in a way--it shows me that they really are just like ol' twi: "What they [the rank and file] don't know won't hurt us [the honchos]." f*ckers.

E-LE-VEN! UH! E-LE-VEN! UH!

anyone know what's going on over there since the ruckus? any changes? back to the status quo? or is everybody tight-lipped because of the lawsuits?

according to the blurb on amazon, it's Beloved of God Ministries in Westerville, Ohio. no website i can find. but i did find their federal form 990-EZ from 2002. it's the return for an organization that's tax exempt. says they made a whopping $27,000 in 2002! (do you think they declared cash income?) it's attached, if anyone's interested. i like the fact that they paid an accountant to fill out a form that couldn't possibly take more than 15 minutes to complete. 311812036_200212_990EZ.pdf

i think the whole "respect for other religions" thing is just window dressing. pull back the curtain, and there's that good old "holier than thou" superiority--no religion or denomination or cult would exist without the idea that it's better than ("superior to") other existing systems. that's the whole reason any religious group exists: someone decided that all the other groups are WRONG. (of course, there are some that got started because someone figured starting a religion beat working for a living!) otherwise, why not just join another group?

"Misquoting Jesus" - Has anybody read it?

try your public library. -
yeah, baby! the 11th corps! yee-ha! greatest corps of them all! (except for the wankers, of corps!) we are god's best! (most of us, anyway!)
-
care to elaborate?

is that right? sorry to be so cliché, but what about all the bad stuff that happens in this world? where was "what God's wanted" last week, when all those people were killed at Virginia Tech? didn't God want that stopped? (back in twi, we'd go into our "God can't overstep people's free will" rap about now. with maybe a little of "when we're outside of God's will, we tie His hands" sprinkled in.) it's a bunch of bullsh!t. lots of things happen all the time that God obviously doesn't "want" to happen. and lots of things i'd think He does want that don't happen. why? good question!

if anyone's wondering where twi is at these days, play that for them! yikes! lawrence welk had more soul! sounds to me like they ought to re-write that old book, and re-name it "The Way: Living in Fear," 'cause they're obviously scared of that old devil and his devil music.

when was that? i went out, i think the last two weeks of october our first year. i know the group right after me had tons of snow. (we had great weather.)
-
gee, you never invited ME! now i'm wondering how many of us were out and about, instead of where we were paying to be! not all that many, i guess--or someone would've noticed!
-
ha! a back-up person. man, you had balls! i don't remember what i thought about that possibility. not much, apparently, because i cut out all the time!
-
some of my favorite times were when we'd cut church, as i used to call it--leave campus before the sunday 10:30 fellowship, and spend 4 hours at the country kitchen drinking coffee! woo! (seems all my good memories centered around coffee.)
-
actually, dot, the high point of my week was when i rehearsed with the band. even though we had to practice at an impossible hour for rock and roll (5 am? now THAT'S blasphemy!), we had a great time writing beatlesque bible songs, knowing none of the heavies would ever pick up on our "devilish" inspiration! the next highest point was when we got to play. so i guess corps night was the 3rd highest point of my week! ya-HOO! (your comment made me wonder if "stringing chairs" is a phrase anyone else in the world used. so i did a google search--and the only hit i got with the same meaning was right here at greasespot!)
-
gee, i hate to be contrary :P , but i liked corps night. it was what i thought i went in the corps for, in-depth bible teaching. was it dull, droning and often nonsensical? absolutely. especially when vp himself would "expound." but, to me, it beat the hell out of the "work program," Dave B's bizarre witnessing skills (or whatever that wacko thing was), and most of the other crap we had to do. plus we got coffee! WOO! and some kind of "treat." (popcorn? what was it?)

don't you mean you were supposed to believe gawd to show you loose screws? (though i guess the loosest screws weren't at emporia, they were at hq!)

do you understand the notes you made in your bible?
sprawled out replied to coolchef's topic in About The Way
i even bought a rapidograph, so i could write the smaller than small! god, now i remember--i used to take notes during a teaching, then go home and transfer them, ever so carefully, into my bible. what a TWIt. it means "should," as in "Why, I oida..." -
did you ever hear wierwille apologize for anything ?
sprawled out replied to excathedra's topic in About The Way
no, but i do recall being coerced into apologizing to him for something i did right. man, i wish i could get a do-over on that one! -
i heard they even revoked his aerobic points!
-
good for you! it may be a little scary at first, but you'll be all right.
-
from vp's private collection, no doubt!
-
my point exactly. thanks, rascal.
-
hey, mikel, will you do me a favor? but before you do, let me smack you around a little and insult you a bit. then maybe you'll be more motivated to help me out. sound good?
