Money would be nice but, I'm not sure one can put a dollar value on what they took from us.

Maybe the analogy he was making is that, just like this vine bridge, the roots of his efforts are twisted and inexticable.

The Doctrine of the Trinity
waysider replied to Steve Lortz's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Re-examine your PFAL materials, John, especially the session that deals with the second coming. That's the one where VP compares the persecuted Jesus to the resurrected Christ and goes on to say that, when he returns, no one will spit in his face or beat him beyond recognition because, next time, "He's coming back as King of Kings, Lord of Lords. He's coming back as Lord God Almighty." The stark contrast between what Jesus Christ represented and what Christ Jesus represented was a theme that was frequently visited in countless teachings. Although VP didn't use the word "wimpy" specifically, the implication was made.....over and over. Do you not recall that we were never instructed to pattern our lives after the pre-crucifiction Jesus, we were instructed, rather, to pattern our lives after the resurrected Christ? And, don't even think about praying in Jesus' name, lest you be suspected of conferring with a devil spirit. -
Thanks, Roy Music has a way of reaching that which lives deep inside us, doesn't it? It's like a way to speak the unspoken.

Just take those old records off the shelf. -
Exactly, Twinky. There's nothing wrong with the video, itself, or the amazing foresight and diligence this sort of effort takes. But, as usual, in TWI inspired fashion, we see a loose comparison that lacks congruity. Yes, these people are building something. John is, likewise, building "something". That's about as far as the comparison goes. He might just as well have compared himself to someone building a latrine.

This city was chosen FOR me by the limb leader. I did not chose it. In fact, I was assigned to an entirely different city BEFORE I went into FLO, by a different limb leader, because, despite a lot of activity in that city, they had no Advanced Class grads to give an appearance of credibility as class instructors. Likewise, another city was chosen FOR my brother, who had also been active on the Cleveland scene before FLO. (I think he only stayed in that city for about a year, though.) Were my services needed here? Nope. I never did get anything new started here, mainly because I was at odds with some of the decisions that were being made at HQ, particularly the "needs basis" wages/salary idea. I saw people in the private sector here being exploited, with this being used as the excuse. It resulted in quite a few heated arguments with my then wife who was convinced that any decision coming out of New Knockwurst just HAD to be the real deal. I just faded into the existing scene, little by little...incrementally.

Sure. That's how I wound up living where I am. I could have left long ago but things just snowball...You know?....get married, buy a house, job commitments, kids, etc., etc., etc......Never did really like this place, though. Even after 35 years, I still call Cleveland my home....I'm weird like that. edit: I started a thread on this topic a few years ago. HERE

Maybe, but, Wierwille scoffed at those who called The Way a cult. As far as he was concerned, it was a lucrative MLM opportunity.
