  1. Well, in the early '70's, it was commonly supposed, by the rank and file believers, that ordination came from God and was conferred upon the recipients as a recognition of a gift ministry. (or plural ministries) It was quite a "thing" amongst us to try to guess the gift ministry of the newly ordained. And, of course, since VPW declared himself to be "the teacher" it was accepted that he, himself, had at least this gift ministry if not more. I have since learned that everything is not always as it appears to be.
  2. Hope you have a great birthday!

  3. I like to lurk but I don't really play. I'm kinda "techno-retarded".

She was very, very fortunate to have a loved one who would do this for her.
  5. In light of your geographic location, I wonder if they could be ex-FLO or progeny.
  6. Hmmmmm. Any truck stops nearby?
  7. I was never around either of them very much at all. I do recall one time, however, when I heard them simultaneously giving conflicting advise to a believer who asked about joining the Armed Forces. VP told the kid he should devote his efforts to the ministry, instead, by going WOW. He was quite emphatic in his admonition. Uncle Harry told him he should join the military if that was his true desire. They went back and forth with personal jabs a couple of times and finally told the young man he should just pray about it. He really just wanted to know if there was anything in The Word that addressed the issue but came away with his question unanswered.
  8. Oh my God! I could feel a heavy weight of oppression descend upon me as I read. The deeper I went, the heavier it got. Please, Please, Please, I beg of you; delete those words from Hell before it's too late for all of us.

  13. I still think the whole thing was just a front for an illegal name tag laundering operation. The Bible thing was just an after thought.

  16. Hee Hee Maybe they were afraid they would have to exhume him (VPW) and and give him a final resting place near the slip of The GoodTime II http://cleveland.about.com/od/sightseeingt...goodtimeIII.htm BTW-- I played an after prom gig on this boat with a band called Soul Purpose in 1966. On the way home, we turned on the radio and heard a really cool new song called My Baby Does The Hanky Panky. :o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqYMqgXG8ks
  17. Happy Birthday, Brushstroke!
  18. It was taught in the advanced class, and other places, that the only way to achieve the level of success that would later become a criteria for induction into the RRHOF, was to sell out to "the adversary". (Wrong seed / devil spirits, that sort of thing.) Couldn't have all those sons of Satan being honored so close to hallowed ground, now could we? Maybe someone should have asked them where THEIR believing was? Sheesh! HQ was supposedly the spiritual epicenter of the world and yet it was afraid of something inanimate that was 150 miles away?

  20. If "revelation" actually worked as it taught in the Advanced Class, would there really be any need for name tags?

    betrayal

Ya know, here's some twisted irony for you. During my involvement with The Way, I think I got to be TOO trusting of people. I think it has made it difficult for me to understand or even recognize some of the underhanded politics that go on in the office place. It sounds crazy, i know, but I think I became sort of naive about how how people are always "looking out for #1". Is it one of those kind of deals, excie?
