I think the question is not so much "How do you fertilize them?" but "When do you fertilize them?" If you fertilize them when they are dormant, you will most likely be disappointed in their development. Still, that doesn't mean you neglect to oversee their safety and well being in the interim.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, since you seem to allegedly be on a roll Oldies, Perhaps you should have inserted the word "allege" a few more times. Kinda like this: "The parallel I'd make is that both were alleged adulterers, both allegedly had great messages, and the messages allegedly are worth considering and repeating despite their alleged sins."

i'll tell you what killed that little boy....
waysider replied to excathedra's topic in About The Way
The essence of this thread is not about what the "other" minister said at the boy's funeral, it's about Wierwille telling us that the mother's fear killed the little boy. In fact, just to demonstrate how citing the words of this minister at the funeral is being used a diversionary tactic, try leaving that part of the story out and read it again. Kinda like when you read a sentence that says "Bobby and me" and you try to figure out if it should say "Bobby and I " by leaving Bobby out of the sentence. In other words, what the other minister said at the funeral is irrelevant to the point that Wierwille was making . The only function it(adding the ministers words) serves is to add color to the incident by introducing yet another doctrinal seed of thought. -
Neo Do you think my posts attack Dr.? I really don't think they do. The doctrine he taught was poison, especially the nonsense about the supposed "law of believing". Is that statement an attack on the man or simply an expose of the false doctrine he taught? If I say the man was alcoholic sexual predator, is that an attack or an observation? Regarding your question about the time factor: There was a very long period that I did not disagree with what I was taught because I was, for the most part, ignorant about what really happened. That's my answer in a nut-shell.

You want to know what killed that boy? I'll tell you. Some dumbaxe AC grad told him he was born of the wrong seed so he went and committed suicide!! Sorry. It still pizzes me off. He was like a brother to me. -
I think I used that answer on one of the questions in the "Home Studies" series. Shhhhh!!!---- Let's keep that our little secret.

Hello, Neo You have stated you believe what Dr. taught. I have taken the liberty of bolding that portion of your post. Is there something in particular that you believe or are you making an all inclusive statement?

What's up with the obsession to compare VPW with men of Biblical or historical note? So far he's been likened to David, The Apostle Paul and now Dr. King. I think he's more like Harold Hill from Meredith Wilson's The Music Man. Except that in The Music Man, Harold has a change of heart and everybody lives happily ever after.

An adage is a familiar and/or popular saying. It's a common expression, unlike "the sins of the teacher do not negate the truth in the teachings", which is not an expression that I personally recognize as being either familiar to many people or commonly used by the general populace. An adage is not some sort of profound statement of wisdom and truth. Here are two adages that are at opposite ends of the spectrum: 1. Birds of a feather flock together. 2. Opposites attract. Which adage is the provable one? Furthermore, it's one heck of a stretch of reality to suggest that VPW was on some sort of parallel with Dr. King.

Well there you have it, folks. VeePee SAID it couldn't be faked so that settles it. After all, VeePee wouldn't lie, now would he? Hmmmm?--- Now where is that scripture reference that says it can't be faked? Oh--- I forgot, we just have to "trust" him.

It's definitely no laughing matter when you hit one at full speed on the freeway. Believe me, I've been there. I don't wish that on anyone.

Don't be so sure. I'm often stumped on these. That one, however, I do know so I'm going to step aside.

Nope-----I only hear you whining that you think people are "ganging up" on "The Teacher".

Oldiesmanonian Theology is the target, not Oldiesman. It isn't personal.

I wouldn't have guessed Polythene Pam no matter how you quoted it. I only know that first line or two. Hey!! Since wing is new here, would it be OK if I relinquish my turn to him/her?

Honestly, I don't really care if he(VPW) was or wasn't. And I no longer believe that speaking in tongues is some infallible proof beyond proof of someones' spiritual state. Even VPW admitted that he successfully faked it at least once. Then later, he stated that it was impossible to fake it. What I do believe is that he was an unscrupulous snake oil salesman who developed a very successful multi level marketing scheme at the expense of a lot of good hearted(but gullible) people like you and me. If you just take a moment and look at it all, stripped down and naked, without all the religious trappings, it becomes a whole lot clearer that he scammed us. Of course, there are some people who will never dare to do that because they were so thoroughly(or was that throughly ) indoctrinated to never allow their minds to consider any alternative to what "the teacher" assured us to be the ultimate enlightenment. They have my sympathy.
