  1. Haven't seen that video for years, D, but often have that song on my mix Cds.... thanks :-) qt
  2. ok, WW, I will play, too. :) (Edit here: To avoid confusion, this was in response to WORDWOLF's post) Spelling Basics: Spelling it right English Learner English for Everybody HomeSchool Curric. Spelling Course These are some quick internet resources, which are free, which deal with the subject of spelling. ....next? qt
  3. It is now, and at the back of the WAP syllabus is the "Tithe doth still abide" article, as an appendix. They have always had to be especially careful about demanding money, because that does cross the line, so to speak, between extortion and giving, but when I was involved right up until the day I left there was harping about the money. I was told to Abundantly Share (not tithe) on my Alimony/Child Support which isn't enough to p*** out a paper-fire...and the "blessings would open up for me." Erm...yeah...and my kids eat what, exactly? Anyway, I have that article, if anyone is interested... QT P.S. "IF you don't abundantly share, you will never receive the full effulgence of God's Blessing." I believe that, in translation, is, "Give, or else."
  4. that's just fabulous, igotout...I've been giggling ever since... qt
  5. I have never been to hq of twi, I wonder sometimes what I would think of it. qt

    my date

Hmmm...I've been thinking on this as I've studied this morning, because thinking about dates is more fun than thinking about algebra. I've had some great dates...I've had some real toilet-dramas (including the guy, who after dinner, as we got back into my car -- I drove -- reclined my passenger seat, undid the top button of his jeans, looked at me, looked at his zip, looked back at me...needless to say, I stepped out of my car, flagged a policeman, looked at the guy, looked at the cop, looked at the guy...he, errrr, departed quickly). I suppose we all have the image of what would be, for us, the perfect date. I've come close, but I've never had my perfect one...at least, not yet. It's really simple for me: Meet at Ship's Cafe in Catonsville. My gentleman friend will order my favourite bourbon and a cider chaser. He will order 2 dozen gigantor crabs. We will eat mass quantities. Conversation won't lag, and won't be forced. After that...anything's good. What is your idea of a perfect date, WE? (and others, too) Just considering these things, qt
  7. hi Sportsfan! I, too, am often confused, and occasionally find myself thinking things that were just melted into my brain after a while. I am still new, too, and I can say that everyone here has been interesting and helpful. Take your time to wade through the posts...and as I've noticed, questions here are encouraged... as is lively debate... Very high on the healthy-meter, in my opinion. ~~qt
  8. maybe not money (though I thought of that), perhaps though...mycuriosity, compounded daily? hehe, qt
  9. The Horror! The Horror! I'm flashing back to 10 gallons of water and jars of tempera paint, spread over two children who decided to make a pool in the basement, and broke out of the nice, convenient play area. errr...oilfield...eeeek! (and I'm following the other thread, I believe you're still overseas...? Come home safe!)
  10. Hi D... I'm not sure if you were really asking or not, and my information is over a year old, but the criteria when I left, to attend the advanced class was: 2 foundational waps 2 intermediate waps The current equivalent of DTA proof you're debt-free 16 yoa or older advanced class studies (there were 11 little short ones, I think) and money to enter. ...and your HFC BC/LC has to approve it, too. That's what I have on my list, I think it's accurate. QT
  11. I'm reading your posts with interest, Bagpipes, (and the others, too, I assure you). I feel and see much the same. the experiences are fresh for me still, and I often think of the good people I know--those still involved. I remember at times, driving to HF and repeating certain phrases to myself, trying to force myself to believe certain line items that made no sense. I think what I hate most is the phrase, "Well, you're just going to have to trust in the revelation." As an explanation for a question that my leadership didn't have an answer for. Because that seems to go directly against the initial promise that draws many people in, in the first place, which was - The Word has an answer for every situation, even in this day and time. I know so many people who really want to do good in and with their lives...and now when I think of the condemning phrase I heard used by leadership against those who'd left twi, "Well, so-and-so has just sold out to sense logic and the world--they don't really care about God." I can easily see how that can be turned around and cross-applied. Perhaps I am merely cynical, but when I look at the current board, I see some savvy, jaded characters, happy to live on the backs the genuine.* *understanding that corruption is rife through the system and not limited to the top tier. Anyway, just my initial thoughts on this, qt

    my date

It sounds like a great time already, WE. I don't know what current protocol is either, but I do know that when I want some sugar, I rub my fella's shoulder with mine. It's a personal habit, perhaps, but a cue to look for. What a lucky girl to have such a nice date to look forward to herself... qt
  13. Having done numerous trips in just this manner with the Ex (this'd be my ex, not the wonderful ex10, or exCath)....all we managed to do was plan misery into the trip and fun right out, for exactly that niggling little reason mentioned above..."why didn't we get to mile marker X by 11:17.23 AM" etc. And...when I think of all the countries I'd have missed seeing because I KNOW those trips wouldn't have made it past the smell test...hmph. I'm glad I chose travel and some small part of adventure. Getting to Budapest, then Nagykanisza, Hungary was a goat-roping cluster-f*** if ever there was one...all plans totally shot in the foot from the moment I left BWI...but... would I have missed it? Nope. QT
  14. Wow, happy birthday. I love birthdays...anyone's birthday...I never miss a chance to celebrate! QT
  15. Paw...you're a genius! I got in! Thanks!! QT
  16. Thank you all, very very much. I've spent much of my free time reading, again, today. I've had some laughs and some tears... and I think you're all top shelf. Thanks again, QT
  17. Godiva Tiramisu Check out this Godiva Tiramisu, Pond...it can be adapted endlessly and I use it most often. Having married a man of Italian descent...I made tiramisu my business. Then, discovered he preferred cannoli hehe, QT
  18. I do, Pond, I will find it and post it for you when I finish this batch of emails! QT
  19. ok, I'll 'fess up. I have a wombat (the cover art from found you, little wombat), a sheffield united crest, and a large medicine buddha. Right shoulder, left shoulder, right thigh respectively. and...the oldest is just over 2 years. I was all grown up and bought them wif me own dosh, as it were :) QT P.S. Now anyone from my area should know who I am...hehe
  20. I love the chinchilla, Pond...he cracks me up. My parrot is a challenge to live with. I have 3 distinctive telephone rings in the house. He mimics them all perfectly..."ring ring, click (that is the sound of me punching the talk buttong, then Hello?" he answers in my voice. Very strange. *pressing my nose against the glass of the livechat* I can see you all....but I can't come in. Not since the first time I tried. *looks and thinks you're all eating tirimisu* No...wait...that's me!
  21. Oh dear. Oh, dear - Oh, dear - Oh, dear... WE, I have three tattoos (one is an extremely cute wombat). I have double pierced ears (and a stud on the left top), and am generally to be found with a blue-tooth on my head that makes me look more like a borg than not...(it's pink, it matches my phone). Does this mean we can no longer be friends?? *snigger* QT P.S. I see a lot of it, too, Galen
  22. hi everyone, Because I have no pertinent, first-hand knowledge to add to the thread over at "do we have proof..." I wanted to add this here, because others have addressed it in one form or another. I am new here to the cafe, as everyone knows or can see, I'm sure. Before I posted at first, I'd read a lot...since I opened my mouth, I've read more and more. It seems that in almost every thread, a sentence or reference will stand out for me, and I will start searching in the threads. I know that there will always be those people who come onto forums (I address this generally not to a specific poster here), looking for the salacious, for the "gossip", for the intimate and horrific details of traumatic events...to view the car wreck, so to speak. BUT I would like to say that the things I've learned by searching the threads--even though I've been angered by the actions of some and heart-broken by the treatment toward others--have opened my eyes in a lot of ways and given me a more solid base of understanding for those "feelings" I used to have when I thought I smelled duplicity or when something just seemed "a little off." I see every day, in my job, that readers want a chronological, narrative version of events--preferably indexed and cross-referenced, with the really gory bits done up in red. If only to thwart that kind of mentality, I would suggest that pulling out "evidence" or archiving single posts under the general headings of "abuse stories" or other heading would be awful. One thing I haven't seen mentioned (and that doesn't mean it hasn't been) is that this is a discussion forum and the people sharing are writing from their own lives, or the lives to those close to them for the most part. There is no shield...no psychologist/psychiatrist writing a book where an individual is made up of a composit of case studies. We are talking about real people, with real concerns and I respect those. Searching the threads has not only helped me learn how to navigate gsc better (practically), but it has given me a great deal of context for all the posts I've read, simply because of the threads which inspired them, the times they were written, and what the general mood at hand was. I shudder, truly, at some of the things that I've read here...and shaken my head at some things too. But, I am daily more informed, and I think that has to count for something. And I don't believe that I'd feel nearly as able to tell my local LC to go pi$$ up a rope, as I did, when he called to see if "I would be blessed to type his article." No, it would not bless me. So, no, I did not do it. Funny how I get ignored, literally, for months and months only to be called upon when they thought to bless me to do work for them. Yeah, I have my own deadlines now, ta. I also want to apologise if I've misposted here, or elsewhere. It's strange, I'm rarely intimidated by anything these days, but I have come to have great respect for everyone here in a short time--regardless of perspective or opinion. Free exchange of ideas means so much to me, especially now. Now, having derailed my own rant, let me finish by saying this: Taking the time to search the threads, read older posts, all over this cafe, in my opinion, is pretty important for us new types, and probably helps you old-timers (said with affection), too. There is already a good heading and classification system in place, and having lived for over 10 years in TWI, I can affirm that the best way to get to know about the things that are discussed on this board is to read as much as you can, get the history...twi was/is notorious for taking things out of context and twisting them to fit a predetermined model...I'd hate to see that happen here. The insidious things brought on by twi were not only of a sexual and abusive nature...the small intrusions into the small everyday lives of people who wanted something special--like God--in their lives shouldn't be forgotten. Rotten to the core? yeah. Rotten corps? Some, a lot, not all for sure--you bet. Rotten roots? Looks bad to me and I lived a little of it. So...just read the threads, search them and think. This may belong elsewhere, and I hope I've not over-stepped. I am still new. QT
  23. Niiiiice :) We have a big, mouthy (or is that beaky) parrot, and a chinchilla. they have a tacit understanding to avoid each other. but...wouldn't trade 'em! ooook....goin' to bed. I have to drive to virginia first, tomorrow, then atlantic city. Night night
  24. Now, now....not a thing wrong with two consenting adults and a pole... wait a minute, we're talking about a cat here. What's she going to buy? Gourmet friskies and coloured nail caps? hehehe *cracking open a nice cider* Mmmmmm....Strongbow
