I haven't heard that one in quite some time. What a great song! (I don't mind the "copy and paste" method. I mean, you have to click anyway, right?)

One of the biggest Lies from Hell TWI and (some?) Offshoots Perpetrated

In Studies in Abundant Living, Volume III (The Word's Way), there is a section called "Viewpoint: God's--Man's/Studies in Human Suffering". I can't attest to the accuracy/inaccuracy of this piece, but I think it shows that Wierwille was concerned enough that people would be interested in this subject to include it in the PFAL class. -
It's next to the "post" box.

While we are on the eye analogy: If the image that one eye is sending to the brain is too blurred different to be combined with the image the other eye is sending, the brain will make a choice. It will shut down the image it can not resolve. The condition is called amblyopia, or "lazy eye", though it's really not a "laziness" at all. If something isn't done to help the brain resolve the unclear image (such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, surgery) the brain will learn to ignore the image it doesn't like. If the situation lasts for too long, the brain will shut down the eye with the unclear image permanently. When this happens, the brain will refuse to process information from that eye, even if the image is subsequently resolved.....sound familiar? -

"Same material over and over again? How is that really different from college or the military?" Wow, John. You're scaring me here. You really don't see the difference? Most people who go through college follow a program of academic discipline. That means you follow a program that builds on itself in incremental steps. It's not at all "the same thing over and over". "The same thing over and over" would more aptly describe The Way's approach to learning.

I don't think it would change my theology in a broad sense, but I'm sure it would change the way I interpret some of the specifics of what he wrote..... like when you first discovered there were hidden (dark) meanings in some of the things Wierwille said. For the record....That does not mean I am comparing Wierwille to Paul. Just saying that sometimes you discover another layer of information in something that you thought you knew.

If devil spirits are real and fit the profile that was outlined in the Advanced Class, Wierwille, himself, was a poster child for possession.

Testing Fire-Proof Undies "Except, of course, that members of the Sanhedrin were expected to be married, over 30, and in good standing in the Jewish community." How do we know that to be factually accurate? Also, I think , though it definitely has doctrinal elements, it also belongs in About The Way because this basic premise regarding Sanhedren admittance was taught in PFAL to stress a point that Wierwille was making. (ie: Perhaps another Actual Error in PFAL?)

This may well go the way of wierwille's insistence that Jesus had his Bar Mitzva at the age of 12 instead of 13, despite the fact that Bar Mitzva ceremonies didn't exist in Biblical times. Though I haven't looked at this in any depth, it would initially appear that Wierwille's Sanhedrin "requirements" are along the lines of what we, today, might call an urban legend. Even if he was a member of the Sanhedren, though, it's no secret that, even today, homosexual people enter into heterosexual marriages for a variety of reasons. (Meaning he could have been married AND gay.) But, he does state that at the time of his writings he was not married. And don't forget, during that period of time, homosexuality could be punishable by death. That in itself would be good reason for Paul to live a life of conflicted allegiances.

Yeah, that's it....must be devil spirits.

Opera Buff was assigned to the town I had just left, which had 2 rather large, established branches. In fact, he was 2 blocks away from the very house I lived in for the first 10 years of my life.

"People are noticing the junkies in the area now, but they’ve always been here." Yes, the seedy side of TWI was always there. We just couldn't see it through our idealism coated glasses......everyone needs a new prescription, eventually.

I don't know if you realize this, but you've changed the subject from the Bible contradicting itself to God contradicting Himself. -
Well, then, another W.O.W. success story....

Yes, the product Wierwille ultimately sought to peddle was ABS.....the gift giver that keeps on giving.

Psst! Keep this under your hat. The original W.O.W. program was designed with one purpose in mind----sell PFAL. Page 2 Witnessing and Undershepherding...© 1974/The Way International 1.The basic reason we witness is to help people into the classes on Power for Abundant Living...

Here's where I think some people miss the boat. They think that if it's NOT inerrant, it must not hold anything of value. These are writings, observations, stories, parables that have been passed down for generations, hundreds of years, thousands of years. They have stood the test of time. Why? Because there are great lessons, great insights into the human condition, great wisdom regarding day to day living, contained in those pages. How unfortunate some would dismiss those lessons in toto simply because they may be shown to hold imperfections. -
You are correct to point out that it didn't happen "all the time". It did, however, happen. Even one time is enough to dispel the myth that they made assignments based on "revelation". Sorry, I just can't see how, in this era of information overload, V2P2 could be oblivious to his family history.
