Really good to hear that, Johniam. Is St. Louis Bible Fellowship an offshoot of TWI? Or some completely independent organization with never any link with TWI? A quick look at its website suggests not.

Most churches have at least two people counting the collection and opening the donation envelopes. To double check the money - and to double-check each other. In larger churches more people would be required. Of course, all TWI needed was a shovel to park it straight into the coffers. Can't speak for offshoots. Hopefully they are on a better footing... CFFM probably is, can't speak for any others.

We've done VPW, thankfully to death. I don't know how much contact VPW himself would actually have had with someone like JYdL, very minimal - the other trustees and the dancing Prez would have done much more to "develop" JYdL and his wife. So, to bring this thread back to the topic - anybody know anything much about JYdL? You newer escapees, what do you know of him, if anything? I quite liked the man I last saw - gosh, would be over 20 years ago now. He didn't strike me as future Prez material (but then, why should he have done?) but as quiet, obedient and committed. He was very busy, in International Outreach, translated the PFAL books into French and recorded the French version of PFAL. And that must have been 30 years ago. It may be that being "quiet, obedient and committed" is precisely what's got him appointed as Prez.

Control, control, control. A Corps woman I knew wrote a song which she used to sing at our twig. It was a nice song, good, and we all liked it. Maybe she sent it in to HQ, maybe she sang it there, I don't know. Next thing I knew, M1ke Mart!n was singing this song from the stage at RoA, but the words had been changed slightly and a verse added. It became "his" song and I don't know if the Corps woman got any credit; I think she might have said it was part of Way Prods. She bravely said that the alterations had made it a better song, but even then I got the impression that she was being gracious about the hijacking of her song, and wasn't wholly happy about it.

Wasn't Pressed Down considered "pozzest" and their music banned? It was great music too. I recall we didn't understand what had happened and few destroyed (as instructed) their copies of cassettes. In fact, bootleg copies were made, of which I have or had one .

I hear ya, Potato. Regrettably your story is faaaarrrrr to common to many of us here. So glad you are recovering your mind and ability to make decisions. Takes years to get beyond the abuse inflicted on submitted minds.

Interesting, really, how secretive TWI is when one understands the openness that is to be found in many churches. Some churches have several services in different styles on Sundays. And the sermon (at least) of at least one of those services is frequently put up online the next day. This enables regular attenders to listen again, or to catch a sermon for the first time if they couldn't attend the service. It also enables total strangers to "listen in" to what that church sermonizes about. Compare and contrast with TWI. TWI requires folk to sign up for a subscription (to be paid for) to receive a recording of the SNS sermon (sorry, teaching). Nothing current is available online. As far as I can tell, it's not even possible to "log in" to the TWI site (supposing you a Wayfer), to catch up on a missed sermon/teaching. Compare and contrast, too, with TWI's biggest splinter group, CFFM. They put their whole service up online together with other teaching series. Love 'em or hate 'em, you know what you're getting and they are trying to be open about what they're doing. No prizes for working out which arrangement is more likely to move the Word over the world, to spread the gospel, or even just to instill confidence that the teachings/sermon are legitimate and not some crank's ideas about ... who knows what. (In fact, even cranks post their musings online for all to see and hear.) I haven't heard RFR or JYdL teach that I can recall, it's far too long ago: but I suffered enough under LCM. That man couldn't keep a clean mouth. I learned more foul words and expressions during SNS and especially Corps Night teachings than I ever heard anywhere before. Nah, you wouldn't want those "sermons" available for all to listen in to. Maybe an early thing for Jean-Yves to do would be to arrange for a more interactive website with publicly-available teachings. Yah, that's really gonna happen.

It was some WoWs that witnessed to me in 1985 or 1986. One was an American girl; Howard Allen wrote to her every month. She was very impressed at that (who wouldn't be, if they didn't know better). As it turned out, some years later she was in my elder Corps. She was fun to be around at the time; hope she still is. As for WoW training in Europe, well, in Britain, the year ran from Jan to Dec. CG just had to do things differently.

We think it's inappropriate for one - or sometimes two - people to make the decision to drop someone from the Corps. Seriously? How many people have been kicked out over the many years these people say they've been part of TWI? And they only just noticed?? Some of those M&A'd have been dumped by members of this very group of "reformers." Next, it's Biblical to confront, and then if "there's no appropriate response to this inquiry, the next step we'll need to take it is to bring to the Way Corps household"? (12m18s) - and quotes scripture (1 Tim 1:19-21) to support this?? Yes, the man said this! Way Corps calling is one of the gifts and callings of God and is without repentence (Eeeekkk!) (about 16m) We would publish our letter [to the BoD] for all the believers to see if God told us to and if there was no response (so far the response is non-repentance) (23m) Acts 15 is a good precedent for a meeting to discuss things (26m) - well, not quite, that was a discussion about doctrine; these people's dispute is about leadership, Rosalie's in particular. Why should we have to monitor our actions because our Biblical ministers (!) might get mad at us? (32m) - good question! Especially from someone who did just that and monitored (spied on) the in-rez Corps relentlessly! Can't speak for later years - the spying got significantly worse (after I got M&A'd) with the mandated time plans everyone had to submit. The word will always need to be researched to make sure we get to the integrity and accuracy of God's word. To think we've arrived at the final answer on every topic in the word of God is erroneous. There will always need to be filters to make sure there's no PI. (36m) ... well now... hmm... how about researching by doing and - you know what? God invites us to test him out. We're not going to do that by sticking our heads in concordances or whatever. We get out there and serve people. Did Jesus "research" to find out whether he could feed huge crowds? Is "research" how he walked on water? (I can't recall any kind of precedent for that.) Or did he just do by committing his action in prayer to his Father? "It's about the body of Christ working together" - ie, working from within to change TWI and not joining a splinter group. mmm. how about finding out about the body of Christ? It's more than just TWI (is it even TWI??) - there are some awesome and doing Christians out and about who most certainly are part of the body of Christ. Some of these humble individuals, just ordinary folks, no degrees or fancy titles, no great research skills, have achieved more than all the "leaders" in TWI put together. Eye witness accounts are valuable (48m) - so please listen to what people have been saying for years. Try this forum!! The joy of being a fellowship coordinator is that you get to work with God! God works in the fellowship coord'r (49m) - wow! explosive stuff. God in Christ in the fellowship coordinator! Note: not in the individual believers. Sad. And they seem to have difficulty dealing with having been M&A'd (51m). Doncha feel sorry for them? We're part of the new, dynamic church (52m) and it's okay to disagree (54m) - yeah yeah yeah. Does that include other Christians, and other understandings of the Bible? I am not impressed, nor lured into thinking I want to go back, be a part of this, be a chosen one. I don't doubt for a moment that these folks are sincere, but as we all have been told, that's no guarantee for truth.
