  1. Wow, Jonny - that's crazier than my "Dreams of the Dashboard Jesus." Of course you realize you'll now have to sit through the standard GSC de-briefing about your dream.

    Need a favour !

Poultry Mache Kickin' Chicken The Fowl Ball Picking up on the singing idea: Roost Springsteen Cock-O-the-Rock [which could also refer to VPW or LCM]
  3. A great post, Roy. One of your lines made me remember an old one-liner I heard in TWI - something along the lines of - when you share something it's either to bless or impress. I think there's a lot to that...I'll pray for you too !!!
  4. Have a blast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Great ones, SafariVista - love 'em all !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I can hear it now - the following spoken in a thick Transylvanian accent: "Look into my eyes - deeper - deeper - you are getting stupider than stupid."
  7. Have a great trip, Templelady! Last year Tonto and I visited Seattle - I'd go back there in a heartbeat. Oregon and Montana sound neat, too. Never been to either and would like to see them both....Now, on the serious side of things - don't forget to check with city officials for any required permits - !

    Our Grad

Congrats to the family of Pipes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Yeah, DMiller - it is gettin' deep in here!
  10. What if everything tasted the same - and different flavors were actually a result of our believing? Lord, I believe - help thou my un-herb belief.
  11. I kinda got a hankerin' for Pineapple Pizza...
  12. I literally believed myself into a state of unbelief just to prove that the law of believing works - now I don't believe it works.
  13. Welcome to Grease Spot, Pete and DesertVis - I've found the original text where CK pulled his signature from - for some reason CK dropped off the last phrase - but here it is in it's completeness: Thank God for VPW's wickedness being exposed!
  14. I've been studying the Bible for 30 years - and have no problem remembering a lot of what I read. Why can't you remember if you've been learning the Bible 5 or 10 years?...And you're right - the verse in Ephesians in small letters goes perfectly with the rest of YOUR post signature in big letters - like the surgeon general's warning in little letters on every pack of cigarettes!
  15. Thank God GSC warns people about VPW and TWI
  16. Roy - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today. I lost my mom to cancer a few years ago. I miss our talks - she was a wonderful Christian woman. Her favorite book was the gospel of John - it's also mine. Roy, I'm also looking forward to that great big family reunion in the sky!
  17. Two newsworthy items: The Church of the Labor Day Calzones are talking about disbanding since they only have one day out of the year that gives them cause for celebration...And Our Lady of Perpetual Pasta clergy are up in arms over the Athletes of the Atkins video.
  18. The way I understand things Roy [and I need to emphasize I'm not sure on this - I'm also just thinking out loud] is that there are three types of death in the Scriptures - all of which speak of separation: 1. Spiritual death - separation from God - which is what happened to Adam & Eve that very day. 2. Physical death - separation of soul from body. 3. Eternal death - eternal separation from God. ...The difference between 1 and 3 is that in 1 man is not in a permanently unredeemable state...
  19. Wow Doojable!!!!! Love the artwork - especially the Point Shoes. Thanks for posting those - she's very talented!
  20. The following is from www.criticalthinking.org an excerpt of an article entitled The Elements of Reasoning and the Intellectual Standards by Richard Paul and Linda Elder What follows are some guidelines helpful to students as they work toward developing their reasoning abilities: 1. All reasoning has a PURPOSE. o Take time to state your purpose clearly. o Distinguish your purpose from related purposes. o Check periodically to be sure you are still on target. o Choose significant and realistic purposes. 2. All reasoning is an attempt to FIGURE SOMETHING OUT, TO SETTLE SOME QUESTION, TO SOLVE SOME PROBLEM. o Take time to clearly and precisely state the question at issue. o Express the question in several ways to clarify its meaning and scope. o Break the question into sub questions. o Identify if the question has one right answer, is a matter of opinion, or requires reasoning from more than one point of view. 3. All reasoning is based on ASSUMPTIONS. o Clearly identify your assumptions and determine whether they are justifiable. o Consider how your assumptions are shaping your point of view. 4. All reasoning is done from some POINT OF VIEW. o Identify your point of view. o Seek other points of view and identify their strengths as well as weaknesses. o Strive to be fair-minded in evaluating all points of view. 5. All reasoning is based on DATA, INFORMATION and EVIDENCE. o Restrict your claims to those supported by the data you have. o Search for information that opposes your position as well as information that supports it. o Make sure that all information used is clear, accurate, and relevant to the question at issue. o Make sure you have gathered sufficient information. 6. All reasoning is expressed through, and shaped by, CONCEPTS and IDEAS. o Identify key concepts and explain them clearly. o Consider alternative concepts or alternative definitions to concepts. o Make sure you are using concepts with care and precision. 7. All reasoning contains INFERENCES or INTERPRETATIONS by which we draw CONCLUSIONS and give meaning to data. o Infer only what the evidence implies. o Check inferences for their consistency with each other. o Identify assumptions which lead you to your inferences. 8. All reasoning leads somewhere or has IMPLICATIONS and CONSEQUENCES. o Trace the implications and consequences that follow from your reasoning. o Search for negative as well as positive implications. o Consider all possible consequences. 21. Oh SafariVista - you have brought back great memories!!!!!!! I'm trying to remember exactly how this one went : Q: What did Charlton Heston see in Planet of the Apes that indicated he was in New York? Paul Lynde: A Puerto Rican.
  22. Dmiller, I love that story!!!!!! Very funny - and that sounds about the way my brain functions - I mean the kid writing on the cupboards - :) [edited for parental control]
  23. Templelady - did you get the appropriate permit for that post? signed, Permit Clerk 25
  24. SafariVista - you're right on target!!!! It's a major case of learned-helplessness....Thinking back on the crisis phase of TWI after Patriarch - it looked like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off! All the decision-making and "thinking ability" resided [by consent of the masses] in the top leadership - and they [top leadership] "checked out" [didn't know what to do, inaction] - imho.
