God bless you, Roy! I hope you’re doing okay. It seems like you have a good attitude, and I can relate to having feelings that I’m clueless most of the time. Especially the part about sensing God might be trying to show you something. That sorta ties in to the other stuff you talked about – in The Way International I felt superior to outsiders and usually put the ministry first. I still get into reading the Bible, but I now think what God was trying to show me was that loving my family, my neighbors, friends and coworkers is the essence of the 2 great commandments – love God and neighbor. Yeah still enjoy the Korg effects box – partly because it keeps me from getting bored playing by myself all the time…If I was playing in a band I’d probably use just a few simple effects – at different times – reverb, flanger, fuzz, compression. Yeah that’s the Behringer mixer I have…bought mine at a local Guitar Center. The setup I described works / sounds good – I can mix my bass to blend-in or be more out-front when I’m trying to learn a bass line – bad notes stick out like a red flag. I have an iPhone 7 Plus – and almost 30 days of music on it, which uses 93.71GB of storage (I like to Bluetooth my music to my vehicle’s JBL sound system - and have a Bluetooth adapter on my Yamaha receiver at home too – so another way to jam with records is play iPhone thru stereo and bass thru Peavey amp…now if I put on Beatles, Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt, The Eagles, Stones or something of that nature – my wife usually doesn’t mind if I practice to one of them …and she might request I repeat a track )…so anyway – I plug in a 3.5mm stereo patch cord from iPhone Lightning to 3.5mm headphone Jack adapter to mixer. Haven’t had any issues so far… …which reminds me – it’s true confessions time: this was back in my formative years as a wannabee bass player – about 15 years old…when my older brother was out I would plug in my Frankenstein bass to an aux input of his Pioneer receiver. It sounded way better than my dinky 10-watt cheapy practice amp made for guitar…one day I noticed a little bit of distortion – sounded a little like something rattling when you played records or radio at about half volume – so I quit using that as a practice amp after that. ...and since then my brother has had a few more stereo receivers anyway I’ve noticed some heavy amp enclosures come with snap-on casters – so you can pull them out once on the stage floor.

I don't know if you've ever read anything on them or the founder - but as a techy I get into that stuff: Jackson Guitars - Wikipedia Grover Jackson - Wikipedia ~ ~ ~ ~ Speaking of modifications – I Had a piezo bridge installed on my Kramer fretless and it gives the strings a very organic wooden tone. The factory DiMarzio P Bass pickup sounds great and the guitar tech installed a mixing knob so I can blend piezo bridge with DiMarzio…still have another modification on the docket - I bought a thing called Black Ice from Amazon – it’s an on-board battery-free overdrive for bass or guitar…holding off on installing it for several reasons: still haven’t decided how I want to integrate it with a switch to change options or cut it off, the wiring diagram lists several ways to wire it up for options on lighter or heavier distortion – and I want ALL the options – so I have a 12-pole rotary switch on my Wishlist – and want to rig up a temporary model with flying leads coming out the electronics access panel on the back of the body – experiment before I make anything permanent – and since It will necessitate the addition of at least one more control knob on the front side – I’ll wait until I’ve got the body “re-stained”…which brings me to the next project: This is an older picture of my Kramer (before piezo bridge installed- note the 3rd mixing knob is not there) was originally a burnt orange color ( at least that’s what I called it ). (Also Loved the idea of an aluminum neck since I had a bad experience of having a Gibson EB3 Bass – my model was one of the only years – I think – when they set up the tuning pegs perpendicular to the headstock – like on an acoustic standup bass…maybe it was a bad design or a combo of a bad design on the hard-shell case - cuz the tip of the tuning pegs pushed the headstock upwards – and the glued-on neck developed a bow in it…sold it – and bought a Fender Jazz bass…gave that away when I went WOW and slowly worked my way back to getting some decent gear) Anyway…when we got back to Rome City – I talked the assistant corps coordinator to let me and the elder corps / drummer in our band Fred B drive back to Chicago and make the trade.

How or why did wierwille come up with the idea that “the Word takes the place of the absent Christ”? We may never know – only guess…But giving him the benefit of a doubt on motive - we can at least observe the unintended consequences. Why did he relegate the Gospels to the Old Testament and exalt the importance of the epistles? Don’t know that either. I also thought about his anti-Trinity campaign with the book JCING and in general ranting from the preacher’s pulpit. I do wonder about the significance of all that. What is “the Word”? It’s whatever wierwille taught us it was. 4 crucified is the Word of God…Scripture interprets itself is how “the Word” is made known unto you – and remember it must not contradict whatever else wierwille said on that or any other subject. Another bad consequence - wierwille’s pseudo-Christianity was more intellectual than emotional. The full title of In His Steps by Charles Sheldon is In His Steps - What Would Jesus Do? That’s a very compelling directive! But with wierwille – he’d say stuff like “what does the Word say?” which somehow mutated in the typical TWI-mindset to mean “what would wierwille think of my situation?” It neutralized sympathy and empathy which are very effective ways to really connect with others. I’ve mentioned before on Grease Spot Café that in a practical sense - what difference does it make if one Christian believes in the divinity of Jesus Christ and another Christian doesn’t? If Jesus Christ is truly Lord to both Christians – there should be no difference in how they live out their faith. If it was such a no-no to think of Jesus Christ as divine...as God or if there was such a risk of falling into idolatry by having our attention focused so much on Jesus Christ – I would think there would be clearly stated conditions and rules in the New Testament…hey listen, I’m not one of wierwille’s mischaracterizations - - a possessed illogical Trinitarian – cuz I know the "pecking order" of the Trinity: But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the first fruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. A fascinating point! After reading these posts, I did some online searching – casting a wide net over can a narcissist / sociopath ever feel guilt? One excerpt from an article got me thinking: Guilt (not to be confused with shame) like other emotions from our unconscious mind, is sent when we are going against our values. When you violate any of your core values, your mind sends you guilt to keep you on the right track. Examples of these values are: “I’m not a liar, I can’t cheat, I can’t abuse someone”. People have different values hence different reasons for feeling guilty. If you are a religious person and one of your core values is to never lie, you will feel guilty whenever you lie. from: Understanding Mind: do narcissists ever feel guilty? ~ ~ ~ ~ if you consider wierwille to be a religious person – maybe he believed he was - even if he was so deluded and hypocritical so as to be blind to his own duplicity – one of the openly stated core values of his ideology was the law of believing…so him saying he “wracked his memory, looking for some incident or action whereby he displeased God Almighty” could mean he failed at believing God for deliverance – he could also have said that as a form of denial - in psychology, denialism is a person's choice to deny reality as a way to avoid a psychologically uncomfortable truth – which in wierwille’s deluded world was that the power of believing didn’t help him – or that his believing wasn’t there to be delivered – or some such nonsense around the law of believing baloney...and it could have all been just an act like his other religious schtick.
