  1. When I drifted away from "da ministry" in 1990, it was partly because of personal commitments and partly because I had gotten fed-up with the organization, itself. I hadn't given up on God at all. In fact, I continued to use PFAL materials to "witness" to people. However, I was careful not to refer them to any sort of twig or branch or whatever. Ironically, it was a search for a copy of the PFAL book that led me to GreaseSpot Cafe. I did, though, feel like I had "tripped out" because I had left what I thought at that time to be "the one true household". That set me up for a lot of guilt. As a result of what I have learned at GSC, I no longer feel guilty about leaving. I didn't really "trip out" on anything. All I did was leave a cult. Why should I feel guilty about that?

  3. We could go through a sequence of scenarios that places the focus on the druggist, as well. For example: 1.)The druggist should not budge on the price because he can do as he wishes with something that is his. 2.)The druggist should be flexible to the situation, in the spirit of benevolence......etc., etc.
  4. Let's face it folks, someday, we're all gonna wake up dead.
  5. They don't call it The Fountain of Living Waters for nothing.
  6. I think it was called "Herbie's Love Scab".

  8. You know, after Dorothy looked behind the curtain, she knew The Wizard was a fraud, but, some of these people I see on facebook and whatnot have looked behind the curtain and still refuse to believe what's right there in front of them. It's sad. BTW....The twister was caused by Dorothy's negative believing
  9. The average person uses 75 gallons of water a day. (Cooking, cleaning, showers, laundry, etc.) That, of course, is based on the lifestyle we are accustomed to in the U.S.A. Even when you factor in rationing for the circumstances, how far do you think a 50 gallon barrel of water go?
  10. It's just an expression. It simply means that, in times of extreme stress, many people will ponder the existence of a higher power. It's not necessarily literal or all-encompassing. LINK
  11. Well, not trying to downplay the severity of the issue, but, yes, by Wierwille's definition, rape would be a spiritual event.
  12. Yes, I forgot that one. And, in conjunction with proper etiquette rules, Moses first tasted the food before requesting the condiment.
  13. g'night excie This is what I have to say to this guy. PPPPFFFFFTTTT!!
  14. I wonder what covenant we took at "the initiation into the inner sanctum". Was it the covenant of horseradish? Maybe it was to remind us that The Way will forever leave a bad taste in our mouths.....(Give me a little time, I'll find a scripture to back it.)
  15. Well, you could always ask. Of course, that would send the message to him that you are interested in a dialog. It doesn't sound like you are. I know I wouldn't be.
  16. I think it was supposed to be a derogatory reference to Kristen. It's a common acronym, referring to someone who is a "pain in the azz".
  17. What happened with Wierdwille was the result of him being a self-centered pig. A man who is in a position of authority is not supposed to take advantage of the vulnerabilities of those for whom he is responsible. PERIOD.
  18. The covenant of salt has its foundation in ancient history. Its a long standing custom of man, for the most part. But, is it dictated by scripture? Here are the only three occasions I know of that it is mentioned in the Bible: II Chronicles 13:5 (NIV) Don’t you know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt? Numbers 18:19 (NIV) 19 Whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and your sons and daughters as your regular share. It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the LORD for both you and your offspring." Leviticus 2:13 (NIV) Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offering ------------- These scriptures are directed at specific individuals and specific groups. There is nothing in the scriptures that indicate it is to be practiced in a wide spread sense. In fact, there is nothing to indicate the specifics of how it should be performed. It's simply a tradition of man... ageless, widespread, and documented in the Bible, perhaps, but not a ritual prescribed by scripture.
  19. In my opinion, it really belongs here as much as it does in doctrinal because it deals with an interpretation of that section of scripture that was somewhat unique to The Way, especially the original sin part that Wierwille said we would just have to take his word on. That, in itself, makes it "About The Way".
  20. Isaiah Chapter 38 38:1In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. 38:2Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, 38:3And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 38:4Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, 38:5Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. Notice that it doesn't say WHY he turned his face to the wall, only that this is what he did. It doesn't even say that this was customary. Unless there is another section of scripture that gives more insight, I would rank this as speculative, private interpretation. Oh, but wait. Pillai lived in the land where the Bible was written, so, of course, that automatically made him an authority on things that happened 2,000+ years before his lifetime
  21. You might say he is one of the reasons this site exists. http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/waydale/waydale-lawsuit/
  22. Everything they do is rooted in either making money or saving money. When I was a fresh graduate of PFAL, I asked someone in leadership (in sincerity) why, if we wanted to reach large masses of people with the message of PFAL, didn't we offer to place the materials in public libraries and offer the class, free of charge. You can imagine the sort of convoluted logic that was given, explaining how I just didn't understand the spiritual aspects involved.
  23. I think, as we age, we all go through a phase where we view the future of humanity as hopeless. My grandparents did, my parents did, I did, and, in time I'm sure our kids will, too. Maybe this is what gave birth to existentialism. But, life goes on, just as it has for eons before us. I wonder what people in "the dark ages" thought about when they wrestled with life's mysteries.
