  1. Kinda reminds me of this:
  2. Thanks, Chas I had never heard that song before.---by anyone. Great lyrics and heartfelt delivery. I'm sure I will listen to it again----and again
  3. Hi, Dana I'm pretty sure we never met. One thing I didn't realize until I started visiting here is how large the whole operation was at its peak. So, if it seems like people don't remember you, it's probably not because you were a "mouse".
  4. This is slightly--- Here is something I have posted before related to the space program. http://www.thespaceplace.com/nasa/spinoffs.html
  5. I never thought he was there either. It says he hanged himself but I'm not sure about the straightway part My point was that VP used his convoluted logic to teach something that defied conventional thought. And, that we bought into it many times because we falsely believed he had some sort of insider information.
  6. Interesting stuff, Tom. "Signs, miracles and wonders followed them who believed." (Not BECAUSE they believed) It's a descriptive modifier telling us who these people were, not what they did. PS---Your presence here has been missed. Don't be a stranger.
  7. Yes, David that is how recall it as well. (Except, I think it was taught that the "guardian angels" only watched over us until we reached the age of accountability or until we were born again if that came first.) I seem to recall it was a very short section of scripture in Hebrews that was used to supposedly "prove" this. This was also used back-handedly to reinforce the fear of leaving "The Household". (ie:) If you leave, there will be no angels to help, only Christ in you. But the catch was that it very difficult(maybe impossible, don't recall) to "connect" with the Christ in you when you are "out of fellowship" which, of course, you would be by leaving the household. So, by virtue of logic, leaving the household put you in a situation where the Christ in you was like money in the bank you couldn't withdraw. Ergo, if you want the power of God in your life, you can never leave. TWI was a sick and twisted way of life. (IMO)
  8. I remember frequently hearing people pray for God to open their "eyes of understanding" before the twig teaching began. I also recall that we were encouraged to pray likewise before a private study session. Maybe it was more of a localized thing, I don't know. It was a long time ago, well before most of us suspected what a snake's nest we were dealing with.
  9. I don't really have a dog in this fight but I did want to corroborate that VPW did teach that Judas was present at Pentecost. My memory is very fuzzy on this one. If I recall correctly, he was teaching on Pentecost , flew off the track, and started to babble about mathematical accuracy. Then he went back to the Gospels and said that it doesn't say exactly WHEN he "hanged himself". Thus, by virtue of wierwillian logic, it allowed for the presence of Judas on The Day of Pentecost. Then of course, he used the record in Acts to prove he was "born-again" because there were no exclusions listed. Circular reasoning. And we all sat there enthralled with this new and unique twist on conventional thought because we were sure he must have gotten some sort of revelation. Remember how he was fond of saying, "Father told me" or something to that effect? I don't believe "Father" ever told him anything. He was a con artist who was adept at twisting words and feigning emotion.

    Dad - bad news

So sorry to learn of your loss.
  11. "Jacks" are work dogs. Like most other work breeds, they become frustrated when they can't do what they were born to do.
  12. (Couldn't find a karaoke "smilie")
  13. I'm not really sure anymore. That might be a good topic for a thread. (Probably already been done, somewhere in here.)
  14. Sorry about that. For some reason I thought that was from Nick Danger, Third Eye. Probably a glitch in the time machine. No doubt caused by the misdeeds of Rocky Rococo.
  15. Here's a disclaimer that was added. (in the AC, I think) Supposedly, if one did not change the conditions which allowed the spirits to enter, the spirits would come right back in. That throws it right back on the individual. Talk about guilt---- "Well, we cast them out. It's your fault they came back in." <_<
  16. That was Firesign, Sudo. (Not that it really makes all that much difference, though.)
  17. Let me answer your question as briefly as possible NYU.------Consequences It was made very clear early on that to question or doubt would result in consequences. Likewise with leaving "The One True Household".----------Consequences The thought of those consequences was held over your head like some sort of extortion. And we weren't supposed to discuss these doubts amongst ourselves. We were supposed to all have the same type of thoughts. (The Renewed Mind.) So not only did you not consider and discuss these things, you tricked your mind into ignoring them
  18. I agree, newlife. Right there in session #7 where Eve is used as an example of what could happen to you if you dared to "consider". "Having done all-----STAND!" <_<

    'bout me

    Hi, Maria Welcome aboard!
  20. I've been smoke free for close to 25 years. (2 packs a day) I must say, the urge to have a smoke subsided rather quickly for me. After about the first 10 or 12 months, the urge subsided completely. It doesn't phase me in the least if someone lights up. It never occurs to me that I could be having one too. So the point is, even the desire to have one will eventually go away if you are patient enough.
