  1. Happy Birthday...so much better than in TWI when we called them Dirthdays...
  2. Just can't help myself today Brainfixed... When I think of Muddy Waters I think of one of the best blues/jazz harmonica players ever - and had the pleasure of watching him perform. When I think of TWI I think of pretty much every word that I can't post here.
  3. Can't help it WW - gotta ask. First - I rarely "watch" any news whether it be CNN, MSNBC or Fox. I found out long ago that if you don't watch the news you don't often miss much. If it is really important then a colleague or two will tell me and I can catch up. So...I confess I know little about Fox except that it is generally labeled as very right-wing and biased. However I notice that a lot of people seem to think that CNN is very left-wing and biased. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder perhaps?!?!?! Since I have equal disgust for the repetitive, putrid, hate-filled, limp-genitaled arguments of both the right and left it makes little difference to me. I have also noticed that both CNN and Fox carry identical stories when issued by AP, Reuters or other international news sources that claim independence. That confession being made about ignorance of the news business - one should also ask the opposing question... Why is it that the other big news sources do NOT mention them? Both questions have equal merit from an objective perspective. I don't care about either company - let them all rot along side of all politicians regardless of political ideology...But ya know the old saying one good question deserves another. Edited for the following: Right wingers please do not answer the question with some grand left wing conspiracy bias theory on the part of the news. Left wingers please do not answer the question with some grand right wing conspiracy bias theory on the part of the news. Of course since every left winger I know claims not to be left but moderate and every right winger I know claims not to be right but moderate - no doubt some of you will post those tired old theories...Please...Please do not. You are not moderate when you post that junk...you're still in cult thinking be it left wing, right wing, or jesus wing. Not that either or both of the above is/are not true - however I've heard both of those arguments too many times for too many years...I don't need, or want, another tired old fixated closed minded, IQ of 63, politically and religiously driven rerun of political theory and journalism. If you're going to post those kinds of responses please start another thread called something typically inane like None Dare Call it Conspiracy...well unless it's either from George Aar or GrouchoMarxJr in which case I will get some good belly laughs at their most cynically sick sense of humor HEY!! How come NONE of those news agencies does good reporting on over three decades of efforts by NORML that have spanned both left and right tendency administrations?
  4. Heh heh heh - Ham - one of my kids has a shot at studying math under Roger Penrose - I figured you'd get a kick out of that.
  5. LOL - OK had a stupid moment but I get a quota of those with age. Brisket now...hmmm...I always use a flat cut - blade cut is too fatty. Season and put in covered roaster at 200F - No typo there - 200...leave in until mostly cooked...a couple of hours minimum...use a marinade to add seasoning to the meat - Stubb's is the best you can buy commercially - finish off in oven for 30 more mins Take out to grill - use low heat - at this point you're just trying to set the flavor and render the fat. Grill on low for 15 mins per side - cover in Stubb's BBQ sauce - 15 more minutes per side on indirect heat. Soft, falling apart, works for me

    Viral email

If anyone on this list receives an email purportedly from a reliable source saying there are pictures to share, delete it immediately, DO NOT OPEN. I opened because it came from a "known source" but deleted it out of suspicion because that person had no reason to send me that topic. However upon review of the HTML source there is a javascript program which, when you open the email even to view, reads your entire contact list and adds it to their list of "credible sources" to continue the viral expansion. I do not know if opening it returns your contact list to the originator or not. Do NOT OPEN IT even to view. If you open it DO NOT CLICK ON EITHER "YES" OR "NO." The company who sent this is www.tagged.com - apparently another sleazy dating service billing itself as a social networking site. They have an unmanned voice mail at 415-946-1953. I reported them for phishing to my email provider. I run an active viral scanner however since this is embedded javascript it sneaked right on in. The authors are "good." The javascript is tight and efficient.
  7. I've noticed that about you socks in other threads as well. If you don't believe it, if it disagrees with you, if it rubs you wrong then the person who posted has some deficiency - not just a different opinion than you - true to historical form. If you think I don't write coherently I suggest it indicates that A) your delusions are pretty serious or B) you enjoy twisting other people's words - of course you always did. Now since you have escalated from disagreement and simple twisting to outright insults - I'll drop this thread. People with your ego and falsetto voiced thoughts just aren't worth it. You do an injustice to your early history in twi. You have early knowledge and it may, just may, even without insulting vic or twi, prove helpful at times to some people.
  8. I think that is well stated waysider
  9. Now with regard to trashing vic and twi - that is, IMO, fair game. Doesn't always make it a correct memory or recounting of what happened but the evidence as well as testimony about vic and cronies causing enormous personal damage is pretty overwhelming. Doesn't mean everything that was said in twi was wrong nor everything that happened was wrong. But if the net balances come out weighing in on more hurt than help then there is a serious set of flaws either in a large number of people, the organization, or both. Further; since the stated mission of GSC is, in part, to tell the other side of the story - well bring it on posters - "the other side" seems to be more common than the "still in favor of" at GSC - and in some cases, albeit not many, posters who personally know each other have publicly supported the "facts" presented from a poster. The only thing I'll give you about trashing vic is that the same old story gets a tad old to read and reread. [Poster 1] Vic did A. [Poster 2] Yeah and vic did B too. [Poster 3] Yeah vic sure did A [Poster 4] Not only did he do A but he did C too...Six months later...[Poster 73] I just found this old thread <insert name> and yeah vic sure did A Eh...Kinda like reading the news...
  10. I never said or implied it was on this thread socks - I made it quite clear that I was referring to segments of GSC's population not the people posting on here - so don't try to jerk my chain on that issue. BTW while you may not see anyone at GSC like that - funny that in private conversations with many people here one of the things that is almost always brought up by others is that very issue - how many people still have pulpits here - and I am not referring to christianity solely. So....seems like I am not the only one with the viewpoint... Maybe we're all messed up though and this is just a lovely little corner of christendom with no problems - oops - wait - seems like there WAS a problem twixt cynic and WG which resulted in some strong words from Pawtucket... Next, of course, you will point out the difference between having a pulpit and simply not getting along with someone(s). However I am quite through on the topic. Geisha I await your final exam!!!
  11. Perhaps I was unclear then...although not veiled which implies some intentional camouflage. I was not suggesting that everyone was trying to exhort Brainfixed - although as you also noted there are plenty of pulpits here - so I can see how if BF has been poking around I can see how he/she might be a little antsy about the number of people who try to help (which BF noted). That was a good old recruiting tactic in der vey. Anyway I never give out an A+. I'll give you an A. If you were a guy I would give you extra credit for remembering the wedding and birthdays but chicks always seem to have dates like that down pat. Don't forget to turn in your final in the cynics class. Indeed grammer duz kount az duz spelling. Your final essay topic is "Does cynics imply a lack of civics?" Extra credit if you come up with a sound solution to the question and still remain cynical.
  12. Isn't any need to guess Linda - I think I stated it clearly - but for the record - no you aren't one of the posters I was thinking of - but thanks for your permission if had I thought so.
  13. Linda you need to re-read my post and untwist the knot in those panty hose. I gave examples without giving names - per your post-suggestion however - face it - if I gave examples of posts then the names (S/Ns at least) are revealed. I'm a little beyond that thank you. Brainfixed can see it on his/her own, not see it, or ignore me. Either way my evening marguerita tastes fine thanks. I accused no one. I implied no one. I pointedly stated that some people still have their pulpits. Brainfixed made it clear he/she was not interested in what sounded like "way exhortation." That is not veiled and neither was my response. It was about as plain as Dick, Jane and Sally - oh don't forget Spot.
  14. If I couldn't think of anyone specific I would not have posted that. Actually I can think of several but I am certainly not going to post names because A) it is poor manners at best to do so and B) naming names would only be foisting my viewpoint of certain people by name onto Brainfixed who has made it clear that he/she is not interested in all manner of advice. Brainfixed will see them on his/her own, or not, or ignore me. Either way it is no big deal to me.
  15. There are plenty of people who still have their pulpits - just moved them from TWI or some other group to here. Even those who adamantly are against TWI (etc) often still sound and say things like they are still in the belief system just not the organization. You'll begin to recognize certain posters who have the pat (and usually same) "answer" for everything. They are still preaching; in text is all. On the one hand it is rather boorish of them - on the other hand there are no restrictions for their posts on this site. Kind of like watching TV with the remote...ya gotta switch channels when you get a commercial. Yes I am certain that most, even the most annoyingly repetitive and robotic "sounding" posters probably mean well - but your point is well taken - you live your life - no doubt you've had quite enough pseudo-christian advice floated your way. Else...you'll end up like me...and complete cynic...of course I happen to think that has its entertainment value for me.
  16. Sounds good - why don't you cross post that on the "In the Ktichen" forum?
  17. I don't know if that was meant to be sarcastic or not - but the HOAs out here in San Diego definitely act like little nazis. Those people have way to much time on their hands. I got written up twice - my garage door was seen open without me in the garage and one of my bushes extended more than 2 inches past the patio fence. Oh - I got fined too. Had a neighbor get a write up for not getting pre-approval for plants he put in without a written approval - no fine for him - just had to go to an HOA board meeting to explain himself...and the list could go on and on...
  18. Good point. I was interested in that the local station (10News) is not a slog news site but is mainstream and considered pretty representative of any typical large city news station.
  19. Heh - the story just made the local news. Indeed looks like the county overstepped its authority and even its own fee schedule.
  20. Tilt is good - keep posting
  21. Be nice to me Kimberly. If I wasn't a crusty - very old - curmudgeon you wouldn't have anything to worry about any more. Bride - Go teach'em Greek. Make some money - nothing wrong with that. Buy yourself a good ale to drink and hoist one for the kids.
  22. Enter the cynic - but this time I am not going to be cynical. I joined the site and left shortly thereafter - didn't like the old time greetings ("in the name of our living...") However I had a nice phone conversation with John Richeson and it is not his intention to promote Waydom nor Way corps...In fact he is as out of it as most of the rest of us. Much like Paw - he lets people say their gig - if it is still Waydom - well he isn't going to censor it. If it is anti-waydom he won't censor that either. Nothing wrong with that site - just not my pint of ale (or cup of tea if you prefer). As Paw said - if ya don't like it ya don't need to go there. Unless the site is promoting how to build low yield nukes then I don't see the need to bash it.
