  1. Pardon me for barging in here. I don't think JEFSjo ever said it was an "exact quote". An implied message can very well be a "statement" as well. Here's a spin for you: The early days of TWI were like lollipops, rainbows and warm fuzzy puppies. OOPS! That's not a spin, it's a falsehood. There is a difference, dontcha know!
  2. I understand there is a town on the East Coast that runs on HOT air.
  3. That is how it was presented in the original CF&S class. The only variation is that VPW also taught that they both "consumed" the by-product. "I don't have a scriptural syllabus reference for this; you'll just have to trust me." ------------------------------------------------------------------- edited to state that it was the CF&S class, not PLAF.

  7. Nixon's Checker Speech http://www.historyplace.com/speeches/nixon-checkers.htm Scroll down to the place where it says "real audio excerpt 1:19" and you will find the text that appeared in Yanagasawa's post.
  8. John Hartford Oh, Yeah!!! That's what I'M talkin' about!
  9. When I was just a young pup sitting in the PLAF class, I really had no means of investigating or challenging what was being taught. The way Wierwille presented it was grossly simplistic. He made it sound as if these guys were perched there with "pen in hand", so to speak, just waiting for instructions of what to write. Remember this?(paraphrased from session #2)----" Adam said, 'What should I call it'? and God said 'bovine' so Adam called it a bovine. It was just that simple." He either purposely avoided the time lapse dilemmas or was truly ignorant of the process himself. Either way, it doesn't shed a very favorable light on his motives or academic ability. And he called himself The Teacher!!
  10. "What a long, strange trip it's been."
  11. I think I'll go down to The Bijou. They're showing "The Monster That Devoured Cleveland."
  12. He also shares a name with a rather well known musician, now deceased. (I only made that connection because I gave up and "googled".)
  13. It's been covered by so many people, I don't think it really matters what artist you name. Yer Next!!

  15. He rides through the jungle tearin' limbs off of trees Knockin' great big monsters dead on their knees The cats don't bug him 'cause they know better He's a mean motor scooter and a bad go getter
  16. There are quite a few "Way Kids" who post here. Who knows better than they what it was like growing up as a "wayfer"? And, of course, there is Christian Cloud Abraham, whose now inactive(but still accessible) web site is chock full of tidbits relating the experience.---http://www.thewritingmachine.net/ ---as well as his book that talks about what it was like for a wayfer kid to break the ties of involvement and move on. Maybe we should forget about trying to define "the norm" and look at what was "common". It's right in front of us if we choose to see it. http://www.thewritingmachine.net/archives/...ght-ashbury.php
  17. Man, this sure is a round about way of debating the old (Way) issue of whether Jesus Christ is God or not.

    Were you happy?

Here's another strange twist of logic that popped into my head. Since we weren't supposed to actively seek "happiness", we started to accept that it was OK to not be happy. We accepted this false sense of "joy" that was supposed to come from "doing the work of the ministry" as a viable substitute. Now, of course, there will be those who will say "Joy is a fruit of the spirit." "Joy comes only from God."---------- Funny thing is, though, that's the kind of stuff they used to use to justify the work we did.
  21. THE "wolf" is not dead. THE "wolf" is that parcel of insidious thought and behavior patterns that were drummed into us in TWI. Wierwille was not THE wolf, he was just one of the pack who had aspirations of maintaining the alpha male slot. THE wolf is still very much alive and menacing.

    Were you happy?

Hi, Lisa Here's an example of that "wacky" logic: When I was in Fellow Laborers, I happened to find myself on a work detail assigned to clean the limb BRC one day. We had visitors from Int. HQ that day.----(Side note: VPW never once visited our program in the whole three years I was there.) One of the visitors asked me how I felt about mopping the floor. I responded by telling him that, although I didn't enjoy mopping floors, it gave me a sense of satisfaction to know that people would be "blessed" by my efforts. He shook his head in a display of disapproval and chewed me out for not renewing my mind to enjoy it. He said some day, maybe I would "get it" and then turned and walked away. Now that's "wacky".
