  1. I suppose if one really wanted to, one could even find something kind to say about MUSSOLINI.
  2. In my neck of the woods, this is a common sight: And about a hundred miles north, these are the common variety: They're really just variations of the Grey Squirrel.
  3. Another Way myth is laid to rest. HERE And an added twist of irony: If you want to hunt squirrels as a food source, why choose the tiny red squirrel? Wouldn't it make more sense to take the Greys or, even larger, Fox Squirrels?
  4. Was it ever really anything more than a large scale illusion?
  5. Maybe they're trying to escape the spiritual boogers.
  6. The tales of spiders crawling into your open mouth while sleeping have been proven to be mythical. http://www.snopes.com/science/stats/spiders.asp So, if they don't crawl INTO your mouth, why would they crawl OUT of your nose?
  7. Was it a wetland? If so,maybe that's why it was initially passed over as being unplantable.
  8. Gonna throw a monkey wrench in here. Page 48 of the PFAL syllabus states that, based on Eph. 4:11, there are ONLY five gift ministries.I don't really see any hard evidence that the number was limited by this verse. It's simply P.I. that VPW probably picked up from one of the sources he plagiarized. Furthermore, Wierwille states, on the same page, that the gifts are not to the individuals, but to the church. The context of verses surrounding verse 11 does seem to substantiate that line of thinking. So, in essence, he (VPW) is indirectly implying that he, VPW, is a gift from God to the church because he is bringing old light to a new generation. In simpler terms, being a "plumber" does not mean you have the "gift trade" of a plumber. It just means you ARE a plumber. edit: (and VPW was no plumber!!)
  9. Man! It was all so long ago. I don't recall VPW ever saying anything that implied we weren't Christians. What I recall is that he other Christians for not living as if "grace" excused them from what would otherwise be concidered sinful behavior. Remember in PFAL how he criticized "the average Christian" for carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders?
  10. Don't be too tough on yourself, WL. Lots and lots of us had no idea what was going on.
  11. Well, that in its self demonstrates the dichotomy of the whole thing. In other words, how can hearing this one quote have such monumental impact if the original concept holds true?
  12. Hello there, waylaid I'm sure by now you know that there were women in the corps who were LITERALLY drugged and raped by the top dogs. Date rape drugs and such. Some were coerced into abortions so that the "ministry" wouldn't be blamed. VPW was a sexual predator who used his office to violate unsuspecting women. I don't say this out of bitterness. I am simply stating the reality of what happened and offering an explanation of what I think may rile people up regarding your handle. Maybe that's the sore point that revisits the pain. I really don't know. My handle, also, conjures up a bad image if it is not accompanied with an explanation. It looks as if I am someone who sides with The Way. So here goes. In Fellow Laborers, we weren't allowed to question authority, either directly or amongst ourselves. If you did question decisions amongst yourselves, someone could rat you out and put an end to your stay in the program. So, we would sometimes walk to a nearby truck stop to talk privately without an unwanted audience. The name of the truck stop was The Wayside Truck Stop. Hope you can stick around and bring a personal perspective that is unique to your experience.
  13. I remember the first time I visited The Way Woods. It was a beautiful, cloudless August night. Being a city kid, I had never really been anywhere that didn't have "light pollution". I had never seen such a star filled sky in my whole life. I felt like a kid who went to Disneyland and got to shake Mickey's hand. Of course, as time went on, I began to suspect that Mickey was really just some schmoe in a cheap, sweaty costume.
  14. Hook, line and sinker. But, don't get me wrong. They were really sweet people. And the FLO involved did not, I'm sure, know she was being used as a pawn.
  15. By 1976 the music had changed exponentially from where it started. (and not for the better)
  16. Fellow Laborers was a closed corporation. We weren't allowed to socialize with outsiders. When we went door to door witnessing, we had to turn our "leads" over to the local leaders of the areas we witnessed in. The only exception I ever saw (Maybe there were others that I didn't see.) was when one of the FLO witnessed to a local bank president and his wife. They, of course, got special undershepharding provided to them by the person who witnessed to them. Does that make that particular FLO a bad person? Of course not. It does show, however, that there were ulterior motives behind the directives being given to us. In my opinion, when FLO were sent out door to door witnessing, we were LITERALLY, not metaphorically, being used as a sales force for *PLAF (The Wonder Class). *PLAF Puke, Loogie And Flatulence
  17. I think "feigned" would more accurately describe it.
  18. I guess I'm not doing a very good job of explaining this Bolski. It's not the fear that you'll become a grease spot. It's not the fear that you don't measure up to your fellow believers. It's a fear that the adversary might attack your mind because you know you're not being "all that you can be". It's a very personal fear, independent of what others are doing. And it's woven ever so intricately through all the PFAL series classes.
  19. Let's face it. What we're looking at here is a performance evaluation for a sales force.
  20. Dang!! I thought it was 15. Now I'm REALLY concerned.
  21. My understanding was that they rented the tents from some company in Dayton. I have no idea if that is correct. It seems logical, though.
  22. Nah--That's the fear that comes as part of "The One Household/Hedge of Protection" package. What I had in mind was more like that ever present fear that always lurked just below the surface that you might be entertaining little spiritual friends and, if you were, would anyone find out? You know, that pesky concern that you may not be renewing your mind enough or speaking in tongues enough or reading "The Word" enough or retemorizing scripture enough like all the classes say you should. I mean, how do you ever know when it's "enough"? Can it ever be "enough"?
