  1. Should have instructed them to study John 11 "Lord, he stinketh!"
  2. "There are 16 articles on www.abouttheway.org with a wealth of descriptions---" http://www.abouttheway.org/ Thank you for the valuable resource, John.
  3. You see, Composer, a statement of faith is static. The New Dynamic Church, in contrast, is ever changing.
  4. "Does The Way International have a Statement of Faith?" No.
  5. A birthday toy for the birthday boy.
  6. I'm not so sure it backfired. The plan served Wierwille quite well during his lifetime. I don't think he gave a rat's behind what sort of success it would have in the long run.
  7. I'm inclined to believe that Wierwille actually wanted membership to be a revolving door. With each new member came a whole new set of opportunities for income. Like Amway. Do they really want the same bunch of "dealers" to stick around forever? Of course not. They want to bring in fresh faces with a whole new set of contacts. That's the secret of success for any MLM organization.
  8. *** Speaking in Tongues. What it is for. 1. To edify you. I Cor. 14:4. Jude 20. 2. To speak to God divine secrets. I Cor. 14:2. 3. To speak the wonderful works of God. Acts 2:11 4. To magnify God. Acts 10:46 5. To pray perfectly. Romans 8:26,27. 6. To give thanks well. I Cor. 14:17. 7. To have the spirit bearing witness with our spirit. Romans 8:16. 8. To know you are a joint heir with Christ. Romans 8:17 9. To strengthen you with might in the inner man. Eph. 3:16. II Cor. 4:16. 10. To be a sign to unbelievers. I Cor. 14:22. Mark 16:17. 11. It is rest to the soul. Is. 28:11,12. I Cor. 14:21. 12. To bring a message from God or for God to the people. Must then be interpreted for it would be in public. I Cor. 14:4,13,27,28.*** edit: This post was only intended to be a point of reference regarding "Way Theology".
  9. Now that I'm an old buzzard, maybe Hinckley would be a good place for me.
  10. Not trying to split hairs but I think it was more the "extramarital" than the "premarital" that got them in such a mess.
  11. Yes, it is a Doors song. Yes, this is the last line. Even though you didn't know the title is , you did, in fact, remember it.Your turn.
  12. Chill out, Dr WW. My statement was a response to Composer. It had nothing at all to do with you. I'm just saying that if Composer is going to offer critique of various facets of Way doctrine, he should do a bit more homework so he can understand what he's analyzing. He obviously does not understand the Way concepts of SIT as private prayer, excellor sessions, believers meetings or the circumstances of session 12.
  13. I never said I subscribe to Way theology. What I am saying is that if you are going to have a legitimate discussion of Way theology, you should, at the very least, have an accurate understanding of the subject matter. You, apparently, do not.
  14. Married, male leadership, such as limb leaders, who would have attractive, young, single (and married) gals clean their houses when their wives were out of town on ministry business. Sometimes they would need to work until the wee hours of the morning to make sure everything was spiritually in order. And, if you voiced any sort of suspicion, YOU were the one who was "off the word" for having evil thoughts about your brothers and sisters. That's the kind of "stuff" I'm talking about.
  15. Apparently you haven't done your homework. According to Way theology, the one who speaks in tongues does the interpretation of it as well.
  16. Would we have to speak in tongues there?

  18. I did not know the scope or depth of it until I learned the details here on GSC. I had seen some questionable activities but chalked them up to isolated incidents. There was no internet. We didn't even have easy access to phones in FLO. It's important to note, in my opinion, that even when you did see something that raised a red flag, you were supposed to renew your mind and not think evil of your brothers and sisters. Telling your leader that you thought something fishy was afoot was a bit like announcing you had an unrenewed mind and were spiritually weak. In fellow laborers, any activity of this sort would have gotten you tossed out of the program. (At least for the rank and file) The suspicious activity that I saw did not necessarily involve people at the rank and file level. That makes it even harder to speak up, not knowing if your observations are accurate.
