  1. It depended on which side of the bed VPW got out of bed that day that determined if he was the going to be soft, cuddly figure that you fondly recall or the foaming one who lambasted any perceived weakness in people as having demonic origins. How come you don't remember that?
  2. Ductape, Your quibbling is noted. Paw, Would you be kind enough to change Mrs. to Ms.
  3. A friend of mine who recently returned from a CFF women's advance in N.C. heard Tonya Shroyer remark in a teaching that people who are depressed may be possessed. As someone who has struggled with depression, I am aghast at the dark stigma that Ms. Shroyer seems to want to perpetuate at those of us who get up every day, take our meds, function at our jobs and contribute to the well being of our communities. Just when the public attitude toward mental illness seems to be changing by degrees, even if ever so slightly, because of recent observable scientific evidence of physical causes of mental illness, such a priori statements as Tonya Shroyer's cast a pall over the progress that has been made and seems to look fondly back upon the Dark Ages.
  4. Great topic! I think women make great leaders. It has been observed that with men there is a tendancy to think in linear / spatial dimensions. Linear / Spatial thinking is particularly useful in accomplishing objectives where success is based on a set of objectives that is clearly quantifiable and especially so if the context of the undertaking is rigidly time bound, i.e. meeting Wall Street's expectation for the next quarter, making the playoffs, bringing a major construction project in on time and under budget and military success. On the other hand, it has been observed that women have a tendency to be adept at thinking in global / relational dimensions. The ability to think globally with a view how different entities relate to each other is particularly useful in determining what course of action best serves the accomplishment of vital interests of the group as a whole especially when one is faced with a lot of unknown variables , i.e. managing a family budget that takes into account future as well as immediate needs, long term strategic business planning and shaping a forward looking foreign policy.
  5. Regardless of what you have been told, forty isn't fatal for a femme fatale like you. RJ
  6. Did Jesus "lay low" or did he get in the face of the religious hypocrites of his day? Did he not teach his followers to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees? I fear that the "good" they are seeking to learn will be tainted with insidious evil until they become what they now see is wrong. This is probably the biggest lie that was ever promulgated by TWI.
  7. I apologize also. I am sorry for my all to quick knee jerk reaction to jump on the soapbox and launch into a tiride that skewers decent and well intentioned folks here. My views are what they are regarding how Americans generally view the rest of the world. Yet I should have taken a more harmless and sensitive approach by just allowing Thomas post to clarify the situation with Laura's mastery of English. Robin
  8. MiniRecruit, I think Reefer Madness and AOS would make an awesome double feature. RJ
  9. Laura, Permit me to attempt to explain the attitudes of of some of my countrymen. Since we Americans (we claim that that title exclusively for ourselves, notwithstanding the fact that Argentina and the rest of of the people living in Western Hemisphere are in the Americas)are the richest nation on earth and the world's only remaining superpower, we expect that the rest of the world to speak English. We can appreciate other cultures in small doses and we do this usually to make ourselves feel more cosmopolitan. When we do travel to other countries, we usually stay in colonial like resorts where there are well groomed, uniformed natives who absolutely must speak English to cater to our every whim. Such is our collective worldview. That is why we have our corporations and military bases strewn throught the world -to keep the world's wealth flowing in our direction and that everyone speak English. Robin
  10. dmiller, You can blame me for the El Camino confusion because I used it in an earlier post on this thread. Actually, El Camino means "The Way" in espanol. Robino Hijo de Jaco
  11. Laura, Yo creo The Way esta muy proximo a el fin. Salud, Robin
  12. "Do you understand what it is that YOU DID that caused this to happen to you?" Sounds like a miserable comforter.
  13. Laura, El Illuminati es una teoría de la conspiración y es apenas uno de muchos medios que el EL Camino emplee para manipular sus seguidores y para mantenerlos la sumisión psicologica. Bienvenidos a Greasepost Cafe. Me gusta los vinos de Argentina y el Tango. Robin Translation: The Illuminati is a conspiracy theory and is only one of many methods that The Way employs to manipulate its followers and keep them in psychological submission. Welcome to the Greasespot Cafe. I like the wines of Argentina and the tango. Robin
  14. I was driving to the bank when suddenly I swerved to miss a thirsty deer as it crossed the road to get to the bank of the stream which caused me bank off the guardrail.
  15. Be well and happy, Robin
  16. Hi Pam, Good to see you again. I plan to spend some time driving around California in general and PCH in particular this summer. It will be my first visit to the Golden State and I am very much looking forward to it. Robin
  17. Did anyone besides me have the thought, "Here. Take all my money just give me back my mind and life."?
  18. Happy Birthday Dot. You are a treasure here.
  19. Happy Birthday and congratulations, Sami.
  20. If you can't make the connection between tailgating and rear end accidents, you are probably a Michigander.
