  1. Hi Nothing says Fall like apples--but having made apple pie Sat and Apple Crisp last night--(because the apple pie was GONE). . . . I am sick to bits of apples!! A good one here is Indian Pudding. Seems like a big deal to make, but it is not really too difficult. Served warm with vanilla ice-cream it is so much a Fall favorite. I think it might be a New England thing. . . . Indian Pudding Recipe Ingredients 6 cups of milk 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal 1/4 cup flour 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup molasses 3 eggs, beaten 1/3 cup of granulated sugar 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 teaspoon of nutmeg 1 cup golden raisins (optional) Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream Method 1 Scald the milk and butter in a large double boiler. Or heat the milk and butter for 5 or 6 minutes on high heat in the microwave, until it is boiling, then transfer it to a pot on the stove. Keep hot on medium heat. 2 Preheat oven to 250°F. 3 In a separate bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, and salt; stir in molasses. Thin the mixture with about 1/2 cup of scalded milk, a few tablespoons at a time, then gradually add the mixture back to the large pot of scalded milk. Cook, stirring until thickened. 4 Temper the eggs by slowly adding a half cup of the hot milk cornmeal mixture to the beaten eggs, whisking constantly. Add the egg mixture back in with the hot milk cornmeal mixture, stir to combine. Stir in the sugar and spices, until smooth. At this point, if the mixture is clumpy, you can run it through a blender to smooth it out. Stir in the raisins (optional). Pour into a 2 1/2 quart shallow casserole dish. Bake for 2 hours at 250°F. 5 Allow the pudding to cool about an hour to be at its best. It should be reheated to warm temperature if it has been chilled. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
  2. Well, no snow here Mstar. Not a flake. You are way up in those pretty hills though. Just got the wood stoves cranking this week. Cozy--wish I was more into this series. At least it is baseball--but will be over very soon. Getting that winter blah just hearing about the snow so close by---- :(
  3. Well this way we at least have a little baseball history being made. To be honest, the whole thing was kinda a wash(LOL) up until now. This makes it interesting. Taking it day by day? hmmm. Now I am interested in what will happen. That was a sad picture you posted Mstar--I am already feeling it--I wandered over to the political forum--politics. . . . my fall back adrenaline rush at this time of year. :) With baseball the heart soars--with politics the teeth grind. Is it Feburary yet?
  4. I love this song O Mio Babbino Caro--Puccini
  5. Your experience is how you evaluate and define these groups. That is fine. BUT, to say that not adhering to traditional historic Orthodox theology does not define them as a cult to others is just plain wrong. That IS how a cult is defined in Christian terms. The secular view is different. Walter Martin described a cult like this: "as a group of people gathered about a specific persons interpretation of the bible... from a theological view point, the cults contain not only a few major deviations from historic Christianity. They paradoxically, they continue to insist that they are entitled to be classified as Christians." (Kingdom of the cults p.11) In his book The New Cults, Walter Martin defines a cult as “a group religious in nature which surrounds a leader, or a group which either denies or misinterprets essential biblical doctrines.” "A THEOLOGICAL DEFINITION A THEOLOGICAL DEFINITION OF "CULT" MUST BE BASED ON A STANDARD OF CHRISTIAN ORTHODOXY. USING THE BIBLE'S TEACHING AS A FOCAL POINT. A CULT IS ANY RELIGIOUS GROUP THAT CLAIMS TO BE CHRISTIAN (OR MAY NOT BE) IS DISTINCT AND HAS DOCTRINES AND PRACTICES THAT CONTRADICT THOSE OF THE SCRIPTURES AS INTERPRETED BY ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY. THOSE THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN UPHELD IN HISTORIC CHRISTIANITY . ORTHODOXY IS REPRESENTED FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE CHURCH, AND IS EXPRESSED IN STATEMENTS SUCH AS THE APOSTLES CREED WHICH ARE DENIED . THEY WILL DENY THE BIBLE AS THE COMPLETE BOOK OF REVELATION AND OUR GUIDE TO KNOWING GOD. THEY WILL DISTORT THE CENTRAL MESSAGE OF THE SCRIPTURES AS CHRIST BEING THE SAVIOR ALONE. THEY WILL DENY HIS DEITY AND DISTORT HIS NATURE. THEY FORM THEIR GROUP AROUND A SINGLE PERSONS INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE, OR CHRIST USUALLY BY A NEW REVELATION. THEY REMOVE THEMSELVES FROM THE LARGER BODY AND OPERATE AUTONOMOUSLY. A CULT IS ORGANIZED HERESY. THEY WILL DISTORT ONE OR MORE OF THE FUNDAMENTALS." Excuse the diversion--back to the topic at hand. Tz--do you really know and understand how much TWI had an impact on your life? If you have honestly looked at this and evaluated it with great understanding and still say it didn't effect you. Good for you. I am happy for you. I wish I could say that. I stood up to plenty of Corps and leadership--I was still in a cult.
  6. I agree--just too late for a game to end. Well, a game that doesn't have the Bosox playing anyway. Poor TB. I am all broken up. Not. Mstar, make sure your TV is digital--the big change over don't ya know. I go to alot of Walmart's for my job. Often in the back they have markdowns of floor models or returns that they slowly bring to the floor. I spotted a 36 inch TV for half price. Had it a few years and recently gave it to a family in need of a TV. Too much for us anymore. There are always deals out there if you need to get a new one. In fact, there is some kind of voucher offered. . . . I think. . . . .
  7. If we had been part of the Christian Community at large---maybe when we met people like that we could have reached out with better hands. We isolated ourselves. So arrogant. To think we had such a handle on the "truth" that we kept ourselves from other Christians. Oddly enough, there are Christians out there willing and able to reach out with love and hope to ALL people.Your leadership would not have known this though. . . . too busy leading God's chosen group. We may have been ill equipped to handle something like that, but we were also too busy being "Right" to even notice that there are Christians who can. I shudder to think what would have happened if you did try to get him some help outside the household. My son helps raise money for this group. http://www.twloha.com/
  8. Sunesis, Bride, Dr Juedes and others are having a very interesting well informed conversation--thanks Twinky--I am bumping this up because it is getting lost in the maze of all those other topics dominating the doctrinal forum. Bump-Bump-Bump!!
  9. Can you imagine TWI ecouraging anyone to vote for someone named Barack HUSSEIN Obama?? I don't know the current paranoia within Way Walls, but it is not hard to guess who they would not so subtley endorse. Most evangelicals blindly vote Republican--on one or two issues. Since abortion is one of them, who knows. . . But, TWI has always leaned -- tilted--swayed right--nearly into fascism--IMHO . . . . . . . . . . it is no stretch to figure McCain is probably their guy. Neither candidate can be stupid enough to seek their favor. . . . I hope.
  10. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. LOL You are right. . . I will watch. . . with no horse in the race-it will be good, but just not as good.
  11. Okay, Congrats Tampa Bay! The Bosox gave me my October thrill--made my heart soar and I love em for all the pleasure they give! I really do. I love that team. NOW, this is the part I really do NOT like. This is it. . . . . the waiting. It begins. The kinda slow pokey almost blah time. . . . until Feburary. That is when it comes alive again. You hear the chatter--watch the training. Who is where. . . .it is enough until opening day. . . .when life perks up and baseball is back. I am serious. . . I have done this for years. . . the wait. The time when things seem to come to life. . . it all revolves around baseball!! LOL I should start skiing again. . . at least winter here would have something. But, nothing really can replace that thing. . . BASEBALL!! Chin up Mstar--what do we say here? We'll get em next year. You bet we will!!
  12. Rocky, I gotta tell you, we have years of experience in this area. Not only your everyday garden variety loss, but the "You gotta be kidding" "That did NOT just happen moments" "What the. . . . OMG" losses. In fact, although hope kept us going--many--no no most of us believed in "The curse" and knew a Red Sox loss was not just an outside possibility. That "Moment" always came. Then one year, as if by magic. . . they came back with a vengence. . . and we waited. . . . and waited. . . and the "moment" didn't come. It just didn't come. . . They Won. But, we are the most prepared fans--maybe ever, for the loss. LOL :) Just doggedly hopeful and faithful!! You gotta admit--they take us on a serious rollercoaster ride. . . .I LOVE BASEBALL!!
  13. Yes, much better--HAPPY!! That was a bit tough on the vocal chords though! They were so thrilled--good to see them pumped--gave me back my hope!! LOL I love it Mstar----not much in life is better than a SOX nailbiter!! People say "it's just baseball". . . . yeah right. Take that Aaron Boone! I will be in Framingham tommorow--gotta find a good place to watch. . . . mingle with the crowd. . . should be fun.
  14. YES!!!! I LOVE IT!!! I LOVE IT!!!! Talk about a down to the wire show!! Mstar--"Can you believe it?" LOL I am a happy woman today--Let's keep those toes crossed!!
  15. Oh Mstar, I just know what you are saying. I lived it too. My grandpa--with his hearing aid at the old kitchen table. The Zenith radio cranked up--just listening. The sounds, the feel, the memories. He waited, and would have loved it so too. He died in 1980. I still have the table and the radio--I cherish them! October is good here! The Nation was out in force today--from 20 minutes outside of Boston, to where I ended up in Chicopee--hats --coats--tee shirts. I went into Stop& Shop--all the employees were dressed in Red Sox tee-shirts-a big banner and ballons. Went to dinner and everyone was chatting Red Sox. Men, women, little kids--all out in Red Sox gear showing their support. It was my pleasure to post "Tessie" Loved yours! Sorry guys--I gotta do it--LET'S GO RED SOX!! I have to go watch in the guest room--I tend to yell a bit! Hope we are back again!!
  16. Songs of the moment? I just had to. . . .
  17. Henry always does it for me--how did you know? LOL That was GREAT!! I am ready. I love the big show--I think white knuckle memories--grandpa waiting--and the ever present "we'll get em next year" just came flooding back. But ya know. . . . we never get to it easily. Mstar, it is true drama--is it not? I just get chills. So many men--so much pleasure--more than a girls heart can take!! Are your toes crossed?
  18. AHHHH that worked!! Here we go!! Man, in this life there are few true pleasures--but baseball---it can bring ya joy==break your heart--and take you on a wild ride. My guys seldom let me down. Here's to the Divine Wind-- Odd thing about him--He can load em--but they never bring in the runs! LOL Fingers crossed they don't start now- :) Thanks MStar I am all better!
  19. Cheer me Mstar! Tell me stories of the 2004 Playoffs---let's relive the glory days. . . cause they gotta do it again. My money is still on Boston--if I bet that is. We love a a happy ending here in the Nation. Hope we have one--but then again, no one is better at the sting of disappointment than Boston Fans--except maybe Cubs fans! LOL
  20. Hi doojable, Funny! About a week ago I bought a box lot at an auction. 5$ for all this fun stuff--all new in boxes and there was one of these peelers in it--so I tried it. Other than having trouble stabilizing it--it was so cool to use. I made a pie and it was great! I guess you would buy one in a kitchen shop??--I love to watch the peel come off in that curly Q--I had never seen one like this before-very handy. Thanks. Endless pies are my life--I can't cook---other than spaghetti sauce, but I can bake!!
  21. Happy Birthday! I remember you so often in my prayers. Many many many more wonderful birthdays. Love, Geisha
  22. You could have a point here. If we are the Body, we keep looking at ourselves - not outside ourselves. Not at the LJC but at another member of the "Body". Hi Twinky, If VP was the Bride--He would have submitted. I honestly think it goes even deeper with VP. Just think about it for a sec. VP came out of a church--and seminary! Everything he knew--he rejected. He didn't like the church. . . . think about how often he bad mouthed other ministers. I remember him saying Billy Grahm and the rest knew the truth of what he VP said, but they were sold out to money. He rejected the bride. The body. They were carnal Christians remember? VP was carnal. He didn't want to submit to authority within the church. They held him accountable for his actions. They were faithful to the Lord. Every teaching he sought out separated him from the Lord and His authority over us. Absent Christ--while the cat's away. . . . you get my drift. It was an actual rejection. . . . right down to who Jesus is. That was his crowning rejection. Although denying the Holy Spirit WHO--yes a WHO LOL convicts us of our sins was pretty bad. How do we think he was able to use people so hurtfully--to abuse--to really spiritually maim in the name of God. That takes some serious rejection of Christ's LOVE and authority. VP relegated Him to some bizarre freakish created being. Was the Jesus of TWI to be obeyed? How could He be--HE was absent. Even so, He was just like us, but with an extra dose of little hs. Did we know how much the Lord desired us and was jealous over us? No, we were so frickin afraid of idolatry!! Ingenious really. VP was free from that intimate relationship. Free from being faithful to Him in all things--free from authority. He rejected it--and the Lord does not force Himself on us--we choose. That is how he was able to rape and steal--lie and cheat. VP said NO Thanks. Did the Lord ever correct him? It got worse--VP was the MOGFODT. He became what Jesus should be in a Christians life. The thing that makes it down right evil is that VP knew the truth. He didn't just walk away from the church. . . no. . . He started his own ministry. He sought out things that allowed him to continue on sinning in the name of God. I could get biblical and show you the verses about false teachers. . . what they do. . . . what it means, but you probably know better than I--you are a smart cookie. What really ticks me off--more than anything--is all these lovely people, and there are so many in twi and especially ex-twi, who got tricked. They now struggle so to have a relationship with the Lord--whom they were taught to actually fear. Afraid of idolatry by putting the Lord in the rightful place in their hearts. Afraid of turning to Him instead of the Father or the MOG. Afraid of His NAME!! How we missed that no man comes to the Father except by Him--I still don't get? How we missed that Jesus is God's revelation of Himself to us--beyond me? How we missed that the way we know God is through Jesus Christ? We knew the bible, but see how we missed the most basic and now obvious things? It is because the whole thing is about Christ. God's final and forever revelation of Himself--He walked among us!! We will be with Him always. Gives one chills. We were seriously lied to. The other thing that really gets me very ANGRY is the gospel message. The GREATNESS of what was done for us on the cross. We NEVER heard it in TWI. I didn't hear it until years after I left. My ears were clogged with arrogance and mush from TWI. For me it took YEARS!! I had heard a completely enemic--watered down--carnal story in TWI--didn't save me--it made me self-righteous. But, you could not tell me--I was saved--I SIT. I could go on, but as it is I am treading on thin ice here with some already--LOL But I think you get my point. . . VP was a false teacher who rejected Christ--He found teachings that justified this. . . Body not Bride. . . . .I sometimes think it is best to throw out the baby--the bathwater--the tub--the sink and everything else we collected from our time in TWI--but that is me--everyone is different.
  23. Twinky, What I think we missed with TWI theology is the love relationship we can have with the Lord. All those things found in an ideal husband. . . . they are possible to have with the Lord. . . today. He is all the things that are good. He is faithful, kind, tender, wise and always loves us best. He actually does the very best for us--right now. He is not absent in our hearts. We can commune with Him--look to Him to guide--confide in Him--He never judges us Twinky. Think of someone who is truly a friend. . . they are rare. Someone who only wants the best for you and will provide it. No matter how far we wander, and we do, He gently corrects us and brings us back to that relationship. It is the one thing you can forever count on. He woos us by simply revealing Himself. But, it is not always easy for us because we are flesh, He works in our lives to refine and perfect us. And, we wait and long. . . . because someday we will be with this great love of our lives. . . .our best friend--brother. . .father. . . our everything. . . face to face--we will be wed together forever. That is quite a thrilling thing to look forward to. While we wait--we submit to His authority--because He is right and good--perfect and we know and trust Him. We have that kind of relationship--we have faith in Him--He is worthy of it. We know He will never cause us harm or steer us wrong. . . we trust in Him. Once we know--nothing else works. We are to be faithful too. BY what TWI taught us and our obsession with the written word above all else. . . . many of us missed it. We thought--absent Christ--Body not Bride--JCING--No praying to Him--Big Bro---MOG and on and on. We were cut off from the vine. That is what Christianity is. . . . Christ. He is alive and well and wants that intimate relationship with us. It is how we know God. For all TWI's talk about grace--we didn't have clue one about what that meant. I think all those teachings and hodge podge theology in TWI--were actually really about one man VP's rejection of Christ.
  24. He gave me away at our wedding. Oh I am so very sad if this is true. Where is Joanne? The last I knew they were in Charlotte, but that was years ago. They had a daughter Amber Rose, born a year before my daughter. I always had a soft spot for Kenneth. What a good old southern gentleman. I hope they are both alive and happy and living a good life somewhere. I truly do.
  25. Hi BowTwi. I am so happy you liked it--fun to share recipes. I made THREE banana breads this morning. There is half of one left. I can't keep up! My son and a few friends--hubby milling around and boom it was gone! LOL Apple pie and brownies tommorow. . . sigh. . . back to peeling apples. Geisha
