Hebrews 4:12 .. . . to whom is it written? It was written to the Jews who had intellectually agreed to the gospel, the facts about Jesus, the authority and power of the 1st century church, but were not converted. They had not come to the faith. It is written or built around a set of warnings, hence, the multiple use of the word "Beware". It also shows a new and better way, a complete way. Chapter 1 . . . . 1In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. With just a quick glance of verse 12 the one thing that jumps out is the severity of it. . . . hence the words sharp, powerful, dividing, critic, piercing, and sword. Not a cuddly "love ya, how to" verse. It is a warning to the hearers that their emphasis was distorted. Look at the next verse. . . . . it ends with to whom we must give account. It is speaking about Jesus. Who does scripture tell us is the living word? That is the question you can't guess on, hint, it wasn't Guttenberg. Remember, the whole context of Hebrews is Christ. These are the people who were following the path of their forefathers . . . . when it refers to the children of Israel . . . those from the exodus . . . it referring to those who never entered the promise land. In Hebrews it is called entering into God's rest. They were never going to enter or be saved unless they started looking to Christ. He is the fulfillment of all God was trying to show them. He is the High Priest. By trusting in their lineage, and their ceremonies and their ability. . their work's based sacrifice. . . .and themselves they were DENYING God's complete sacrifice and the only one He will accept. The rest of Hebrews goes on to contrast the better way of Jesus vs their insistence on keeping their own rules. 1. Jesus is the living word 2. Jesus is the primary way God communicated to us. John 14:6 Hebrews is about missing salvation and it keeps pointing people back to the same thing every chapter. . . . Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today, and forever. It is telling us NOT to rely on our own ability to direct, discern, and critique our own hearts. . . . it is saying put your faith in Jesus. 13 chapters of Jesus being the ONLY way . . . . and we still think we can train our hearts and exercise such great discernment? The only thing our attention is directed to in Hebrews is Jesus Christ. Yes, a person, but it is not ourselves.

Soul Searcher, Nope, that curse is broken baby, and there ain't noooo going back. . . . and gee, I only said the "Yankees suck" because . . . well . . . because .. . . um . . . . hiway29 asked me to. Yeah, that's it.. ...it made him feel better. . . . I was being nice. . . . "Yankees suck" is a term of endearment. When I wear my "Yankees Suck" baseball cap. . . . it is really to lift the spirits of all Yankee fans. (Seriously, I only wear it to cut the grass.) Why, we hear it around these parts all the time. Yankees suck. . . . sounds a little like, Have a Nice Day. . . . BTW PLEASE learn the correct way to say Bucky Dent's name. . .. it is not Bucky Dent, it is Bucky F%&*#$@ Dent. At least the way I have always heard it. Is that not the correct pronunciation? Okay, I too am done for the season. . . . glad you have company hiway. . . .dang, I knew SS was a Yankee fan! Twin vs Angels tonight. Go Twinkies.. . . I have to say that . . .married to a Twins fan.

I was looking in . . . . I just didn't have anything to add. . . .I know the Red Sox, a little about the Twins, and some baseball . . . but, if it makes you feel better. . . . . Yankees do suck! JUST PLAYING!! :) And I am trying to be sensitive to it being heavily Red Sox here. . it is just, they make me really happy. . . .

I didn't say depraved. . . . I said deceitful. . . . and not really I, but the scriptures. . . . so, believe whatever you like. . .. there certainly is no end of options. Off to church! :)

:) History also bears this out. . . . that we are capable of extraordinary acts of goodness and great self-sacrifice. I give a big Amen to that.
-
Not to put too fine a point on it. . . .but, as former fanatical Wierwilian cult members. . . . we got tricked. . . our hearts lead us down the ugly path. Hey, some people won't even admit to that. It isn't about degrees of deceitfulness. . . .VP vs Hitler . . . the human heart is deceitful. Easily caught up in lies. . . my opinion anyway. It doesn't mean we are not capable of great good though. . ..
-
Is it? If we take the human heart to mean the seat of human intent, thought and interaction. . . . what is comparable? Nothing. . . . not a thing except God. Above all else. . . .what else is there? Pretty limited IMO. I think that means it is so bad. . . . it is unexplainable. :) Just think of what we are capable of in terms of deceit. . . .
-
Roy, Why do you say this? Especially if "All books are wrote by man and they man's were picture of how man see's God God is said to be a good being who created man and all things but God did not write the many books but people did to imagine how God is like" Hey, if it is all so vague, let's party and say what we want.. ... to whomever. Kind of like GSC :) I judge people all the time. I never let Hannibal Lecter babysit, I taught my kids to be wary of strangers, and I am particular about who I buy a car from . . . . if I had used some sound judgment of people. . . . I never would have ended up in TWI. By telling Sunesis she had no right to judge. . . . you kind of judged her. IMO, some people just beg for a little judgment. There is no getting away from it.

I do live in this area and this has been a huge story here since it happened. This area is a bit of an anomaly. For the most part these are old farming communities. . . . with 5 fairly prestigious colleges sprinkled about. . . . Hampshire, Amherst, Smith, Mt Holyoke, and U-Mass. One would think that would promote some acceptance of diversity. .. . and on many levels it does, but slowly, and reluctantly. It can take years beyond a normal adjustment period to be accepted here as part of a community. . . . at least that has been my observation. I am sure this won't be a popular point, but my pity does extend to the girls who were so cruel and heartless, all while being sheltered in the confines of high school and cultural comfort. What a cheap waste of life. One day, they may grow up and grow a conscience, but even if they never understand and continue to hide from responsibility. . . . how is that any way to exist? It all means that not just one life was so tragically lost. People don't usually rise above something like this to turn and do good from it. . . . at least not very often. They usually end up substance abusers trying to hide from it. It is just so sad. The DA, who I normally don't care for, is doing a good job. She is taking it very seriously and making it clear such things are not tolerated. Bullying is being addressed here and although some reform and change may come from the tragedy . . . . it is still just a terrible and cheap waste of human potential and decency. Something has seriously eroded in our society. And. . . sometimes. . . . life really stinks.

Happy Easter - unsure where to post this

Rottie Grrrl. The story is in People Magazine this week if you are interested. I was in South Hadley today. It is a really beautiful town, picture perfect, with really lovely residents. It is where Mt. Holyoke College is located. . . . . a fairly quiet place. Such a heartbreaking tragedy. People here are still reeling. The parents called for no vigilantism,(there is fear of reprisal) and for the justice system to be allowed to work. . . . it has been a tense time for this area.

Hey Sunesis, :) I once heard it said that . . . . . the triune nature of God is an affront to human pride. That always stuck with me, and coming from TWI it really resonated. God is pretty amazing. I read this today and was really moved. For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, and whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and with him that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15

Spectator Christianity
geisha779 replied to Tzaia's topic in Spirit and Truth Fellowship International
Nicely put. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As far as the church bashing goes. . . . please. . .. get some new material. . . . be innovative . . . .there are plenty of different ways to stand opposed to Jesus Christ and His church. . . . start thinking outside the box!!! This blah, blah, blah. . . . the horror of church and the evils of Nicea, . . . .really stale. If you want to go at God. . . . man-up. . . .quit going through His people. . . go at Him directly.. . . you could even adopt some freaky doctrine. -
I know Thomas, I am sorry. But, it was the one where they were just hanging out playing music.. ...and Paul just looked so darn good. I had to.
-
And we can't forget all our new instant best friends. . . . those who love bombed us and stalked us I mean under-shepherded us.. . .our true family. The one true "household". Or how our support systems outside TWI eroded once we took a "stand" on the word, . . . . unless of course we got them "Into the word" . . ..whatever that means. Sheesh. . . I really was in a cult.. . . and I still know the lingo.

Mstar, Christopher Guest is my ALL time favorite . . . . so, while YES is playing hubby turned to me and said "This is why God invented headphones" I agree . . . .can't hear that stuff loud enough. After YES. . . . Not sure what you mean? If you have a moment, could you explain? If not. . . no worries. It is funny you mention Momentus, I saw it mentioned on another thread. . . . I think by you. Being somewhat unfamiliar, but often hearing it mentioned, I Googled it. It took me to Factnet. I started reading this really great article, I was really moved. So, I was curious, and when I looked to see who wrote it. It was YOU! I cannot applaud you enough for your courage in coming forth and sharing in such an intimate and important manner. I was so touched and filled with respect. Momentus sounds like hell. . . . . the absence of God. Why would anyone promote it? There is a question.
