Virgina Tech Killer Identified? A Foreign National?
GrouchoMarxJr replied to Tony Soprano's topic in Open
...How very sad and tragic... How do we avoid this type of thing in the future?...we can't...not without locking down every university in the country and installing high security metal detectors, etc and making them like prisons..it's the same dilema that we consider to avoid terrorist attacks. It's one of the negative consequences that we must endure in order to remain free. My prayers are with the families of those victims. -
Did You Re-Evaluate What You Were Taught?
GrouchoMarxJr replied to Oakspear's topic in About The Way
I began having problems with twi doctrine a couple of years after Vic croaked...Martindale starting giving out directives that I thought were contrary to the bible...I suppose it was the teachings on ABS that really stuck in my craw...and then when lcm demanded that twig coordinators start making lists of "who's faithful and who isn't" and sending it in to hdqrts every week...I simply refused...and I also announced that I would be sending in my ABS anonymously from now on...I figured that God kept track of it and "they" didn't need to know....THAT really p*ssed them off. Shortly after that, I announced that I was leaving the ministry...it wasn't until AFTER I left, that people were told to stay away from me because I was possessed... ...This was in 1987. Soon after I left, it was almost like a veil was lifted from my eyes and most of the twi doctrine simply unraveled before my eyes... I contribute it to breaking free of group think and beginning to think for myself again. -
Am I ready to forgive him?...No.

...and I thought this was a thread about flatuence...

I kid you not...Looking back at some of the things came out of king okies mouth, I'm amazed that I didn't slip out in the middle of the night...

I always thought that corps night was the eqivalency of toilet training for a two year old...We were literally forced to sit until our taskmasters were satisfied at the level of excretement that was dispensed... ...but then again, a two year old is not required to consume the excretement...

No...I don't think that he'll show up here...but I like to keep the "door open" for him. (pun intended)...

C'mon Sudo...everybody knows that most people from your neck of the woods, can't read at all...

When twi first bought Emporia, there was a lot of work to do...I think it was the 6th corps that had plenty of legitimate work at that place when they first got underway...by the time that I got there, in the 10th corps, the place was fairly well streamlined...oh sure, there was maintainence work to do...mowing grass, fixing broken stuff...kitchen work, etc...but there were over 500 people there who needed to work 4 hours a day!... ...It was a real challenge for them to find stuff for us to do...some of the jobs were really stupid. For quite awhile I was sent from building to building with a screwdriver in my hand...my job was to look for loose screws on chairs. It was an awesome responsibility..and of course I had to be prepared to "shift gears" because after lunch, I would be facing the challenge of STRINGING chairs before the meetings... I often wonder what would have happened had they given people work to do that was actually consistant with Christian ministry?...such as sending people out into the community volunteering at hospitals, retirement homes, soup kitchens, setting up programs to help the disabled or the poor...reaching out and contributing to the community... what were some of the stupid jobs you had in residence?

..."Fear is rust on your zipper"...from the tape "Freedom from fear"... I think it's safe to say that Loy's zipper had no rust on it.

Perhaps you're not appreciating satori's sense of humor?

It is really hard for me to come clean, but here goes
GrouchoMarxJr replied to anothen's topic in Open
I find the subject matter of this thread to be very disturbing...at first I thought I would simply not read anymore...and thus avoid having to think about any of this... ...but I went ahead and read all the different posts anyway... The entire matter of sexually assaulting children is beyond sickening...the various responses are a testamony to how much pain people have gone through...and still go through because of this. I have no words of advice or comfort for anyone...I am at a loss in understanding this...I have never walked in any of your shoes...but my heart is overwhelmed by the intensity of the pain, the anger, the frustrations that people feel and live with. There seems to be so much that lies just beneath the surface in people's lives...I walk away from this thread with a heavy heart and a renewed understanding of how important it is to protect the children... -
Thanks RainbowGirl...I liked his dad too... :)

O'Malleys back! -
Sam Stone came home to his wife and family after serving in the conflict over seas and the time that he served had shattered all his nerves and left a little shrapnel in his knees... probably the best anti-VietNam war song ever written....(by John Prine)...
-
BY the way...Steve Goodman and John Prine (whom I love dearly), were best friends...they started out together in Chicago and were discovered by Kris Kristopherson... Steve's songs were sung by such folks as Willie Nelson, David Allen Coe, Judy Collins, Arlo Guthrie (City of New Orleans), and so many many more...he was one of the greatest folk singer/songwriters of this century... I highly suggest watching his CD "Live at Austin City Limits"...I laugh and cry every time I watch it...he left behind a wife and three daughters...if there's a God in heaven...He's holding Steve in the palm of His hands... Thanks again Dooj...thank you very much. :)

Thank you Dooj...This man had SO much heart, he always brings tears to my eyes...he died of leukemia at age 38 ...he was a gem.

C'mon Craig...log in and speak! At least John Lynn has the guts to post here...what's your problem? You were never shy to speak your mind before...what's holding you back?...fear or shame? We are the people that you addressed for years and years...cat got your tongue? No explanations?...no apologies?...You just gonna crawl into a corner and pretend that it never happened? Oh...I get it...when we were all "mezmerized" by way group think, you were bold and confident...but now that we are older and wiser, you are afraid of us...it's not a controlled environment where you can arrogantly spout off your platitudes to a captive audience...in other words...YOU are a chicken sh *t...right?
