Eagle, I think you were right in your assessment about use of the word "host" and "hostess", however, I think you were wrong in how you handled it. I did that once, reproved Craig in front of the whole lunchroom, while I was in the Corps. Even though I was correct, I felt really bad later doing it that way .... I could have easily done it privately if it was such an important issue. I felt like a real idiot making a public spectacle of myself. Went to Craig's office later and apologized, and he accepted my apology.

Waterbuffalo, I think the phenomenon you speak of is not unique to twi or twi-related groups.

I was participating in twi events for 19 years, but at various times during those 19 years, I chose not to participate, so I know what it is like to depart and what that feels like as I felt it more than once. Do you still believe in speaking in tongues? The best advice I can give you is to ask God to help you. When I feel consumed with trouble ... among other things I pray in tongues much, and also with my understanding, casting those cares on God. SIT is a continuous comfort for me.

I totally agree. -
They were both remarkably similar in the sense that both taught that sin does not separate people from God, among other similar teachings. Here's an excerpt from one of Dr. Luther's statements: From "Let Your Sins Be Strong, from "The Wittenberg Project"; "The Wartburg Segment", translated by Erika Flores, from Dr. Martin Luther's Saemmtliche Schriften, Letter No. 99, 1 Aug. 1521.)

They were in full agreement that God did not forsake Jesus, and STFI adds more from there. If VP missed the idea that Jesus was actually quoting from Psalm 22, and if Jesus actually was, then VP missed it. Nobody really knows for sure. STFI's teaching is compelling, but even STFI says that shabak can be translated "reserved" or "kept" which is what VP taught. The main point, I believe, is that God did not forsake Jesus, and we readily see that from other scriptures, from what subsequently happens after, and from good old common sense. -

Mike, here's one that's not true: "Tithing brings wings to life" -
Right on WhiteDove. Another example of an additional VP source is Martin Luther. Remember the books we were encouraged to read and the film about Martin Luther .... justification by faith... not by works. VP taught these things and showed us his source. And if VP is a false prophet, so is Luther.

How do TWI Staffers save $$$ fo the future?

Excellent points Lookout. Phantommeister, another point that crossed my mind was application of the Golden Rule, in this situation. -
The worst recurring dreams I have is when I literally have to pee, and I am dreaming I am in a bathroom ready to pee. Wonder what it means. :)

How do TWI Staffers save $$$ fo the future?

But suppose they never leave twi? Suppose you get to have YOUR part, but your sister doesn't get to have HER part? Hatred of twi notwithstanding, that is not fair to your sister, is it? Putting myself in your sisters shoes, I would want to be treated fairly. That means that if your parents are distributing the money fairly and equally to their children, or try to, that your sister would have to get her piece of the pie just like you do, regardless of her chosen religion. You think you may know what's best for your sister and her children? How will she react when she finds out you are trying to influence your parents decision because of your dislike of twi? -
The one I saw personally was tithing ("you cannot afford not to tithe" etc etc..) and I overcame that fear when I experimented a little and quit tithing and discovered that God was still blessing me. That was my experience, even though I cannot prove that tithing doesn't bless folks since there are others who have said so.

I never heard of twi paying someone less because of inheritance money. Your sister can simply sock it into an IRA or something and save it for her retirement. I'd check that one out again to make sure... -

The concept that God actually forsook Jesus is very hard for me to accept, preposterous even, and contradicts many other scriptures, not to mention plain common sense. Would you forsake your son, in a time of extreme pain, grief and death? Heck no. Best teachings I've heard on this subject are from VP, and the one on this thread from STFI, who learned it first from VP and augmented it. The proof that God did not forsake his son is the resurrection. Right on! -
Galen, congratulations. It's nice to know our tax dollars are doing somebody some good. Have one on me:

I just downloaded the clip on my desktop and it's great. My only suggestion is that the volume be louder. I had to crank everything up to maximum.

Bagpipes, When I first took the Advanced Class in 1978, I hadn't been going to twig for 6 months prior to that point. Now one not only must be a faithful participant, but also report to them once a month with an update? Golly they must have a lot of free time on their hands.

I just got an email from STFI about this subject and thought it'd be appropos to share: Healthy Submission -
I still love reading Proverbs and do respect it greatly, even tho' the author murdered raped and pillaged in the name of God.

You seem to base your belief on the false accusation that it is idolatry that makes us hold fast to the truths we have learned. I hold fast to them because for one, they make sense and they work, for me, and also from some biblical admonition to "prove all things, hold fast that which is good". We learned lots of good things in twi. Golly, if we all went around accusing others of idolatry because we hold fast certain truths, we'd be calling each other idolators all day long. But I don't play that game, it's just a waste of time. Surely there are better things for us to do, like pray for each other; ... just one thing we learned in twi that works.
