  1. Nope. Not an effort to be PC on my part. Anyone who knows me in real life knows I don't give a rat's azz about being PC.(Nor did I reference any connection to genetics.) Through the years I have had many friends and coworkers that are either homosexual or transgender. I can assure you they did not all live the same "lifestyle". Ask yourself the question, "What is the heterosexual lifestyle?" There is no answer. Some live a sports centered lifestyle. Some live a music centered lifestyle. Some live a technology centered lifestyle and on and on and on. If someone is heterosexual, it simply means that their sexual attraction is directed at the opposite sex. If they are homosexual, their sexual attraction is directed toward the same sex. People aren't cured of their attraction. They just learn how to repress and deny it. (Think celibacy.) Don't even throw the old devil possession schtick in the mix. We'll be here forever with that one.
  2. Just a side note: The reason some people might find it offensive is because it's not a "lifestyle" any more than being heterosexual is a lifestyle. It's just one element of the individual's whole makeup. If we said a person lives a heterosexual lifestyle, what would that even really mean? Not all heterosexuals live the same lifestyle nor do all homosexuals live the same lifestyle. This is not directed at any one person. I'm only pointing it out because using it in this manner can cause the listener to disengage. Well, at least that's been my experience.
  3. Well, Rainbow Bridge is for animals, soooo.....Yep. Rainbow Bridge it is.
  4. I don't think Sky ever implied that the problems at HQ were limited to these three categories alone.
  5. Yeah, mid '70's, FellowLaborers. We had to use the pretense of going to the corner truck stop (Wayside Truck Stop) for junk food so we could have a few minutes to talk privately and try to figure out what the hell was going on. You couldn't let anyone know what you were discussing or even thinking, for that matter. And remember, information was awfully hard to come by back then. Plus, you could be mistaken. Then what?
  6. I thought "Keep the change" is what you were supposed to say as they handed you a scrum-diddly-ishous WOW Burger.
  7. I think when some of us caught glimpses of what we thought might be going on, we were subsequently gas-lighted. ("You must be possessed to even entertain such possibilities. Renew your mind.")
  8. Thank you so much. This is fantastic!
  9. I feel I must say that I never meant to disparage Mike (the person) in any way. He always took a civil approach when discussing matters with me. His ideas and beliefs were an entirely different story. Like so many of us, he, too, was an unfortunate product of the system.
  10. aaaaaaaand....we seem to have drifted into doctrinal waters.
  11. TLC said: "Maybe they were just trying to rattle some cages... yank a chain or two here or there. Trolling, I think they call it." Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, would ever put as much effort into trolling as Mike did into posting. He was firmly committed to the idea that the PFAL class came by revelation and was meant to replace the Bible. He said that when Christ returns he'll be holding a copy of the PFAL book in his right hand. (He didn't specify whether it would be hardbound or paperback.)
  12. Eat enough familia and you'll quckly understand the meaning of "a powerful series of purges".
  13. I'm not an accomplished bass player. I used to have a Fender P. It always felt heavy to me. I wasn't in love with it but I really did like the way it sounded. Fast forward....My hands started acting silly, so I got rid of it and got an Epiphone Viola because it has a short scale neck, and, being semi-hollow bodied, is much lighter,. I thought maybe that would be easier to play. And it was. Plus, I liked the sound after I outfitted it with round wound strings. It's not a high end machine but still quite nice for the price. I still have it but I can't play at all anymore. My hands refuse to cooperate. That happens when you get old. (or so I'm told.) Looks just like this one.
  14. This should probably be moved to the doctrinal forum as there are likely to be difficulties in comparing the two without touching on doctrinal issues. However, I haven't watched the youtube, so I could be mistaken.
  15. When I became involved in 1972, the mints and Drambuie were already an established protocol. That doesn't really answer how much but it does give some perspective on how long the practice went on.
  16. "Heck, at corps week, the corps were blamed for NOT STOPPING THE RAIN" R.O.A. (1973?) : There was a bad series of thunderstorms that left everything a muddy mess and temporarily knocked out the power to the main stage. Wierwille walked up the the, then live, microphone and smugly announced, "I'm still here!", like it was a major spiritual accomplishment. If you're still here, why don't you use your mythical law of believing to clear the weather? What a "maroon"!
  17. Written by Doc and Rosa Lee...........
  18. Thanks for those links, Rocky. It's especially important for us older folks, who have more occasion to have to deal with pain than some of our younger counterpart, to understand the dangers of mixing alcohol with acetaminophen.
  19. I seiously doubt that he ever thought of himself as having a problem. He also chain smoked Kool "shorties" like it was going out of style. His motto in life was "Do what you like as long as you like what you do." He died of metastatic cancer. (Liver and eye) The real kicker here, though, is that he taught alcoholism and cancer are caused by devil spirits. So, either he was wrong about the devil spirit thing or we were following a guy who was possessed. Quite a dilemma, no? BTW, His son, Don, and his brother, Harry, also died from cancer. edit: commas and stuff.
  20. Raf did quite a bit of really good work on this particular subject. I have no idea how to find it again.
  21. Yeah the secret initiation into the inner sanctum...... (Just 'cuz I'm feeling a little bit impish today.) HERE
  22. Just calling it an advanced class is a joke, in and of itself. It's not advanced and it's not a class. It's an indoctrination into a medieval type of thinking.
  23. Go easy on the eggnog, everyone. Happy Thanksgiving!
