The Way of today isn't anything like Martindale's way
waysider replied to Twinky's topic in About The Way
It's not hard to understand, soul searcher. The Way taught that homosexuality is caused by a devil spirit. By associating with a homosexual, you were associating/conversing with a devil spirit. Plus, there were, supposedly, spy-type spirits (familiar spirits) that kept track of your conversations and such. They could use that info at a future date, to their advantage. -

It ain't easy finding out the Easter Bunny isn't real. We've all been there. It takes a while for the denial to subside. -

OK---You went WOW 2x and WD once. Surely, then, you are aware that Wierwille taught cancer is essentially devil possession. Wierwille died of cancer. How exactly, does your "kinder, gentler", new TWI account for the obvious dilemma this presents? -

Geeze! I haven't seen a straw man that was nearly this flamboyant in quite a long while. -

Even if you wanted to contact them, (I don't) how would you do it? They hide behind the corn stalks in Podunk, Ohio. You need special permission to even attend their "church services" which are held in a big old building where, supposedly, "all are welcome". -

If they are still teaching that Way followers are a special, superior breed of human that can conjure up special powers to exact physical change through magical thinking, I would be inclined to say they haven't changed. -

Oh, I think quite a few ladies here can "understand" that. You don't have to look too far to find first-hand testimony of TWI related rape victims here. Re: pedophiles Did this "kinder, gentler" organization bother to tell you that they have a documented history of moving offenders from one location to another to avoid detection, much the way the Catholic Church has been doing for quite some time? -

Sooooooo----from this post, it is obvious you have seen things being done in The Way with which you disagreed. But, you didn't rock the boat because you knew there would be undesirable, personal consequences. And, you feel somewhat powerless because you lack the rank to wield any clout that would result in change. Please tell me again how this describes a "kinder, gentler" organization. -

The Way is an MLM, a multi-level-marketing organization that hides behind a thinly cloaked veneer of religiosity. That's what it has always been and will likely continue to be. It's really just that simple. Please note that I did not bash God, Christianity, The Bible, Homosexuals or even The Way, itself. I simply stated the cold hard facts. -

So much of what was taught in the PFAL series of classes has been debunked regarding "accuracy", it would hardly seem worth anyone's while to stay/return to partake of the supposed "gentler, kinder" treatment, even if it were real. -
Do they still teach "the law of believing"?

I have to think you at least understand The Way's party line regarding The Holocaust. :o -

Federal Court Claims Right to Regulate Scripture Interpretation
waysider replied to James Trimm's topic in About The Way
1. That the court cannot hear a property dispute between two Establishments of Religion if doing so requires the court to engage in the unconstitutional activities of considering doctrine, weighting doctrine, interpreting doctrine, or resolving doctrinal issues. I highly doubt that doctrine will play any role in this. It's all a matter of whether one party "borrowed" from the work of another or not. The meaning of the work in question is of little significance in relation to the decision. -
Here's an example: When faced with the reality that Wierwille actually stole the materials in PLAF (The Wonder Class), there are those who will say, "Yes, but Gawd told him what things to steal and how to arrange them in a way that they hadn't been arranged since the last time they were arranged. And, anyhow, it was all for the betterment of mankind." You see, the concept of VP being a crook as well as a great Man-o-Gawd, simply doesn't fit well into one mind simultaneously, so the mind finds a way to make it seem to be justified

I'll tell you what I'd do if it was me. I'd write "The Teacher". That's: The Teacher P.O. Box 328 New Knockwurst, Ohio 45871 -
I don't think man has a need to believe the unbelievable. I just think that his mind is made in such a way that it constantly tries to reconcile thoughts and concepts that are at odds with each other. Cognitive dissonance.

With technical knowledge and advancements, I can see your point about mathematics demanding it. This stuff, however, has much more to do with what appeals to human psyche and emotion. Man is hardwired with a sense of curiosity that needs to make sense out of that which, otherwise, makes little or no sense. Have you ever watched any of the currently popular TV shows about paranormal activity? They try to use "science" to prove the unprovable. Why haven't they gotten "smart" enough to realize their efforts are futile? Because that hardwired sense of wonder and curiosity is not completely satisfied with reason and logic.
