  1. True, but in TWI, the idea was that it was imperative to make continual efforts to self delude yourself into accepting Way doctrine and rejecting all else ("En Guard!"-----DWA class) and you were to exercise a practice that helps turn off your critical thinking functions. (S.I.T. much-----PFAL classes I,II,III)
  2. Or do you mean what they DECLARE to be The Written Word?
  3. And does it really matter if it doesn't appear on an SNS tape or in a class? If was being repeated throughout the organization, they had an obligation to be aware of what was being promoted and a responsibility to correct it if it was in error.
  4. Lots of doctrine that was disseminated through the organization was deliberately distanced from its source, in my opinion. Like money laundering ideas.
  5. By now, most people are familiar with the meaning of "grease spot by midnight". Way doctrine states that God puts a special "hedge of protection" around those who band together as "one true household". Leaving the household places one on the outside of the hedge and thus openly vulnerable to attacks by "the adversary". The common idea that was promoted was that once you were in the household, it would never be safe for you to venture outside. You could become a grease spot in the road by midnight. This concept is fairly straightforward and easily understood. As such, it is also easily debunked. You leave, it doesn't happen---end of story. However, there is another fear motivated concept, that I will call "the ribbon of fear", that is much more complex. It's woven throughout the PFAL series of classes. Simply stated, it's the concept that the devil can (and probably will) possess you unless you force your mind to conform to Way doctrine, otherwise known within the organization as The Word. Bits and pieces of this concept are strewn throughout the various classes. Starting in session seven of PFAL, we learn that Eve's folly was to give careful consideration to what she was hearing. The admonition here is that if one allows their mind to think freely, they could find themself in a perilous predicament just as Eve did. Thus, it is best to not even consider conflicting ideas. In the Intermediate Class, we learn that if our mind is kept preoccupied with speaking in tongues, the spirit inside us will grow stronger and thus repel such attacks. And, we must use endless repetition of Way doctrine to replace genuine thoughts. There are two classes, Dealing With The Adversary and Renewed Mind, that are expressly devoted to promoting this very doctrine. Then, in the AC, we learn that, even if a devil spirit is cast out, it can and will come back unless the person follows this doctrine. In fact, we learn that it will probably come back with addition friends and make the situation even worse. The solution? Never allow your mind to consider thoughts that contradict Way doctrine. Here are just a few examples of "sprinklings" from classes. page 19---AC "A born-again saved believer may become afflicted with evil spirits. The spirits may affect or possess mind and/or body, but not spirit." page 17---AC "They are the cause of mental and physical disease." "They can pass in and out of men and even animals." "Satan may enter divine presence at any time." page 7---DWA HOW WE STAND AGAINST THE DEVIL "You must know HOW God operates. (The PFAL classes have certainly outlined his step by step operation) You must have a spiritual connection line, a system for communicating with God. (The manifestations and their usage provide this.) You must have the proper keys for making yourself subject to God in your walk. (The Renewed Mind is your Key to Power.)" page 6---DWA The Battlefield is in the Mind The way to capture any man in anything is to get him to think like you want him to think. IDEAS CAPTURE MEN NOT WEAPONS. If we win a man's thinking in his mind, if we capture his thoughts, we can indicate and control his actions. It goes on and on and on, woven like a ribbon throughout all the classes. That's the stuff that's so hard to initially untangle from your own thoughts.
  6. I still believe God had a purpose for stretching coffee. Where He stretched it. Why He stretched it How He stretched it ---------------------------------------
  7. INTERVIEWER--- Tell me a bit about yourself. MARTINDALE--- Why, I can lick any man in town! INTERVIEWER---Sir, we frown on that sort of activity in the workplace.

  9. And some of the few men who did, seem to develop a distorted memory of how wonderful life was in the good old days
  10. "It just sits there like a duck"
  11. Who really knows what or if VP ever threatened to physically harm her if she went public. Or worse, threatened to harm her children. I'm not saying he did. I'm just saying, that knowing the true nature of the man, it's not hard to imagine this scenario being played out. He did, after all, dispatch armed thugs to threaten outspoken Way detractors. He kept guns, knives, vicious dogs, and loyal toadies at his immediate dispatch. "He was a mean man"
  12. Nahh---- He just made something up that would indirectly imply that he, himself, was an Apostle and hoped no one would notice that he just pulled this stuff out of his butt.
  13. We had morning fellowship every day at 5:30AM in Fellow Laborers. All 50 of us met in the basement of one of the apartments for prayer, mannies and announcements. We sat cross-legged on the cold concrete floor and struggled just to appear to be awake after our usual 5 hours of sleep. (Hooded sweats were quite handy for disguising one's true state of awareness.) Immediately following the meeting, we jogged, en masse, "to the big tree and back" down a totally darkened rural road. There was a rather large drainage ditch that ran on either side of the two lane country road. One morning, on the way back from the tree, a rather high ranking member of the limb staff fell into a deep sleep, while jogging, ran about 100 feet and then ran straight into the ditch, as all those around him watched in disbelief. It took him several seconds to figure out where he was and what had happened.
  14. It was staged. One long time poster has detailed how she and VPW were sitting under a tree having a casual conversation, when a certain believer walked by. Wierwille jumped up and got in his face, delivering an enraged tirade. Then, when he had dismissed the person, he sat back down, smiled, made some off the wall comment about spiritual anger and casually resumed the conversation as if nothing had happened. It was all an act. He slipped in and out of character like a walk-on in a broadway show.
  15. The salt covenant was a real big deal for me when I got divorced because I felt, at the time, like I had broken a promise to God.
  16. Ok---Now picture yourself living in a commune with about 50 other people, half are men, half are women. You can't marry an "unbeliever" and you can't date outside the commune. (There were exceptions made for people who married Corps.) And there was a "no sex" policy for singles. That's a pretty darn funky situation to find yourself in at 25 years old.
  17. Yes, the "being on the down low" expression came to mind as I was posting. Maybe I should have used a less ambiguous cliche.
  18. Wierwille had direct ties to a white supremacy political group called Liberty Lobby (now defunct). Liberty Lobby evolved into The Populist Party. When Populist Party member, Bob Richards, became a U.S. presidential candidate, he came to speak to the Way Corps. Another notable, high ranking member of The Populist Party is the former Grand Wizard of The Ku Klux Klan (KKK), David Duke. Wierwille frequently used information he gleaned from Liberty Lobby propaganda, such as The Spotlight, to formulate conspiracy theories and pass them on to Way members under the guise of Divine Revelation. Wierwille kept all this well hidden from the general populace of The Way. Personally, this all came as a tremendous shock to me when I discovered it here at GSC. One thing that especially appealed to me when I became involved with The Way was that the organization seemed to be promoting a message that was in favor of racial and ethnic equality. I dare say that the vast majority of other members I knew at the time held the same false assumption. One thing that really aggravates me to a large degree is knowing that some of my well intentioned abundant sharing may have been diverted to these organizations Personally, I had no idea about his ties until I found out here on GSC.
  19. Can't remember who, but I seem to recall one of our posters has personal ties to someone involved in the logistics of bringing the bodies home.
  20. I doubt we'll ever know. Don't hold your breath while you wait for our young friend to give us that insight.
  21. My intentions in starting this thread really have nothing to do with the issue of homosexuality. My intent is to show that wierwille could just pull things out of his butt and convince us that he knew the "real" insider low down. Plus, it further demonstrates his genuine lack of credibility. If he couldn't even get the basic facts of biology straight, how in the world could he have known intricate spiritual truths?
  22. That's how I see it, too. Ironic, though, he seemed to have forgotten that only four years prior (1976) he tried and succeeded to sell us on the idea that the gvt. was "out to get" The Way.
  23. Yeah, but I can see where that might escape your notice if you were hiding out in the woods so as to avoid doing chores.
