See, this is the kind of stuff that people who have never been in a control oriented group have a hard time understanding when they say, "Why didn't you just lie about such and such?"
-
And even though you found out they really got the info from Johnny Tattletale, it was Gawd who gave them revvy to ask Johnny in the first place.
-
"They can't read your mind, but God can give leadership revelation that you are lying or that you haven't done your required assignment, etc." Anyone else remember that stuff?

CANCER AND THIS And, according to Ch!s G33r, VPW willfully committed suicide. (Though C.G. couched it in a bit more flowery phrasing.) Why is that important? Page 21/item 17/AC: ("suicide is caused by a devil spirit.") [paraphrased]

This is from the Advanced Class. I have it in my notes on page 18 where VPW talks about how possession runs in families. He said it takes a spirit of murder a long time to seek out and indoctrinate a fitting host. That was also his rationale for why depression, alcoholism, etc. seem to have familial connections. Come to think of it, VP, Harry and Don all died from cancer, another malady he claimed was caused by devil spirit possession. -
Shoot! Now I can't remember where that's from. Maybe the POOP paper? You know, the thing about how Ol' Vic just turned his back (or was it his face?) to the wall and simply gave up living 'cause his po' widdle heart was broked..

Maybe she'd just turn her back to the wall and die of a broken heart like Daddy Vic did.

Yes, and I'm sure there were people who flexed those rules, as evidenced by the people who got the bum's rush from the program. The thing that may be hard for you to understand, though, soul searcher, is that we were conditioned to believe that leadership could operate the revelation manifestations to know if we had done something wrong or were lying. In reality, this information may have come via "snitches" or they could have simply stumbled on some bit of information by chance. Now, if they (leadership) were found out regarding their source of information, they could simply say that God gave them revelation to ASK Billy Bob or that God gave them revelation to STOP at the hamburger joint where they witnessed some infraction. Pretty convenient control technique. -
It's not like any of these folks are spring chickens, know what I mean, Vern? They only have to concern themselves with making it last for the relatively short period of time they are likely to be sharing this planet.

You are correct, sir. It is, indeed, The Wall. (More specifically, .) -

There was no alcohol permitted in Fellow Laborers' "houses". Drugs were off-limits, too. (mid 1970s) -

"How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?" -
Yeah, that's quite a stretch from the "no-debt policy" that The Way turned it into.

I think it's normal to feel a sense of gratitude. That being said, I also think it can cross the line into manipulation if you don't watch it closely. For all I know, maybe that's what the scripture means when it says "Owe no man anything."

Sorry B., that's not it. ---------------------------- "I know it must have killed them to have to sit and play all of those songs the way they did. But, hey, that's why they get paid." Exactly!

Trophy mentality "Wouldn't it be great if (insert name of famous actor/singer/sports star/politician, etc.) took the class? Then people would be clamoring to sign the green card." It's really no different than an old, tried & true sales technique from the days of door-to-door salesmen. ("You know, Mrs. Jones, your neighbor, Mr. Smith, bought two of these just yesterday.")
