  2. When I was still real green, my twig leader took me witnessing at a local bar. (We were in our early 20's and we're both guys.) We introduced ourselves to two very attractive young ladies and before long were sharing a table with them. My twig leader got onto the "law of believing". At one point in the conversation, he said, "believing is a verb and a verb connotes "action". Well, I don't think they were under the impression they were involved in a grammar lesson. "Action" is what they were looking for. I wish I had a video of him back-pedaling and hemming and hawing to cover his butt. It was really quite comical to watch him try to save face.

  4. I thought I had heard every Steve Miller tune there was. I never heard that one, though. It's a good one. Some mighty tasty pickin' there. Pretty appropriate, too, with all these dance shows that are so popular right now. Thanks, Mr Miller!
  5. It's amazing that, even though VPW has been dead for over 20 many years, his poisonous doctrines continue to harm people just as if the man had never left.
  6. Hi, OCW 78 You might have been out of the room when this topic came up recently. http://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=16946
  7. I haven't been on the dating scene since Pluto was a pup but I still remember what a weird trip it was. In Fellow Laborers, we weren't allowed to date anyone outside the program. Not like there was actually much time to do so anyway. And heck, we lived in a stinkin' commune in the middle of Podunk, USA. One of the guys had a secret girlfriend from one of the twigs in the big city 20 miles away that he snuck out to see a couple times during open time slots on the weekend. Now, these are grown adults in our mid 20's I'm talking about. One Saturday night he didn't make it back by midnight curfew and his cover was blown. He and all his belongings were tossed out and ordered to leave the state before sunrise. What a wacky life we led.

  9. The story Of the horn of plenty (As told by VPW himself though paraphrased on account of I'm gettin' old and don't remember it perzactly.) In the early days of "the ministry", they had various paraphernalia they took to every meetin'. You know, salt for last nights coffee grounds, lipstick stained styro cups, etc. Included in that assortment were a couple of "ohfeeshal" collection plates just like the real churches used. But alas, one night someone let the adversary trick them into forgetting the box the plates were in. Uncle Harry, being the shrewd biniss mogol that he was, burst into action and dashed into the hallway where he discovered a floral "BOW-kay". Quickly(so as not to dampen the hilarious giving state of the attendees, which would have devilishly deprived them of Gawd's mighty blessings) he dumped the contents and passed around that thar corny-copia, much to the pleasure of those who selflessly awaited the dutiful process of counting the take thanking God for the abundance poured forth. And thus, the horn-o-plenteous became the Ohfeeshal vessel with which to gather the lovely offerings.

  12. Ed The Butcher took PLAF("The Miracle Class")???? Now that's noteworthy.
  13. "Believing" is the number one most dangerous doctrine ever taught by TWI. If you don't know anyone who was harmed (or worse) trying to follow it, you either weren't around very long or have perhaps misunderstood the ramifications.. That's a criticism of the "law" of believing, not of you personally. It is not Biblical. All the usual scriptures we were taught to "prove" it were handled in a deceiving manner to twist and contort their meanings. I would suggest perusing some of the volumes of material at the cafe that deal with this subject. You could start right there on the home page if you aren't up to doing a search.
  14. How did the literate people of this world gain exclusive rights to God? What about all those people who went before us and those who walk amongst us who don't know the first thing about reading and writing? Are they just S.O.L.? Yeah, I know, in TWI we were told that it was our mission in life to seek those people out by door-to-door witnessing and WOW programs and stringing chairs in perfectly symmetrical formation so they could have a chance to hear "The Word" with no distractions that could lessen their chances of having whatever the heck it was that we had. What DID we have, anyway? Millions and millions of people walking the Earth totally deprived of every knowing anything about God because they can't read or write. And the ones who can read and write might still be screwed if they aren't exposed to the "one true Word" that only comes via the rigors of academia. Yep, if they happen to choose the RV over the KJV, they might as well just pack their steamer trunks and wait for the first ship leaving port. When you witness a baby being born or comfort someone as they shed their mortal coil, some kind of unexplainable connection happens inside you. It transcends mere words and Bible verses. Maybe it's God. Then again, maybe it isn't. I don't really know. Does anybody for certain? Whatever it is, though, it's big---- really, really big.
  15. Could the answer be in this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MrK9-6LEpE
  16. Well, on the bright side, there never seemed to be a shortage of familia or wheat berries. Actually, here is kind of a funny twist. For two years, I was a breakfast person. That meant I got breakfast ready for the "house" I was in (6 or 7 people) either preset before "lights out" at midnight or before morning fellowship. It was a preset menu and was always stuff like familia, oat groats, wheat berries, mush, steel cut oats and some kind of fresh fruit.(plus set the table.) So now I get a kick out of getting up early on Sundays and making stuff for my family that I could have never made in FLO. Stuff like bacon, sausage, fried 'taters, French toast, pancakes, fresh cut fruit salad, melon, etc. There is no set table or time frame. Eat whenever you get up. And the best part is I can make whatever the heck I want without having to follow the preset menu provided by Manna(the food co-op). No pre-soaking wheat berries or apple-icious. I know that sounds crazy but I do it because I don't have to.
  17. What?? You mean it wasn't really Santa who ate the cookies? :o
  18. Anyone know where to find the stuff Raf did on the tithe?
  19. Please choose the explanation that most closely describes the cause of this incident a. The adversary caused it because The Word was really moving and the believers were red hot. b. The adversary was able to cause it because The Word was not moving and the believers were lukewarm. c. The guy in the car was a prophet who foresaw the day when he would model for this Emoticon--- d. This was the direct manifestation of a disgruntled ex-TWI's believing to "stick it to da man-o-gawd". e. Some townies were out cruisin' and just decided to have some fun. --------------------------------------------------------------------- There is no right or wrong answer. You will be notified soon if you are a successful candidate for the advertised position. Thank you for expressing an interest in The Waste International, Inc.
  20. I could be mistaken but I think one of Da^e Brub3ck's kids might have taken the class in the mid 1970's. I seem to recall DB was at the rock one year though I don't think he performed.
  21. Here's some information regarding how the human eye/brain interprets color. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_vision It is possible to scientifically test to determine if what they see as red, for example, represents the typical wavelength parameters that define "red". Here is the Ishihara pseudoisochromatic color test commonly used in doctors offices. You can click on the link to take the test. http://colorvisiontesting.com/ishihara.htm
