Wouldn't you just love to see a video of that now?
-
Yeah, but it was "spiritual" toilet paper! 16 or 17 more times through the class ought to help you to see the light. (Provided you speak in tongues "more than us all".)
-
Technically, what they said was that if you didn't abundantly share, there would be a break in God's "hedge of protection", thus leaving you vulnerable to attacks from the adversary. Or, more precisely translated----"God made your kid sick because you were not 'abundantly sharing'".
-
If we're really living the "abundant life" (as portrayed in session one of PFAL) why would we need to worry about trivial matters such as how much booty wipe we use? Oh, wait! Now I remember. Stewardship. (He who is faithful in least is faithful in much.) Sooooooo, then, why couldn't an unbeliever simply learn to be a good steward of his possessions and skip the whole Bible thing altogether? ***************************** answer: It's spiritual. :o

People Who Believe That There Is A God
waysider replied to Oakspear's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
"There's a lot of people talkin' 'bout gettin' in the Glory Land way. Walkin' straight and narrow 'cause they're tryin' to get to Heaven some day. But I've been saved by the love of the people who are livin' right here. There's a whole lot of Heaven, shinin' in this river of tears." -
I hadn't even thought about it until I looked out my front window and noticed there was snow covering the gas pumps across the street.

I think, to some degree, we ALL became "characters" due to living in a world of delusions.

According to THIS, someone named Bernita Jess, in Midland MI, contributed to the McCain campaign in March of 2008.

Maybe it's just me. I have a hard time jumping on the bandwagon for a God who would put people to death for minor crimes.
-
On the other hand, sometimes I feel like I can express myself more accurately without all the confusing body language and peripheral distractions.

You reported the news in good faith that the source was reliable. Is that such a bad thing?

We (FLO) didn't have any formalized curriculum even though we were supposed to be doing an intense two year study of The Book of Acts.Wednesday nights the limb leader would teach on whatever hit his fancy. Usually that meant we would get our arses chewed out for not believing big enough. Whatever. Morning fellowship was all 50 of us. It consisted of prayers, mannies and announcements. Then the run to the tree and back. Then, at night twigs, the teachings were all based on the collaterals, for the most part. If you hadn't taken a particular class, such as Witnessing or Renewed Mind, you could take it in a local class being held and thus avoid work detail. Sometimes we ran such classes in-house, as well. If you had been an instructor before coming into the program, you got to run classes in-house or in local areas. Oh,joy! Academically speaking, it was a thoroughly (or is that throughly?) disappointing experience. I can, however, quite readily distinguish the difference between a rutabaga and a radish as a result of having devoted two years of my life to the program. (My third year was, how shall I say it?----less devoted.)
-
We had no say in the matter. Those items were directives that came with the program as a "package deal".

Lots of solid information in there. In my opinion, she is absolutely correct in stating that the lifestyle is primary and the specific "doctrines", such as 4 crucified, the 6 denials, etc., are peripheral. When she talked about sleep deprivation, dietary modifications, isolationism, social restrictions and communal lifestyle in general , she was accurately describing my experience in Fellow Laborers. I suppose someone else may view their involvement in a different light but that's my take on it.

Soooooo---------Where is it now? (and all the other ones?)

I'm inclined to go with the "flawed product" explanation. I mean you have all this detailed stuff on discerning of spirits in the Advanced Class and yet nobody seemed to notice that Wierwille was a walking/talking, text book example of the very things he taught were devil possession. (ie: chronic alcoholism, sexual predator, psychological abuser, chronic liar, etc.) Doesn't look too good for proving DOS is a valid concept.

VP didn't simply have A motorcycle. He had several. Some were mucho expensive. Paid for with ill gotten funds from his MLM scheme called "The Way". So what I'm wondering is----Do they still have them secretly stashed away like the used to?--- Did they sell them?----If they sold them, what became of the profits?
-
I threw a few bucks in on one that looked like this. (Or at least it was supposed to once it was restored.)
-
What ever happened to The Twig Hopper? (Or any of the other motorcycles and classic cars)
-
And to add insult to injury, the premise of the whole class was based on a misrepresentation of the meaning of John 10:10.
-
Wow! Resumes for that position should be arriving at the speed of light!
