Yes! what's the attraction? do birds of a feather flock together? does wierwille ideology have a tendency to breed sociopathic traits in followers? Wierwille-fans have a habit of running up the flagpole the fantasy of a pathological liar, a cheating, thieving , sociopathic, mean and abusive sexual predator like it’s no worse than anyone else when they’re out of fellowship with the weak and sin-tolerant god that wierwille promoted. the god that wierwille promoted is indeed a fantasy of a sociopath’s creative imagination who - like the devotee cannot distinguish between what’s right and wrong, between truth and lies. The way that wierwille presented himself through plagiarism and sincerity many thought he was the real deal and not a faker. Many thought their lives were changed for the better because that was the group hype . Narrow minded people feel their lives are better because they’re right and all others are wrong. wierwille had a charismatic personality - many folks were attracted to his influence NOT because they thought he was a holy man - but because he made himself out to be a maverick - this appealed to the counterculture movement in its day. He went against mainstream Christianity and disparaged academia, cognitive skills, and worldly logic. He was not your typical religious leader. he turned the straight and narrow path of Christianity into something self-referential “as long as you love God & neighbor you can do as you full well please” . - as wierwille would often brag “anything done in the love of God is okay”. what a handy rule of thumb - if YOU THINK you’re doing something out of the love of God it’s okay. Plagiarizing the works of others so you can offer your followers a new and improved version of their work. A sociopath will always have the advantage over folks with a conscience. Why push yourself to develop your research skills and original ideas when you can take the shortcut and plagiarize from others. Occasionally I hear wierwille-fans say we should focus on wierwille’s “successes”. That makes me wonder what their definition of success is. Do sociopaths congratulate each other over getting away with unconscionable acts? Why would anyone defend a sociopath? Do ‘great’ sociopaths think alike?

Exposing your gobbledygook, delusions and lies is in order over this. Mike , you run up the flagpole your fantasy of a pathological liar, a cheating, thieving , sociopathic, mean and abusive sexual predator like it’s no worse than anyone else when they’re out of fellowship with the weak and sin-tolerant god that wierwille promoted. the god that wierwille and you promote is indeed a fantasy of a sociopath’s creative imagination who - like the devotee cannot distinguish between what’s right and wrong, between truth and lies. Many thought their lives were changed for the better because that was the group hype . To focus on wierwille’s “successes” makes me wonder what is the definition of success. Do sociopaths congratulate each other over getting away with unconscionable acts? Is Mike deluded or deranged for being so faithful and loyal to defend a sociopath? Do ‘great’ sociopaths think alike?

Interesting choice of brain parts if you don’t mind my saying so. The amygdala is responsible for many important functions that involve emotional responses, decision-making, and processing memory. Not sure how I feel about that. I go back and forth on whether I should get rid of mine…but come to think of it - I may have done that already - just can’t remember where or when.

The stayed mind can get you in trouble. That’s why when it comes to religion and politics, I prefer my mind stay out of it. Otherwise, I tend to give others a piece of my mind.

1. why would you assume your dumb-a$$ definitions would connect better with the folks at home? Are they also dumb-a$$e$ like you? 2.According to reputable sources like Antimatter | Definition & Facts | Britannica stable antimatter does not appear to exist in our universe…so I understand why you would make a word combo like “anti-idol” – it doesn’t exist in our universe. 3.Like your other theories this one is also based on confirmation bias and astral a$$-hole projection. You criticize and condemn others for that which you faithfully practice – idolizing wierwille. When a devoted follower finds out the teacher of PFAL – wierwille – was an unabashed plagiarist, pathological liar, sociopath, drunkard, egocentric, malignant narcissist, mean-spirited, abusive, sexual predator it can be overwhelming both intellectually and emotionally… ...Judging by your undying love for wierwille and PFAL displayed on Grease Spot Café for some 20 years it seems to me YOU MIKE have never come to terms with the REAL victor paul wierwille …Well… if you ever do snap out of your delusion, you’ll probably have to deal with grief and loss…experiencing emotional and psychological trauma correlates with grief and loss. I’ve found there are two well-known models for dealing with grief and loss. One is from Elisabeth Kübler-Ross a Swiss-American psychiatrist and a pioneer in near-death studies. She theorized there were 5 stages of grief, but her studies were with people who were dying (terminally ill), not people who were grieving over the loss of a loved one. In her 1969 book “On Death and Dying” she proposed the 5 stages of grief and loss: 1. Denial and isolation 2. Anger 3. Bargaining 4. Depression 5. Acceptance I think there is some merit to her work although there’s a strong consensus among psychologists that people who are grieving over any kind of loss do not necessarily go through the stages in the same order or experience all of them. The other model is from George Bonanno. His research is noted for contradicting Kübler-Ross’ 5 stages of grief. As a professor of clinical psychology at Columbia University, he conducted more than two decades of scientific studies on grief and trauma, which have been published in several papers of peer-reviewed journals in the field of psychology. His studies came out of several thousand subjects and included people who have suffered losses in the U.S. and cross-cultural studies in various countries around the world. His subjects suffered losses through war, terrorism, deaths of children, premature deaths of spouses, sexual abuse, childhood diagnoses of AIDS, and other potentially devastating loss events or potential trauma events – such as losing a job, or one of the parents losing custody of a child through divorce, loss of a romantic relationship, loss of a pet, losing faith in one’s religion. Bonanno’s findings indicate that natural resilience is a part of the human psyche, and that there are four possible paths one could take in dealing with grief and loss. The four trajectories are as follows: Resilience: "The ability of adults in otherwise normal circumstances who are exposed to an isolated and potentially highly disruptive event, such as the death of a close relation or a violent or life-threatening situation, to maintain relatively stable, healthy levels of psychological and physical functioning" as well as "the capacity for generative experiences and positive emotions". Recovery: When "normal functioning temporarily gives way to threshold or sub-threshold psychopathology (e.g., symptoms of depression or post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD), usually for a period of at least several months, and then gradually returns to pre-event levels". Chronic dysfunction: Prolonged suffering and inability to function, usually lasting several years or longer. Delayed grief or trauma: When adjustment seems normal but then distress and symptoms increase months later. Researchers have not found evidence of delayed grief, but delayed trauma appears to be a genuine phenomenon.” (for more details on the above see Wikipedia on Grief and Wikipedia on George Bonanno ) So, if you ever do “snap out of it” I sincerely wish you the best whatever path you find yourself on. 4.now that you mention it - reviewing the opening on your Jump to Concussions thread I see how you’ve deceived yourself – you refuse (for whatever reason) to see snapping as brainwashing. There’s a lot of stuff available to clear up your confusion, ignorance and maybe you’ll use better judgement in your choice of words – here’s a small sample: Snapping: America's Epidemic of Sudden Personality Change - Wikipedia Brainwashing - Wikipedia Brainwashing | Britannica The Cult that Snapped: The Journey into the Way International by Karl Kahler | eBook | Barnes & Noble® (barnesandnoble.com) The Art of Brainwashing | Psychology Today How Brainwashing Works | HowStuffWorks This Is What Happens When You Snap | Psychology Today 5. For the benefit of newcomers to Grease Spot Café – and to the dismay of old timers – lest you forget ( you've got to suffer if you want to sing the Grease Spotter's Blues ) I’m recycling some bull-$hit analytics from a couple of threads ( here ) and ( here ) where Mike used his own standards for re-defining anything – known as the great Mike principle and it goes something like this: wierwille can only communicate what he is, which is bull-$hit. PFAL puts wierwille’s ‘creation’ in you, which is now your bull-$hit. That bull-$hit fvcks up your cognitive skills and becomes manifested in cyberspace as you post. Our art department has the following diagram to illustrate the great Mike principle: not sure how to interpret this – maybe expert trollers have more ballz to string along more fish? ~ ~ ~ ~ Anyway, as promised here be dah select items from 2 other threads… basically re-threads Hey Mike, the English language is calling…wants its words back You’re like a bull-Shonta in a glass dictionary FYI - don't take it personally Mike - I've got nothing against you - it's that damn idol you're protecting. ~ ~ ~ ~ Let’s decode Mike’s mishmash dictionary: Anti = a PREPOSITION - opposed to; against. Idol = a person or thing that is greatly admired, loved, or revered what a goofball! again with the redefinitions! oy vey! ~ ~ ~ ~ Consider me being in the anti-idol group please Jonah 2:8 Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. Galatians 5:19-21 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Colossians 3:5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. I John 5:21 Dear children, keep yourselves from idols. ~ ~ ~ ~ Psalm 97:10 Hate evil, you who love the Lord, Psalm 119:104 From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore, I hate every false way. Proverbs 13:5 A righteous man hates falsehood, But a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully Romans 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. I'm proud to be in the idol-haters group well... if you're promoting wierwille / PFAL as someone / something to be greatly admired, loved, or revered - you're asking for trouble anyway. you're an idol-representative...an idol-salesman You’re so funny Mike - you make no sense whether you're promoting a nonsensical "thesis" or trying to sell folks on your favorite idols - wierwille and PFAL You’re so funny...and unconvincing but your persistence is something else I'm sure your posts will get tens of views ~ ~ ~ ~ title for the collateral that comes with Mike's class The Absence of Good Sense. Once you’re a seasoned grad you can take the standalone session The Abscess of Nonsense

Well old chum, it looks like there’s at least one Grease Spotter who takes the place of the absent wierwille.

Love it Bolshevik! That's what this thread needed - some fresh eyes on it

unholy bull-$hit, Batman ! That truly unbelievable snake up wierwille’s a$$ just switched things up again "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isa. 5:20.)

The dangerous Word of Faith Movement and how it harmed Christians in twi.
T-Bone replied to WordWolf's topic in About The Way
OldSkool, here’s some more options – you can make a list of hyperlinks of Grease Spot Café threads and other helpful websites / books / resources in your profile page…I wish WordWolf would do the same – in my book he’s like the ultimate chronicler and doctrinal consultant for all things TWI ! Doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking – Skyrider’s is concise and to the point - see Skyrider's about me Or you can channel the spirit of verbosity like I do bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha occasionally adding hyperlinks to the multi-volume Thelonious Hyphen Bone’s Guide for Those Disappointed with The Way International - I just added this thread to volume 5 Sidestepping Reality (see the following excerpt I just revised) 5. Sidestepping reality One of victor paul wierwille’s methods of sidestepping any real issues folks had with the ministry’s extraordinary claims was to teach that we should not go by our five senses or worldly logic – that it was part of the spiritual battle... When I first got involved with TWI, being young and naïve I bought into all that – TWI’s ideas provided a means to rationalize away logic or reality…I think “successful” con artists have a real knack for embedding the process of self-deception into devoted followers. There seemed to be an endless number of pat answers for why you were not "manifesting the more than abundant life" – the ideal lifestyle of a Way-believer. Many TWI-leaders would often say things to build hype for some program or class or simply to encourage behavior and attitudes that were acceptable to the group. It all depended on how imaginative TWI-leadership could be and how proficient they are at “diagnosing” the cause of your "dilemma", using ministry jargon - buzzwords and spiritual or biblical sounding terms. Sadly, it seems the goal of counseling someone having a hard time with the law of believing is to encourage them to continue to chase their own tail – to spend a whole lot of time and energy doing something but achieving nothing. Albert Einstein is credited with saying “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.” … …Here's a relevant thread: The Dangerous Word of Faith movement and how it harmed Christians in TWI And here's some interesting reading on the relationship of faith and reason...and about dealing with regret: Beyond Seduction: A Return to Biblical Christianity by Dave Hunt The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism by Timothy Keller Excerpt from About yours truly -
Yes - and in general I think relationships are a big priority with God / Jesus Christ; In Matthew 5 Jesus recommended active reconciliation over any “religious “ obligations: 23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.
-
Well I’ll be damned ! I had a feeling wierwille plagiarized his marriage counseling techniques from somewhere...and in his typical classic move he changed it up a little - the woman had one arm tied behind her back while fighting from inside a pit and the man had the sack filled with rocks.

Okay – I see your point – and I have no definitive answers to your questions…though I will say from what I gather mentioned in the New Testament docs, it seems to me that the ‘governing system’ of the church has overseers - managers…those who shepherd God’s flock, who are expected to work under the Chief Shepherd – holding to the message of Jesus Christ. Yeah, it’s far from perfect – but that’s the arrangement we have for now...I assume that's the idea behind seminaries. 5 The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. 6 An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. 8 Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. 9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it. 10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith 14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. Titus 1 5 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. 5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. I Peter 5

In my opinion, that’s absolute thinking to suppose Jesus Christ is directing the affairs of the church in a totalitarian manner. Factions warring over differences in whether or not Adam & Eve had belly buttons was one of wierwille’s arguments / reasons for accepting his method of interpreting “The Word” – and there was a method to his madness - in my opinion there was a diabolical purpose to the Scripture twisting, double-talk, and logical fallacies – that’s what made him a pseudo-Christian harmful and controlling cult-leader. wierwille had this whole caricature of the church in chaos to present himself as the one to restore the law and order of “The Word”. laying aside pseudo-Christian harmful and controlling cults, in general I believe fundamentalists do tend to be narrower minded than evangelicals when it comes to debates over interpreting Scripture. Is scholarly debate really such a bad thing? I don’t think so. There’s an instance of someone who was driving out demons but wasn’t in Jesus’ group: “Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.” “Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.” Luke 9:49, 50 what's interesting - the instance wasn't about a difference in interpreting the Scriptures. This person was doing good in Jesus' name. What's noteworthy is Jesus' reaction to his disciple's complaint.

thanks, Mike - cool website!

I picked up on the journey idea from a few sources: my early years on Grease Spot - I think Belle had a thread about it; "the purpose driven life" by R Warren - he mentions 3 metaphors of life in the Bible: life is a journey, a test, an assignment (I think that's how it goes); and lastly, my curiosity about philosophy and psychology both are into exploring which to me means going on a journey

I think generally paradoxes, mysteries, the unexplainable and such fascinate many folks. my 2-bit philosophy thinks that besides giving one a sense of meaning, another attraction of religion is it attempts to explain the unexplainable.

7 habits of highly successful people is one of my favorite books - hadn't read it in a while - so I lean toward Covey - for at least part of the quote

The original story of Pinnochio was a lot darker - more mysterious - and something to mentally wrestle with like a paradox in some ways - unlike Disney’s cheesy version…recently I watched Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022) . This is not your typical rewrite. It’s darker and gets into adult themes. Visually it’s impressive using stop-action animation and I didn’t notice any computer generated images - it’s like a real world…in tone this reiteration is probably the closest to the original story, written by Carlo Collodi in 1881. A critic on the late Roger Ebert’s website said of it “…Pinocchio, born without the inhabitations of the human condition, only conforms to the norms to gain his father's validation. Del Toro is nothing if not a gentle champion of the misunderstood to those whose appearance, origin, or worldview isolate them from the homogeneity of the masses.” that’s some heavy stuff packed into what I’ve always dismissed as a silly kid’s story

Hi Charity - Yes - there’s certainly more to it. You made me think of the great quadruple principle: The Father > the Son > the Holy Spirit > you. Another thing is it speaks to correct the wrong thinking of wierwille’s “ the Word takes the place of the absent Christ “ which is an impractical theory. Christ dwelling in our hearts suggests the very presence of our Lord EVEN IN OUR THINKING! Why is that important? Thinking that honors our Lord will lead to Christ-honoring behavior. I remember a quote - not sure where it’s from - but anyway it goes something like this …a 1 and a 2 and a 1,2,3: character is a composite of our habits Sow a thought reap an action Sow an action reap a habit Sow a habit reap a character Sow a character reap a destiny I think the word “destiny” has a lot of wiggle room. A simple dict. def. says destiny is the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future…rather than “magical thinking” I believe it’s about self-determination - the process by which a person controls their own life. The “hidden power” is not the law of believing but the invisible ‘driver’ in our minds…which makes me ask the question “who is in the driver’s seat of my life’s journey?” Driving is a pretty good metaphor. What is the destination? Do you use maps, GPS, compass, occasionally ask strangers for directions? While in TWI - even though I wasn’t aware of it - wierwille ideology more or less set the destination and route to take - take PFAL…run a twig…go WOW…go corps…so wierwille ideology was the map, the navigator and often backseat driver since TWI likes to micromanage. One of the most common themes in the Bible is that of a journey. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet…I am the way, the truth, the life…Hebrews 11 mentions those on life’s journey admitted they were foreigners and strangers on earth - longing for a heavenly country…Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Self-determination just means you are in the driver’s seat. Now what is the destination? That depends on where you are now. Ecclesiastes challenges me to look at life as more than just the here and now. And you’d think the Bible would give us more info on the future eternal state of everything - not really - but it does have a lot of directives on HOW to journey in the here and now…love your neighbor as yourself…treat others like you would like to be treated…let Christ dwell in your heart.

Hi Charity - here's my 2 cents... First off let me say what the renewed mind is NOT: When I was in the Family Corps at the Rome City Campus wierwille showed us a pornographic video of women having sex with a dog. Bear in mind this was the Family corps, so besides adults there were teens present! In the set up beforehand, wierwille’s preliminary remarks foisted this $hit on us under the pretext of training us to become competent counselors in a supposedly Christian ministry - so that when people come to you with their problems you shouldn’t be shocked by anything. As a group I think most of us were shocked, unnerved and flustered by wierwille’s flagrant disregard for anyone’s feelings, social mores or the inappropriateness of what he did. And to add insult to injury, after the video was over – wierwille sat there all smug in a comfortable chair drinking his Drambuie, looks over the stunned audience and casually says, “I’ve so renewed my mind that stuff like this doesn’t bother me.” ...wierwille used “renew your mind” like a trump card to cause feelings of guilt in those who were offended by his behavior – like they’re the ones with a problem and are being unchristian-like. By the way, it’s not like wierwille showing this porn video to our Family Corps was an isolated incident. Over the years he had shown it to many other Way Corps during their in-residence training – as well as taking that as the opportune time to launch into other salacious and titillating topics (as he did with our Family Corps that night). Soooooooo, that’s NOT the renewed mind! That’s a perverted harmful and controlling cult-leader’s method of indoctrination – desensitize and move boundaries. ~ ~ ~ ~ Now look at Romans 12: 1 & 2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will… Romans 12 NIV - A Living Sacrifice - Bible Gateway The Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible notes of Romans 12:1,2 that Paul’s wording of “living sacrifice” is figurative and would have been relevant to those familiar with Old Testament like in Psalms 51:17 and Proverbs 21:3 as an expression of devotion to God . Because most animal sacrifices were slaughtered, Paul’s addition of “living” might strike hearers as a oxymoron, while stretching the image to cover continued devotion. End of referencing Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible ~ ~ ~ ~ There are several dramatic differences from wierwille’s teaching / modeling the renewed mind and what is obvious in the biblical text: wierwille: I can conduct myself toward others anyway I full well please. Romans 12:1: pledge that you will conduct yourself toward others in a way that honors God - which will please Him. wierwille: I speak in tongues – that is true worship. Romans 12:1: honoring God in everything you do is true and proper worship. wierwille: enjoy all the pleasures and evils of this world by not giving it a second thought. Romans 12:2: do not adapt to this world. wierwille: change the way you think about your bad behavior. Romans 12:2: renovate your mind – by cleansing and repairing it. ( the how-to I leave up to a Christian’s study and application of the Bible working in tandem with The Holy Spirit). wierwille: so you can deceive yourself, and think you are doing God a favor. Romans 12:2: walk the talk to demonstrate to yourself what is right…this alludes to Scripture being self-authenticating – see Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own…John 7:17 ~ ~ ~ ~ Well, that’s my 2 cents anyway – I’ll shut up and let others chime in

Oops Mike has a point. By operating the 10th manifestation, retroactive cognitive skills, he was well aware of the bull-$hit incognito. He really doesn’t care who wrote the bull-$hit…shingles doesn’t care either…and honey badgers flat out just don’t give a damn.

I was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature for ghost-writing Being and Nothingness. ~ ~ ~ ~ FYI : I’m channeling a Kristen Wiig character on SNL…she’s super competitive and is obsessed with one-upping anybody…. But this also is a dream within a dream - since I received an Emmy for creating that character for Kristen.
