  1. well, I updated Java yesterday, cleared all my caches and cookies, manually made grease spot a trusted site, tried IE and Firefox... And still, the same. so...I'll just lurk around the boards. But thanks for your help, Paw... you have a ton to do without this small excedrin headache, too. :) QT
  2. You're sweet to check in on me, WE :-) I see y'all chattin....but I can' come in...(warbling in bad singing voice) And Ah'm 'riginly from Vah-Jan-ya...I d'clare y'all sound like home!! hehe, QT
  3. ok :) Of course, they're not in different locations, like my work boards and work chat. Ah well. I'll just sit here in the corner. I'll be ok
  4. I am still persona non grata with live chat, paw...I really hope it's nothing I did. I would like to talk to everyone more rt, like before... and what's weird is the java chat I have for work is running fine. *sigh* QT P.S. I just tried it from my desktop, and no go there, either. I've never logged onto GSC from there, Paw. Is it possible you've banned my IP address?
  5. not me... I'll reboot, though, and try again
  6. Oh man...now I'm going to have to stop posting from bed...yeesh! hehe
  7. I left the webcam on again, didn't I?? hehehe
  8. hehehe, Stella is "Everybody's favourite Belgian Girl" - Just a nice lager, really. And yes, I'm still a newbie....cos I can see Paw's little newbie folder! Mmm...steak on the grill...inspired. I will mark that down for the weekend. QT
  9. Ok ... NOW I'm ready for the beer and pizza. Last night, I posted about the little guy being up late and my having to take a test this morning...well, here's the short version of the day. Got up early, got the boy off to school. Went to the college, took english placement test, scored perfectly, shocked advisor with score, but signed up for Microbiology and Lab. (The math will not be such a breeze for me, but that's on Tuesday). Got home, sorted work, sorted fella, went to school, picked up boy and drove him to his first assessment with the new speech therapist. She worked with him and for the first time, ever, (he is now 5), my son successfully blew bubbles out of a wand, made a sound come out of both the recorder and the harmonica. For a kid who is apraxic that's a big deal. then, got home, logged onto my new favorite site and caught up. I can't tell you how good it felt to accomplish these things without someone breathing down my neck or asking me how it felt to be "delivered." We're not out of the woods yet, but small steps, you know? So...I'll have a reassuringly expensive Stella Artois, please, please and a big greasy slice of pepperoni with mushrooms and extra cheese!!! QT
  10. This was a very strange thread for me to return to. I related in my first post on the forum that my ex had been involved with twi since the 70s, and I took the last pfal run in our area. So, coming home after the 5th session, he made mention of the poem you shared, WW, and I said, "I had no idea you were at all familiar with early literature." I started spouting off about early liturgical writings and poetry and all those things. I was a lit major, after all, before I quit in my senior year to be with him and twi. He replied, rather shocked, "No, Dr. W. wrote that." I am *sure* we're discussing the this very poem, and I remember my thought was "well, you're an <<his profession>> so why would you know?". I was afraid to contradict him even then. I later asked the guy running the class, whose name I am afraid I don't remember, though I can see his big stocky, frame and red face in my mind...he said he didn't think vpw wrote it, but reminded me that I shouldn't be argumentative with my "head". Yeah. My head whose idea of really fine literature was Irwin Shaw. I shoulda known then.... QT
  11. I always wanted to name one of our big shepherds or retrievers, "Atlas" It's just a thought... QT
  12. I hear you :-) And you're right...I looked at your other thread! lol I have been sneak-attached by my little boy. He was making sounds loud enough to rouse the neighbourhood, so I brought him in with me...and, of course, he has found my tribulation pretty amusing (at least I think he has). Oh, and it's especially intriguing since I have to be up early to take a placement exam in the morning. All my university courses were taken over ten years ago, before I, errrrrr, got twi-sidetracked. So, I have English Placement in the morning. I can sleep through that and do well...but he better not pull this for the math. It feels a bit strange to be going back to college and pursuing a new degree-path after all this time, but...here I go anyway! What about you? Packing it in for the night? Giving your compy a swift kick? hehe, QT
  13. I also did cache and cookie purges...
  14. Me too, WE... I've now rebooted for the fifth time and updated everything...so, we'll see. Hmph. And I used to think I knew my way around Java! QT
  15. I use firefox, and have the latest javas because we use a similar chat room for work I'm going to try updating anyway thanks, QT
  16. oooh...WE, I saw you logged in and myself logged into chat at the same time (you know as you scroll down the main forum page of GSC), and yet, I know I couldn't connect! :-)
  17. Hey Paw, When I try to log in chat, I get a message that says error U825 I've looked for the answer, but I can't find it. Can you help?
  18. You know, Keith, I have that hope. My recent experience has been that as people were leaving and HFs got smaller and smaller, the scrutiny was more intense and far more intrusive...you know what I mean? As in, the fewer of us there were, the more bitter and intense rained down the vituperation. QT
  19. ok, I'm going to hunt them again...I'll edit when there is success! QT I have success, thanks!
  20. Paw, I signed up through Itunes and got the latest broadcast, but is there a way I can download the ones you've already done? Only the one was available. I couldn't find it in the radio threads! Thanks, QT
  21. No, I'm as american as they come. I live in Maryland most of the time. My gentleman-friend is british and a resident of Denmark. He is here part of the year and we are there part of the year. I've traveled in Europe pretty extensively since my separation and leaving TWI...I will probably wind up in Sweden after I finish my nursing program. Being a writer is wonderful, but I like more human contact than just my computer :-) QT
  22. I can see everything now, Paw, and I think this is a great idea. I will know where to come for questions and help, first. Thanks! QT
  23. ok, last tentative foray, I promise. In this case then, since we're ending with Charles Grodin... King Kong Jessica Lange Big Fish would work. I do believe I've got it! ~QT
