Would it be too forward of me to ask for a sampling of these "studies"?
-
Sounds like a case of "victim mentality" to me.

Here is the post(spun from the context of another thread in which it originated) that surreptitiously denigrates people who didn't question leadership and reprove their elders in the church but rather followed orders they were led to believe had Divine origin. Call it trolling, call it baiting, call it whatever you want. Where I come from we just call it pushing someone's buttons. It was (IMO) designed to elicit this sort of response.

So then name calling (ie: Washed up MOGS) is OK as long as it is thinly veiled in anonymity? (I say thinly because one need only examine the post it appears to reference to see whom is being deemed a "Washed up MOG".)

Are you serious? Did you actually read post #62? Here it is: Oldies said: This new "rule" did not exist for years, or at least it was not enforced.... but WhiteDove and I are recipients of its enforcement in the last few weeks; apparently one of our crimes is basically not being in alignment and harmony with the GS Mission. Some of our unsatisfactory statements (said respectfully BTW) are being censored out apparently being due to our contrary opinions notwithstanding. This is new in my GS posting experience. For years, contrary opinions were allowed. For years, I thought GS Cafe was a great place to freely express one's opinion, even mine contrary as it is, as long as it was done with respect. Due to my experience the last few weeks, I have seen that the free expression of ideas (posted respectfully) has been lost here.

WD Here is a summary of what I've gathered from your posts. It is your opinion that Kris has fabricated the contents of this book and that her motive is to sell books. Is that an accurate summation? Let me know if I've misunderstood. BTW---Who are the "Washed up MOGS"(sic) you referred to in your last post?(#66)
-
So what are you saying, Oldies, that you feel like some sort of "victim"? I'm sure there is no one "holding a gun to your head" and forcing you to post here. BTW---I don't recall anyone, other than yourself, calling your dissension a "crime"(sic).

OOPS! Sorry I thought it said The Incredibly STINKING Way.

You know, for a guy who seems to revel in exalting the virtues of PLAF, it surprises me you have forgotten the example of the fellow who said, "There is no God."
-
Arizona Perhaps you can clarify for me. Are you saying it is her own fault that she became one of VPW's victims?
-
Anyone can utter the words "God is Love", even the guy with a gun at your back demanding your wallet

Growing up, there was a kid in my neighborhood named Dennis who could do this on cue. We were probably about 14 or 15 and had no idea it was done in churches or that it was connected with religion. He taught me how to do it, but I only did it once. (I was afraid of landing incorrectly and hurting myself.) He used to fall back on a sleeping bag on the ground. The only way I know how to explain it is you have to turn off a part of your brain. That is actually what you do when you speak in tongues. (Turning off a part of your brain, that is.) This has been shown in laboratories. You can make your brain do all sorts of tricks with a bit of practice. For example, ever heard of circular breathing? You have to turn off the part of your brain that says air can only flow in one direction as you breath. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circular_breathing And here's the all-time grand master of circular breathing.

That line is actually a direct quote from a TWI class, thought it escapes me which one at the moment.

A few question I alway wondered about
waysider replied to fooledagainII's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Now, that there is just plain funny!! Say, do you know the difference between fish and chicken? -
The man was full of hot air. I don't believe he ever got revelation about anything!! Besides, think about how illogical that statement is. God told him there would always be at least two active CULT members until the Lord returns? What does that mean, really?

Rightly dividing The Word (if there is such a concept) isn't only about the words you speak, it's about the way you live your life and conduct yourself in relation to those words. It should be obvious to any reasonable person that Wierwille was miles away from rightly dividing The Word.

I'm not sure what to make of the rings thing. To me, at least, it seems to suggest a serial nature to his deeds. We've probably all seen these TV shows where the serial killer keeps an ear or a finger or lock of hair from each victim. I think it was probably along those same lines. Scary, though, that he had a whole bunch of them yet to be given away. You have to wonder if he eventually gave them away and to whom.

Sounds a bit like a baiting tactic to me, but then what do I know?

I can never seem to get enough Sonny and Brownie. (Or Memphis Minnie, for that matter.) Guess I'm Just A White Boy Lost In The Blues.
