  1. Tom Petty played this one on his Buried Treasure show yesterday. I thought some of you might enjoy hearing the original.
  2. The first one I went to was in 1972. I didn't have a tent. I ended up just putting my sleeping bag on the ground and crawling in. I guess when you're 21, it doesn't seem so bad. I can't imagine doing that now.
  3. Yes, why they continue to hold him in high esteem is really a whole 'nother ball of ear wax. Sorta, kinda reminds me of a woman who is subjected to extreme physical abuse by her husband but still, not only stays with him, but defends him. "Sure, he beat the livin' daylights out of me for the umteenth time again, but he's really a gentle soul, deep down inside."....Huh???
  4. Thanks, Steve. I think that cuts to the heart of it. This brings up another point. If a person knows Wierwille (I still capitalize due to the rules of the language.) was a fraud, but still refers to him as Doctor to add a perceived element of credibility to what they are saying, what does that make them? Or, to put it a bit more kindly, what does that make of whatever they are saying?
  5. ------------------------------------------- "You know Jesus wasn't really a defenceman for the Pittsburgh Penguins, don't you?" So what? -------------------------------------------- Do you considerate it disrespectful to point out that Wierwille's degree was fraudulent? And, no, it wasn't an "honorary" doctorate. What I think is disrespectful is the blatant deception he foisted on trusting souls, such as you and I. He disrespected our trust. This brings me to implied point #2.... What is it that compels you to compare him to Jesus, or any other Biblical figure, for that matter? This thread isn't about Jesus, the Bible, God or any other spiritually related subject. It's about the reluctance of some folks to acknowledge that Wierwille's credentials were fraudulent. I admit I tend to get a bit silly with it at times. The fact remains, though, that credentials, whether earned or bestowed "honorarily", ARE a big deal. Just ask our resident squirrel friend (or any of the many other posters with legitimate credentials) what is entailed in acquiring genuine credentials. You ask, "So what?", but I don't think you really want to know, do you?
  6. Well, it's about danged time, you wacky rodent! Congratulations!
  7. Most excellent and groovy responses. I do get the part about how it became like a part of his name, like "Sister Margaret". But, suppose you find out that Sister Margaret has been impersonating a Nun, all this time. Do you still call her SISTER Margaret? (I still think "Crown Prince Waysider" has a positive vibe about it.)
  8. From now on, I think I'd like to be referred to as "The Crown Prince". Well, I did manage to consume the better part of a fifth of Crown Royal, in one setting, many years ago. (Mamma Mia!)
  9. Why do people continue to call him Doctor, even though they know his doctorate was as phony as a three dollar bill? What motivates them to do that? It's puzzling. I mean, I can understand if someone isn't aware the guy was a fraud, but once you know, what's the point?

  11. Hmmmmm. Wouldn't that be like.......... more than a year ago??
  12. "No Man is an Island." No man is an island, entire of itself every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee. -- John Donne
  13. I'm not so sure "recycle" is the appropriate term. Typically, when you "recycle" something, you render it down to its more basic form, remove the impurities and start over. But, this stuff---well, it's really just "re-dressed" not "recycled", in my opinion.
  14. When you really think about it, objectively, it means the opposite of what it implies. The idea is that the person will become more and more dependent on the group to define their thoughts and opinions, not less. And, by being the person who does the undershepherding, it insures that you, also, will become more indoctrinated to accept and adhere to the group's beliefs....Standing on your own?...Not hardly.
  15. Fathers and Sons....Muddy Waters and a whole lot of his old friends PART 1 PART 2
  16. I don't really care what they look like. The heart of the issue is what they represent. (And, that ain't pretty.)
  17. People hurry by so quickly. Don't they hear the melodies In the chiming and the clicking And the laughing harmonies? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXM5ZsAfEZs
  18. Well, you should have figured I would post THIS. That one repetitive, dissonant chord just nails it all together, demonstrating how music theory "truth" can instantly turn into a "lie"....brilliant. Now, if you listen to Airplane's version, you'll notice they have "straightened out" that chord, thus, abandoning the essence of the original, subtle message, in my opinion....diluted for the masses.
  19. I'll bet they haven't M&A'd me because they haven't realized I'm gone yet. "We sure do love you." Yeah, suuuuure. You disappear..... and nobody even realizes you're gone. Uh huh.
  20. We need to bring our resident chemist out of retirement to address this one.
  21. Shouldn't that be a plate of familia? I'm just sayin'.
  22. Yes, friends, it's time again for some Homegrown Tomatoes.
  23. For the same reason the tabloid stories of two-headed babies always seem to happen on the other side of the planet.
  24. Hey! That sounds like something that could have been in the Witnessing and Undershepherding class.
  25. I've interacted with quite a few Amish folks over the years. Without getting into anything too specific, I have to say that the Amish lifestyle is probably not like what your perception might be if it's based on what you've seen and read in the news media. 'nother words----Things ain't always what they 'ppear to be. edit: Would you say The Way: Living in Love is a fair representation of life at Int.HQ?
