Yeah. That's what fellow laborers was supposed to be. Spend two years learning "stuff" and go back home as a better equipped leader. Uh huh. <_<

I won't ever leave-but you want me to stay nothing you could do-that could turn me away, hanging on every word-believing the things I heard being a fool

"Mission Creep" Isn't that what it said on wierwille's name tag?
-
John, I'm not sure if you realize it or not, but, it's "black or white", "all or nothing" statements like this that prompt defensive responses from other posters. Regardless of your political leanings or mine, not ALL democrats accuse ANYONE (read:EVERYONE) who disagrees with Obama of being a racist. Aside from the fact that your analogy is a strawman meant to draw attention away from the other poster's position, it's not even a valid position in and of itself. It's not valid because it assumes the "absolute".

All I got was a dingy old truck stop. :(

I don't find it especially "sad" that some people longer consider themselves Christians. It simply is what it is. It will only make you "sad" if you believe that Christianity is the only valid belief system worth following. And, if that is the case for you, that's fine, as long as you don't use that belief to judge and rate others. That would be elitist. Some people, however, have found that other belief systems, or combinations of belief systems, work better for them. You have to go with what works for you, not the next guy. I suppose, though, a lot of it eventually comes down to the issue of eternal life. Not everyone views that as the single most important aspect of their belief system. For example, there is no eternal life aspect to Judaism. Does that make it a bad belief system to follow? Only if eternal life is the key element one is seeking. Even then, there are other belief systems besides Christianity that focus on the afterlife.

Celebrity recuitment is really quite a different animal. I like to call it trophy mentality. It's when you recruit someone who has an established celebrity status because you think it will make an impression on potential clients. It's not unique to The Way. In fact, it's actually a tried and true sales technique that used to be popular with door-to-door salesmen......Here's a slight variation on the technique:..."You know, Mrs. Jones, your neighbor, Mrs. Smith, just bought one of these. She loves it and you know what a great housekeeper she is.."

My grandmother always ran the grease through a strainer and put it in the "ice box" for future use. You haven't lived until you've had a cheese and tomato sandwich fried in bacon grease.
-
Used in context: Believer #1>>> I haven't see Joe around lately. Believer #2>>> That's because he tripped out about a month ago.
-
In The Way, it essentially meant you had forsaken your commitment to "the ministry"..
-
Speaking of jargon, I find it mildly amusing, for some reason, that, in The Way, "tripped out" meant something entirely different than it meant to the general populace. I'm just sayin'
-
John, what WW is talking about is "jargon", not "language" per se. I think you probably already realize that. This need to argue over the nuances of semantics seems to be a residual effect. I have often noticed it in people who have a previous history of involvement with The Way.

OMGeepers creepers! There are 3 T's in Twitter! That really DOES have heavy spiritual meaning!
-
It isn't easy , submersing yourself in all those rrrrrrrrivetting studies.

He wasn't MY uncle!

Well, we attempted to dissect "holy spirit" in PFAL III. That hardly seems fair, either.

Do excellor sessions count as lab credits?
-
"Honey, the guys and I are gonna stop at the bar for a couple of hours." "Hmmmmmmm... Will those be quarter hours or semester hours?"
-
But, it should be noted those are "semester" hours. A "quarter" hour is the equivalent of about .67 semester hours. Thus, it would take about 180 hours to earn the BS or BA under the quarter system. Likewise, it would take about 90 quarter hours to earn an Associate under the quarter system I'm just saying you have to use a "common denominator" when making these comparisons.
-
I got an Associate of Applied Science many moons ago. Then, I worked on a second one until, with only about 3 hours to go, personal circumstances forced me to abandon that effort. Though I've never had any delusions about he value of a "lowly" Associate Degree, I'm much prouder of the effort it took to attain that one than anything I ever accomplished in The Way..... with the possible exception of being able to make my own mayonnaise.

When the WCofE first came into the picture, there was talk of establishing a cooperative agreement with Kansas State Teacher's College. Did that ever materialize or was that just another carrot on a stick?

I think he should have stolen the drug, sold it on the black market, used the money to put he and his wife through the PLAF class and then enacted the law of believing to receive deliverance.

So, there you have it, Tony... Cat-licks, Buddhists, Bha'is, Wandering Jews and dirty, filthy heathens, all hangin' out on the same street corner....and diggin' it. Ain't life grand?
