  1. Golly, that's the basic general idea of "as He is, so are we in the world", and "it's Christ in You, the Hope of Glory". That may be the whole point of Christianity itself, to walk as Christ walked and help people. That wasn't the impression I got from the folks I fellowshipped with.
  2. it is Burt with a "U" No Henry Fonda.
  3. Wow, I think you're striving to surpass Wordwolf in the spin department.
  4. I may agree with you if Wierwille said that he (Wierwille) was the head of the church. But Wierwille taught that Christ is the head of the Church. Another teaching that seems to be absent, in some folks' memory...
  5. Watersedge, Just so you know, when Dr. Wierwille taught "the Word takes the place of the absent Christ", he was saying that Christ is now physically absent. He also taught that it's "Christ in You, the hope of glory". Doesn't sound like he was absent there. But some folks' recollection of that teaching appear to be absent.
  6. Could also be a derogatory way of expressing the biblical concept of doulos.
  7. I will continue to give quotes but I don't wanna give away the time period just yet. :) Yes of course humans are the main characters.
  8. Referring to the Third Heaven and Earth, basically. I think what you and I did according to his Word, in twi, will not be forgotten. Even if it seems now like we threw our time and money down the drain. No. God keeps the score and the game isn't over.
  9. You may believe it is B.S., but you know what, we just don't know yet. Everything hasn't been played out. I think we all may be very surprised what God has in store for all of us.
  10. I didn't say YOU did, I was expressing an opinion about something CW wrote.
  11. You can continue to put blame twi, but consider that you used twi to tranquilize your own personal dissatisfaction with yourself. I did to.
  12. I have to admit, it does sound like I may be whitewashing and dismissing the evil of twi. But honestly I really don't mean to do that. While considering this issue, I can't help but think of the religion of my youth, and so many many folks still adhere to the benefits of it, even though I never appreciated it ... and now I say "to each his own". I can't point fingers and condemn others for wanting to adhere to an imperfect system, like the religion of my youth, or twi. If it ultimately brings them some benefits, I say to each his own.
  13. It may all depend on ones outlook ... for example, there is much benefit and beauty in this world. But if all one does is magnify the illness, murder, rape, death, destruction of the world ... one can't appreciate the beauty. The evil dominates.
  14. This isn't about anyone being bad in some way, but then you go and condemn twi for "capitalizing upon personal dissatisfaction". It was us who were part of the preaching and teaching. "We" did that. Golly, if you call that capitalizing on others' dissatisfaction, it sounds like we were being bad in some way.
  15. Look in the book of Acts ... folks made Christianity an exciting adventure for themselves... folks had goals and dreams and they acted out on them, with urgency. Life like that isn't always safe... but can be more exciting than the day to day mundane events of some. To each his own.
  16. I don't often disagree with Johniam but here I must respectfully do so. :o ;) We had choices in twi, and if one volunteered, it was one's choice. If one freely availed, one freely availed. TWI at one time was very serious about its message and if one agreed with and volunteered to communicate that message, it was that individuals' choice. The way I see it, and I feel strongly about this ... twi didn't own anybody any more than the person allowed them to. If one jumped in head first that was their choice and shouldn't be degraded because that choice was to communicate the things of God to others. But I also received much benefit from sweet fellowship with others.
  17. It is scriptural and godly when one looks at it from the eyes of Jesus, or Paul, or some of the other great men and women of God who envision and hope for the future. Paul even went on to say that the time is short, and they that have wives, go on as though they had none. We used to call it the urgency of the times in twi. I don't see anything wrong with that as one's commitments override some others. It is an individual choice. As far as some feeling they were deceived and manipulated in twi, my response to that would be, if Christianity is a hoax, then we've all been hoodwinked pretty good. If Christianity is not a hoax, then twi helped me to see some present and future events with more urgency than I had seen them before.
  18. Thanks for that information What the Hay. Lots of stuff to consider and process.
