  1. Now see, I distinctly remember a teaching where we were told NOT to throw out our meds until the meds themselves made us sick. How the teachings morphed... And what I just can't understand is, Why! It's not like TWI had some great healing ministry going on. How many times did we get "ministered to" for a cold, get better 4 or 5 days later (ie, the normal length of time to heal from a cold,) and then say that God healed us? That delusion in and of itself was wrong.
  2. In a way, TWI taught the ultimate way to use people. Now, this may be different for some of you , since I was fairly young when I got it, but I remember talking to people solely because I thought I could get them to a fellowship. Then they came to twig - they were "babes.' The they took the class - now they were "just new grads." Then the "real fun" began NOW you got to watch their every move and correct them when they were "off." If they balked - more reproof. If they didn't "obey" they were shunned. Not really M&A-ed since that wasn't a policy that I recall (at least by that name.) "We have no friends when it comes to the Word." Literal acc to usage: "All our friends must believe exactly the same as we do." Which eventually became: "We have no friends." I'm much happier knowing where I stand and who my friends are. Most of my friends do not believe like me - and I welcome that. Recently a friend and I had a pretty heated argument. It lasted until I realized that I really didn't care if she believed the same thing I did on the matter. I told her that I thought our friendship was strong enough that it could hold up even if we didn't agree on everything - and she agreed. End of argument. That allowed each of us to think for ourselves, removed any hidden agendas - or the appearance of such, and gave each of us back what we cherished about the friendship - the right to be totally ourselves. No more lock-stepping here. :)

Awwww ....Ductape that's not true. The truth is that most of us don't vote on that stuff anyway. (Have only looked at it the two times I read a thread of this nature.) What counts are real people, not a bunch of stars in cyberspace.
  4. WG- No false doctrine is worth your health. The truth is that you knew all along what was right, we just helped you process it all. Churches can be wonderful and they can be awful. You get a group of people together with strong beliefs and there will always be conflict. You're a strong woman. I'm sure that you've helped many people in that class with your stand.
  5. Couldn't find his Bio... Maybe I missed it.
  6. You know WTH - you have NO idea what you're talking about here. I sat on that story for over 20 years, simply because while I believed my friend, I also didn't have much more information than what she gave me. (She was sooo distraught that I didn't get much information - hence, why I told her to seek someone we both thought we could trust.) BUT - when the story got corroborated by more than one independent source I was able to put it in its proper perspective. Oh and there are demons in the real world....some would say I just posted a reply to one of them. Pretend you're a Lord Sith all you want... it's really just another mask.

I ignore most of that stuff. Don't even look at it. I only raised Notta's rating out of fun because of the question she asked. I think a lot of it comes with the features of the board. Don't like it? Ignore it.
  8. Actually the threads don't cover much. They reveal how little Mike thinks of God's Word and how much he worships vpw. Most of the posts are Mike getting dizzy with his circular reasoning and the posters calling him on it. Now... speak in tongues while you read these posts you won't be deceived by your five senses... except you have to know what's in them to know all that you can know by your five senses... except... Dizzy yet?

I think it's about if you enjoy a person - their post, their sense of humor, their insight... Think of it as a kudo and a wink ;)

I just raised your rating a bit ;)
  12. Not my kind of music, but I wish them a life as full of fun as their wedding vows.
  13. I think the nametag thing wasn't so bad, at first. I could even see the point in having them color coded for Way Corps. But - there was no reason to differentiate between corps, or between Advanced Class grads and University of Life grads. The usual point of a nametag is to make it easier to know someone's name. That's all that was necessary. The nametag thing became a whole religion of sorts. I think it became a way to sell these classes. Have people be walking advertisements. Hey, car companies do it with their symbols, as do car salesmen -with their name on the back bumper.
  14. Actually, there is one more source... (Mike used to get around a lot.) This was before the Amazing, Ultimate, PFAL Thread to end all threads....;);) OK, Once and for all - Dot... Mike never answers anything in just two minutes... besides, then there won't be yet one more thread filled with that dribble.
  15. All 14 apostles died. Check Everyone dies. Check God may have provided a way for them to not get eaten up and die??? WTF?! Benefits exceeding all since the first century? How would you know? Were you there in the first century? I'm just going to let your "logic" just 'sit there - like a duck.' (quoting your hero there ;))
  16. Another leap in logic with that big "IF." BTW- God is infinite while books are finite. So even the Bible is not really "as much God as God is God." In fact any written work that is "the Word' is not as much God as God is God. (In anticipation of you saying that the Bible isn't the Word at all and that is why God needed VP to write the collaterals.) Mike - the big complaint among the "listening audience" here is that they were told that when they were "dutiful" they were then told they weren't being spiritual. The "laziness" to which you referred was NOT laziness at all. Many people asked questions and looked more deeply into the Word. BUT they were told that they were relying on their 5 senses and not spiritual at all. And THAT mentality was passed down from the Big Kahuna - vpw. So much for perfection...
  17. VP's books don't need a preacher. "They" have no needs. People and other living things have needs. Since when are we supposed to preach about anyone other than God and His son, Jesus Christ? Mike, your idolotry is showing...
  18. Mike, most of us are prone to gather five senses information. Uhhh... it's the first thing we do as babies. And as I recall, there was a LOT of questions asked about folks. <_< I know what you meant - but I was saying that there were many reasons for staying - including laziness - that were not SOMETHING PERFECT. In fact, I'll add another reason some of us stayed: Some of us stayed because we just couldn't believe that we had made such a huge mistake that took so many years of our lives.
  19. Some of stayed because we were lazy. Some of us stayed because we thought we could make a difference. Some of us stayed because we had all our friends and family in that ministry and thought we had no where else to go. Some of us stayed for fear of being possessed and out of God's will if we left. I'm sure there are more reasons... I stayed until what I really saw what I had previously only thought I had seen... and then the unraveling started...
  20. I do remember that when I had questions like this they were worded : "a truck and a car fall in a vacuum..." "For the purposes of calculation assume..." "What is the speed at the point of impact?..." In other words, I seem to remember the questions being worded to give the student the sense that there was more to learn on the subject. But that was a long time ago...
  21. WTH - There is a BIG difference between a few people that come forward speaking of aliens taking them and experimenting on them and a LOT of women speaking about what happened to them in TWI. MY main point is: Now let me clarify for the Mr. Potatohead with the Darth Vader costume.... Your belief is not required to make what these women say "true." I dare say they would be devastated to sit in a room with you while you go through you rants and smartarse remarks, but then again, they would have to consider the source. I believe it because I know what was asked of me. I believe it because I saw my Corps sister (barely 20 years old, IIRC) cry unstoppable tears when she tried to explain how a leader took her sexually at Corps Advance. I was too young and too naiive at the time to know any better. I told her to tell someone - another leader who we thought we could trust - unfortunately that someone was a person that was not worthy of her trust. So believe what you want to - I don't give a tiny little rat's donkey , what you believe. BUT while you're sitting there all smug and playing dress-up in your StarWars world, take the time to be thankful. Be thankful it wasn't your sister, mother, wife, daughter, niece - that was sought out like a sheep for the slaughter and taken against her will. And after you take some time to be thankful, ask God to forgive you for being amongst the people that would have looked in this woman's tear-filled eyes and told her you didn't believe her. That she must be mistaken or possessed because men of God don't do that. *SPIT* OH - and what difference is it if you were to meet this woman today or twenty-five years ago? If it happened and the pain is still there - would you be any less compassionate - or just as cruel? If you really want to believe he was a perfect MOG, take a potato and put a "VPW MOG" costume on him. You'll have him forever in eternity ready to worship at a moment's notice, just the way you remember him.
  22. No Mike, I don't buy that for an instant. My Bible says that those that hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled. I believe that we stayed too long expecting a buffet from a fast food meal.
  23. Just like the 5 KEYS to Receiving Anything From God? You take it upon yourself to make a lot of assumptions for what God does and how revelation worked in the OT. The "dark spots"? Geez, Mike. I got in in '78 and people were leaving for precisely the stuff that WordWolf mentions.
  24. Don't put words in my mouth, or try to re-write my sentences. I'm an adult and I can speak for myself. You make a big "IF" statement. So you're assuming that your assumption is correct. That is a double assumption and you have not only put words in my mouth, you have also done the same with God. It's as dishonest as doing research and only looking at the facts that prove your theory while disregarding all the rest. When VP wanted leaders to know something - really KNOW it - he made darn sure that we were all gathered in a room and heard what he had to say. He may have done it by letter, or tape, or phone hook-up. He was not shy about making his wishes known. He even would have written it in the monthly newsletter to the Corps. There was never any question about new class, or a monetary gift that required that we ask people for money. We all knew when an Advance was coming. The structure of the Way Tree was used to pass on information - much as a phone tree is used.
