  1. i like the new tag line! that's tellin' 'em!
  2. well, the beave was always gettin' hollered at.
  3. maybe i've missed it here buried in some thread, but what's going on with them (aside from graeser getting canned and schoenheit taking over)? any of you guys close to the situation know what's been said, what their plans are, etc? or all they playing it all close to the vest, circling the wagons?
  4. advanced class '79 was torture. i was gung-ho about learning everything i could, but all i remember is being completely exhausted the entire time. (good practice for the corps, i guess!) i did have a nice 7-Up float in town one afternoon. that was the best part!

    quirks

hey, dot--nice behind! i have to keep the water running when i brush my teeth. sometimes, because i hate to waste water, i very purposefully shut the water off. but it always ends up back on before i'm done. it's just one of the little OCD things i do--but the only one i can think of now. (of course, now i won't be able to stop thinking about it until i can remember others! thanks alot, ex!)
  6. your experience may be different, belle, but i've looked up a few old twi friends over the years--and not ONE of them was still in. hopefully you'll be that lucky.
  7. deeeeeeeeeerail: i've had a problem with this premise for a long time. isn't christianity designed for people? (who else?) why is it that our flesh--the stuff all people are made of--is precisely the thing that make practicing christianity so difficult? isn't that the Catch-22 of all Catch-22s? it's like saying "I've designed the perfect automobile fuel. any car that runs on it will get unheard-of mileage and performance. only trouble is, it really doesn't work that well in internal combustion engines." is God an idiot? would he really design the ultimate system for optimal human functioning so that it would work perfectly if we weren't human? personally, i think it's just part of the con to keep you coming back: "this is real hard to do, so you'd better stick close to us. otherwise, you've got no hope at all." by the way, that's an interesting choice of names, prophet: My time coming, any day, dont worry about me, no Its gonna be just like they say, them voices tell me so Seems so long I felt this way and time sure passin slow Still I know I lead the way, they tell me where I go. Estimated Prophet (The Grateful Dead)
  8. don't hold your breath, gracie. the unpleasant truth is, these guys think they're "right." they always have. it's absolutely fundamental to their thing. they talk a good game about learning and whatnot, but they've built this whole operation on the very way-brained elitist mindset the made twi the twisted cult it was. it's a mindset that doesn't lend itself to "waking up."

    Guitar Talk

i remember reading an article somewhere not long ago (of course, it could've been 5 years ago, but it just seems like last month) that joni was using the Roland VG8 guitar modeler so she could jump from one tuning to another without messing with tunings or switching guitars. i've never done much with alternate tunings, but this seemed like the way to go!
  10. newcomer--i've tried formulating a response this way and that way, and finally realized i've already said what i wanted to say. you're coming from some other place, it seems. let's just leave it at that. keep 'em flyin'!
  11. that's what I thought! but apparently, it is! "Caw-all for Super-Chicken!"
  12. amen. and amen. and now on to the really important stuff: who can identify the source of the above quote? we say it and hear it said all the time, but i was surprised recently when i went looking for its origin.
  13. huh? "a term of art?" wuzzat mean? i have no doubt that the term "woundedness" comes out of some wackjob belief system--a made-up psychobabble word. (it's so made up that when you search for it on google, google asks, "Did you mean boundedness?")
  14. one of the google ads at the top of this page is for "Urine-Off at discount prices." hmm.
  15. belated happy birthday, kevlar! we're almost twins!
  16. i've taken it upon myself to put all of ces/stf in a state of cryogenic suspension until we can figure out how best to deal with their problems. i think it's better this way, for everyone. perhaps one day in the distant future, they can be safely thawed--once science has developed a way to keep them from harming themselves and others. :P
  17. son of arthur, i did receive a free copy years ago. i got robbed. everybody has an opinion, of course. mine is that the book wasn't very good. first of all, they started with a premise and then set out to prove it (same thing they did with "don't blame god"), instead of doing what they profess to do, letting the bible speak for itself. for me, there was very little i hadn't heard already, in one form or another. not worth the time, in my opinion.
  18. hi, newcomer. reading your reply, i guess i wasn't clear enough in my original question. if karen ann, and whoever else, is still "wounded" after years and years of commitment to a way of thinking that promises healing, then maybe it's time to consider a new way of thinking. i've been away from the whole thing for almost 20 years. and i don't consider myself wounded IN THE LEAST. i'm just fine, thank you. (maybe it's because i don't spend so much of my time "considering myself." for all its lip service about service, there seems to be an awful lot in the twi/ces brand of christianity that's pretty self-centered.) of course, from their point of view, i just don't know how wounded i am. and from MY point of view, that's a fookin' trap if i ever saw one. is that clearer?
