Good point...I'll never forget walking around at the roa and seeing coloring books with lcm in his superhero costume on the front cover...I remember thinking at the time "good grief, Martindale has turned himself into Aquaman" and this monstrosity of a performance was being marketed to the kids!...Unbelievable! Hey kids...watch the mighty Aquaman squish the devils from hell as they swarm and gyrate all over the stage like lurid little sex demons...wasn't it about this time that the sex orgies with the teenagers happened at tent city at the roa? Perhaps, more than any other event...the AOS performance demonstrated how nuts lcm really was...How far the cheese had slipped off of his cracker. It was during this time that I began making my plans to slip out the back door and be gone.

I tend to think that because people's minds were "conditioned" to think and see things in a certain way...many of them actually "saw things"....things they thought were legitimate spiritual experiences...such as "devil spirits"... Looking at life through the prism of twi's dangerous and bogus doctrines is bound to produce "interpretations" of various life experiences that would fit with their teachings. Wearing twi tinted glasses, the guy was possessed out of his mind...whereas to someone else, maybe they had a bipolar disorder or maybe they were just drunk and acting stupid...it all depends on your point of view.

That's right...everything was either black or white...no middle ground...no room for debate, disagreement, or different conclusions...this was wayworld...a place where your own ideas were relinquished over to the group think mentality... No room to question or doubt...your thinking process was predetermined FOR you by "someone else"...not brainwashing?

...For the most part, I agree with the above statement made by Linda. The exception would be that I do not think that deliberately interupting and insulting people as they give their testamonies and causing those threads to disintigrate should be included in "allowing those with unpopular opinions their voice". A desire to see civility and good manners in certain situations should not be construed as an effort to silence opposing views...I have no desire to see this place become a mutual admiration society of likeminded greasespots...I encourage people to express their individuality, to debate and to disagree...but deliberate attempts to to discredit people as they give their personal testamonies and thus minimilizing the damage inflicted by twi should not be tolerated...especially at an anti-twi website...There should be SOME limits on what is allowed. IMO.

Spiritual awareness...Ha! What twi passed off as spiritual awareness was nothing more than an arrogant, self serving, "perception"...usually fueled by ego and smugness... That "knowing look" that would come from someone wearing the right name tag...it was a game. Squint your eyes like Clint Eastwood and slowly look around the room...pretend that your own stupid thoughts are actually a message from the divine creator...sent ESPECIALLY to you! (meaning...not them of the lesser name tags)... It was the stone wall that reason would run into...there was no logic or reason involved in the process...a proclamation would be made and those who were also "spiritual enough" would capitulate and abandon reasoning in favor of the "info from the cookie jar". It was the catch 22 of Wierwille's "law of believing"...in action. It became a tool of abuse and a substitute for honesty.

I'm glad I started this thread...It was time for the GSC community to discuss their thoughts on the topic of this thread...I think it's important and I am hopeful that there will be some improvements in certain regards. Some of you may think that I'm a bit rough around the edges...perhaps a bit caustic at times...well, I am. :) I have strong feelings about what this place is about and what we are doing here...Maybe I had to come out swinging a hatchet (boot the Wierwille apologists) in order for a "middle ground" to be honestly discussed. I appreciate the diversity of opinions here and am all in favor of honest debate and discussion...it would be boring if we all had the same opinion....However, I think it's the right thing to do to protect people telling their stories without detractors...

I suppose...in a twisted sort of way, we should be thanking WD...his outrageous statements only add fuel to the fires of our own anger...he rallies people together to state their opinions of what this lowlife Wierwille was all about...his utter and dismal denial of reality shocks us...his failure to listen to reason and to ignore the testamonies of so many people...gives us pause...how could someone ignore the obvious in order to defend the indefensible? It really makes no sense...unless of course WD is troll on a mission...

...And on it goes... What WD is doing now is exactly what we want to avoid on the "story telling" threads... His reasoning is circular and void of any real honesty or empathy...In my opinion that is. Wierwille was not convicted in a court of law for the things he did...and because of that, WD wants to silence his critics....personal first hand testamonies by NUMBERS of people do not count because they were not part of an official court record. You tell me if this is being honest? The bible exhorts people to avoid those that are evil...it doesn't require court convictions to determine who the evil ones are...does it Whitedove?

That's a fair enough statement...every person here is an individual and were all somewhat different... ...That being said, the real issue here is about conduct...Personally, I think that what Paw has been doing here is quite remarkable. He conducts interviews, brings us book reviews, presents very relevant information from very credible people who were there...not to mention the development of GS Radio... I think it's only fair that people respond with at least a modicum of respect for what is going on here....Let them present their doubts on another thread...the "story telling threads" should be treated in the same manner as the prayer room or memorial thread...at least ibn terms of antagonistic posts....a rule is needed, IMNSHO.

Whitedove...If you are in a group of people, face to face...and a woman is emotionally telling her story of how she was raped...would you respond to her in the same manner that you post here? Have you no sense of manners or good taste?...Have you no sensitivity to the person telling the story?...why would you question her to her face?...If you have doubts, wouldn't it be better to keep them to yourself until you could determine the truth?...and perhaps most important...what if her story is true?...and you conducted yourself in such a disgraceful way? What's in this for you?

Paw...I think it would be appropriate to create a forum where people who tell their stories can do so without detractors... It would be a good idea for a lot of reasons...
