It's a paramutation of ethnocentricity. To some degree, it's necessary for the health and survival of a group. Allowed to grow uncontrolled, though, it can lead to undesirable results.

It is, indeed, Morning Dew. However, it was written by Bonnie Dobson. Here is the original, acoustic version. (inspired by the novel, "On The Beach" by Nevil Shute)

I'm sure you'll think of something.

Animals in heaven. I remember when that topic made its way around the fellowships. One school of thought was based on the 3-fold nature of man (ie: no spirit= no place in heaven.) The opposing school of thought was that God would allow them in because He knew they would "bless us"..... St. Peter's pit bull with a Super Duper Pooper Scooper..... Now that's a sight I'd like to see.

It was like The Da Vinci Code for its day and time.

Now, here's kind of a funny story, in retrospect. Before I "got into the word", I was pretty active in the local theatre and music scene in Cleveland. I wrote/co-wrote lots and lots of songs. Almost all of them were copyrighted. (Though they are now in public domain.) In about 1973, I approached one of the premier (at the time) ministry music groups and offered to let them use my music, even change whatever they might need to make it "right on". They totally blew me off. Couldn't be bothered to even listen to what I had. Like a kid who turns his nose up at a particular kind of food without so much as tasting it. So, now, even though they have lapsed into public domain, they remain intact, just as I, along with my musical partner, wrote them all those years ago....unadulterated by Way dogma.

I thought I heard a baby cry this morning I thought I heard a baby cry today You didn't hear no baby cry this morning You didn't hear no baby cry today

...and why is that supposed to be a bad thing?

Maybe it's a bit like the wee Dutch lad, Hans Brinker, who used his finger to plug the hole in the dike, eh?

Yeah, I know it's in the Bible. But, how can it be explained in plain English without a Biblical reference?

Well, I thought I'd better ask because "the integrity of the herd is always at steak".

I have a cassette tape around here, someplace, called "Thank You, Dorothy/Thank You, Rhoda". I haven't listened to it in so long, I'm not even sure if I still have a machine that will play it.

What the he!! does that even mean? (in plain English) Geeze! I hope the definition doesn't include the operation of "the law of believing".
-
Yeah, he was a big heel----eerrrrr.
-
That's an impolite way of saying, "shut up". edit: (I hope that didn't sound too bitter.)
-
So.. what is really wrong with the concept of being "bigger"?

It's an insult----plain and simple. (I hope that didn't sound too bitter.)

It was taught by D@nn^ R^nd^ll, VP's personal secretary. I took it live. I have nothing against this poor lady, but, it seemed like she'd been roped into a "den mother assignment" that she dreaded like the plague. I have the syllabus in front of me. PART III CONNECTIVES (Little Words With Big Jobs) Eight pages to study the nuances of words like if, and, but, or, because, for, since, only, therefore, wherefore, likewise........ Sure those words are important. But, couldn't I have just as well learned about them in an English Lit. class instead of wasting my life in some two bit Bible scam? PART II REFERENCE BOOKS E.W. BULLINGER How To Enjoy The Bible "Buy the book---Read only what you've been taught in this class----it gets 'off The Word'." (I hope that didn't sound too bitter.)

Ya know, it's hard to not laugh at a site that can't even spell "debunking" correctly. The Dubunking of Victor Paul Wierwille --Under Construction-- SOURCE (I hope that didn't sound too bitter.)

We were salesmen (and ladies), working without commission, even paying for the privilege of hawking Wierwille's Super Elixir. What did we lead people to? We lead them to a pyramid scheme that duped them into joining our ranks. And so the monster grew and multiplied. (I hope that doesn't sound too bitter.)

Nothing---and I mean nothing ----could ever come close to the boredom elicited by "Basic Keys To Research". Think about how ironic that is in light of The Way promoting itself, in part, as a "research" ministry.

I've searched for him, too. I've come up empty handed. I think he and Snowball Pete might have been off preaching to the trees when the census was being taken. edit: I hope that didn't sound too bitter.
