  1. AHA! That's the clue I needed. The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys-------Traffic
  2. The same could be said for the "soap" schemes. Forget the numbers and look at the percentages. Tens of thousands have poured money and/or labor into this scheme over the years. Maybe up to 100,000 people, I don't really know. And then you contrast that to the ones who hung in there through the years? The percentage has to be pitifully low. And don't forget, the ones who DID hang in there, continued to be a source of revenue and provided recruitment efforts while they stayed.
  3. Man, oh man. What the heck is so darned hard to understand about this junk? They were never interested in "training" people to go forth as mighty leaders. Every person who enrolled represented a potential source of income, whether it be from sponsorship, ABS, free labor or a "generous" donation to the "let's buy DOCTOR an Indian Motorcycle, 'cause it'll bless his heart" fund. What's more, it was set up like a multi level marketing (MLM) organization. (I bring Joe in, Joe brings Bob in, Bob brings Oscar in and on and on and on.) They wanted people to fizzle out. Sort of a self pruning effect. Make way for the new blood who can still bring in a bunch of new prospects who in turn will bring in more new prospects. (And all the time bringing in a new source of cash flow) Kinda like the soap selling guys. Bring in all your friends and family and maybe some outsiders. But when you've reached the saturation level, who really needs you? Romanticize all you want if it makes you feel less foolish, but that's the big picture that comes into focus if you stand far enough away to see it.
  4. That's some really sweeeet! stuff there, socks. Steve just keeps getting better and better. BTW-- For for who have never heard of Curtis Salgado, he is an amazing harp player/vocalist who has been around for years and years. Last year he was gravely ill and required a liver transplant. Happy to report that the last I heard he has recovered quite nicely and has resumed the life of a road warrior. Oh,yeah--Forgot to mention---When John Belushi was in production with Animal House, he caught Curtis' act and it inspired him to make another movie called>>>> The Blues Brothers.
  5. Sorry, I was already gone. I do remember, though, back in the 1970's, quite a big deal was made out of saying that "pharmakia"(sp?) had to have been talking about illicit use of drugs and that use of any kind of drugs could lead to debuhl po-ze-shun.
  6. Maybe the snow was really covering little pink elephants.
  7. And then there is this little gem of "truth". "Speaking in tongues daily is prerequisite to revelation." (Page 10 of the AC syllabus.) Really?? Kinda makes a fella wonder how all those cats in the OT ever heard anything. Oh, Wait! They don't count 'cause they are from "another" administration. And hey, not just "speak in tongues", but "speak in tongues daily". Hmmmm.---- This has got me thinking, now. Anybody know off-hand how Dr.s' phenomenal experiences, such as the gas pumps and the snow storm and God telling him He would teach like no other, etc., fit with his being led into tongues? Do you suppose he was speaking in tongues daily when those events took place? WAIT!!! What am I saying? Of course he must have been. He said himself that it's a prerequisite for revelation.
  8. Happy! Happy! Happy! (And many more!!)
  9. Do you mean doctrine like----------- this? "To receive anything from God, what five things MUST we know?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- That's question number 2 of Listening With A purpose Page 1 of the PFAL syllabus.
  10. Funny stuff, Sudo The "rap" one was a hoot, also.
  11. I think there are probably less people who graduated from the fellow laborers program (for all the years combined) than for one single big year of the corps.Still, it was made very clear to us that the purpose of our 9-5 jobs was to witness and promote PLAF.It didn't matter if you had a degree in accounting or chemistry, if a job in the local factory came open, you were expected to take that job. Why? because it would be more conducive to "Moving The Word". selling PLAF.I really get a chuckle out of people who insist there was never any mind/thought/behavior control.Kinda reminds me of that old song, What's That You Say, I've Got Beans in My Ears(?/.)
  12. Not sure about that but I wouldn't mind having a "Goat" with 3 deuces and a 4 speed and a 389.(Ronnie and The Daytonas)
  13. Man, I've heard of somebody "cutting you a new one" but that just takes the cake. What's just as bad is that the woman with the incontinence is probably scrambling around to find her new crutches just to make it to the loo in time.
  14. ---------------------Baaaa!!-------------------------
  15. So then, God gives extra points for cult participation? Wouldn't that make Him a respecter of persons? You see, Oldies, your line of reasoning is not too different from the old question, "Do you still beat your wife?" The guy was a huckster. He had some pretty cool classic cars, too. JP gave me a spin around the block in that red '67 Catalina. Mighty fine ride. Me thinks there are some who are still under the spell of the old Veepster.
  16. I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you saying that a Christian can't have eternal life or rewards at the Bema without a Corps experience on their resume? The dude was a con-man. (Though I must admit, he had some mighty byotchin' bikes in that stable of his!) I helped pay for at least one of them.(An Indian)
  17. And The Lord said, "Let there be Cold Blood"
  18. Bride(and others) Jeff uses the computer at the public library. I'm not sure you can use the PM function in that situation.
  19. Hi, Jeff Nice to see you. I edited at the same time you were posting. I hope my edit clarifies my statement.
  20. (Comparing physical restraint with psychological and emotional restraint.)Of course, if one were to lack an understanding of how cults are able to retain devotees, despite apparent flaws in the logic of their doctrines, one might also have a difficult time understanding this as well
  21. I wish you a happy birthday I wish you a happy birthday I wish you a happy birthday I wish you a happy birthday I wish you a happy birthday I wish you a happy birthday I wish you a happy birthday I wish you a happy birthday I wish you a happy birthday WHEW!! sure wish I had some carbon paper!
