The Old North State Carolina, Carolina Heav'ns blessings attend thee, though scorners may sneer at and witlings defame her. Hoorah, Hoorah! The Old North State Forever. Hoorah, Hoorah! The Good Old North State. -

What did I like least about the ROA? It was the same things that nauseated me at any other TWI meet up, namely, group think and pie eyed zombie-like creatures walking around muttering tired a$$ TWI slogans and thinking to myself...do I really want to go to heaven and spend eternity putting up with this sh.it? Hey Dante! Ask Virgil to keep me a seat warm and invite Ovid, Livy and the guys over. I'll bring the wine. -
Perhaps by dropping the "com" the term would more accurately describe it as the Orwellian place that it is. It is afterall a place where everyone is equal but some are more equal than others.

My TWI room mates from 73-75 smoked pot unbeknownedst to me. After I moved out they finally invited me to share in the experience. Good stuff! Cannibis laced with hash. So my first high was with post PFAL.

Rocky and Rhino, Let's take the Reaganomics / deregulation debate to "Politics and 'tacks" rather than derail this thread about welfare. I think it would spark a lively debate there.

Happy birthday CC. I miss your witty posts and picture.

:( I'm so sorry Lisa. Your father had many friends and admirers here. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

This is an interesting thread...imagine being a white guy in Africa surrounded by "Africans" in South Africa, the crime capitol of the world and you want to raise a subject like this!, just before they are about to cut your balls off? Bumpy, Without excusing the imagined behavior of the scenario that you present, it does beg a question. How did such ill will come to be? I am sure you have your thoughts on the matter which most likely differ from someone who has emerged from under the boot of Apartheid a mere decade ago.

Sudo, Naw, I didn't have any of 'dem boys in mind, Hoss. There is enough inspiration here on the shore of Lake Michigan actually. From one good ol' boy to another I never liked the Dukes because of its portrayal of our kind as knuckle dragging, cigar chomping evolutionary laggards. Now about Beverly Hillbillies. Didn't you catch how the homespun smarts of Jed was always a few steps ahead of his urbane counterparts and reels in his nephew during his errant forays into sophistication.

I thought F1 meant Formula 1 auto racing and was expecting crumpled metal, blood and guts.

Would it be a correct assumption to say that all the students involved in the mlk spoof were white? How would a play written, produced and performed by the college's international students go over if it stereotypically portrays Americans as unilingual and ignorant of other cultures while arrogantly assuming what is best for them, greedy, drowning in debt, blindly paying allegiance to their nations symbols while eschewing the founding principles that give them meaning, and holding life sacred as long as it is in the womb but declaring open season on it once born.

Cman, I am not a shining example of godliness by any stretch of the imagination but remembering that God is love and He has called to live in grace tells me it aint about me for good or ill...its all about allowing His love live in me. Otherwise, I strain at gnats (not to mention straining and stressing about my own life) and swallow camels. Love keeps all things in proper perspective and keeping love in proper perspective in my life is enough of a challenge to me. I need grace piled high upon grace in order to do that and still I miss it most of the time. Then out of the blue God somehow gets the message to me you need My grace and just allow Me to love you. Peace, Robin P.S. Love Wins.

Happy Anniversary to my neighbors down the road!!!

WB, You know that you and I have had our "Oh really? That's funny. Me too!" moments. It seems we have yet another one. I was "witnessed" to by a innie at a Barnes & Noble in Raleigh about six years ago. I was wearing my ECU t shirt and this girl approaches me and starts asking me about ECU and do I know certain people who went there (all TWIts). I answered that I did know those and that I know that they were all TWI people. "Oh, what do you know about TWI?", she asked. I said something like "too much." She asked if I were fellowshipping in the area or would be interested in fellowshipping. "Absolutely NOT!", I replied. Then this goon comes around the corner and sweeps her away.

Still sucks though, doesn't it? <_<
