  1. What happened to "free will" in all this? (I personally believe the story is fictional).... but here we have an example of Wierwille trying to get someone to conform to his wishes rather than allowing them to practice a lifestyle they probably chose via freewill.....literally *my Way or the highway*.
  2. She probably knew you were going to say that.
  3. This might be a crazy thought but maybe there was already an author using that name. I know it happens with acting. If there is already an actor in the union registered by your name, you have to go with something else. That's what happened to Tim Conway, whose real name is Tom Conway. Just a thought.
  4. Cars and girls are easy come by in this day and age, Laughing, joking, drinking, smoking, Till I've spent my wage.

I have to agree. It's not (usually) his opinions that come under fire, it's his posting tactics. (ie: straw man arguments, red herrings, blatant topic changes and diversions in general.) edit: and now we've spun into a meta-discussion. (a discussion of the discussion, itself)

"Marian Keech (real name: Dorothy Martin) was the leader of a UFO cult in the 1950s. She claimed to get messages from extraterrestrials, known as The Guardians, through automatic writing. Like the Heaven's Gate folks forty years later, Keech and her followers, known as The Seekers or The Brotherhood of the Seven Rays, were waiting to be picked up by flying saucers. In Keech's prophecy, her group of eleven was to be saved just before the earth was to be destroyed by a massive flood on December 21, 1954. When it became evident that there would be no flood and the Guardians weren't stopping by to pick them up, Keech became elated. She said she'd just received a telepathic message from the Guardians saying that her group of believers had spread so much light with their unflagging faith that God had spared the world from the cataclysm (Levine 2003: 206). More important, the Seekers didn't abandon her. Most became more devoted after the failed prophecy. (Only two left the cult when the world didn't end.) "Most disciples not only stayed but, having made that decision, were now even more convinced than before that Keech had been right all along....Being wrong turned them into true believers (ibid.)." Some people will go to bizarre lengths to avoid inconsistency between their cherished beliefs and the facts." SOURCE
  8. Hahaha! They're suffering from E.D. (ecclesiastical dysfunction)

I find it ironic it's called the "Advanced" Class when, in reality, it's some of the most primitive religious thought one might ever encounter.
  11. Very astute observation. In fact, in the Advanced Class, VP went so far as to tell us we could NOT do what he had done in directing God to break the rules of revelation. That privilege was reserved for him because (Insert implied reference to himself as the MOG here.).
  12. If it's any consolation, at least they're finding out now, before they invest decades of their lives into it.
  13. Well, the story line had to happen somewhere, didn't it? I think it's what you call a "co-inky-dink".

The Vicster had as much "spiritual ability" as a pet rock. He was a fraud. He may have done a rain dance or two. It might have rained. His dance didn't cause it to rain. Capisce?
  15. When my mother was alive, our springtime conversations would often turn to a discussion of what was blooming in our yards. There was 150 miles between us so the differences were often quite interesting. This year, with the weather being so unusual, I find there are things blooming in my yard that I never would have expected so early. For example, I have 2 Redbud trees in my yard. They are somewhat small and rather spindly, due to the shade of several large trees in the neighboring yard. They are several weeks ahead of schedule and loaded down with blossoms. This is what a Redbud looks like. (This is NOT my yard. LOL. I live in the city.) Anyhow....What's blooming in your yard?

It's some kind of technical thing. I have found that (2) is the limit in one post, unless you just do a copy/paste of the URLs. Then you can do several. I have no idea why. My technical skills are very limited.
  17. Yes, that's exactly what happened. (You'll just have to trust me on this.)
  18. Heh. I meant ones that are still ACTIVE in the organization. I was being sarcastic but I think I should have been more specific.
  19. I dunno. As far as I'm concerned, they're perfectly free to come here and post under their real names.
  20. Your sarcastic negativity just killed him. Shame on you.
  21. They could do a snail mail "blast". (as long as they don't use ABS to pay the postage.)
