  1. Good Lord! Just how strong was that Kool-aide anyway? How can anyone look at the wake of destruction left behind by TWI and it's ilk and say God even sent a sticky note memo about it, much less a whole pile of revelation? IMO the only thoughts that God put into TWI and it's splinter groups were geared toward their dismantling.

I got some kind of bug that shut down the drivers so that I couldn't get any sound. Norton missed it. My anti-spyware (TrendMicro) missed it. The Norton subscription only has 17 days to go, so I downloaded Avast! I must say, I'm impressed - though it's not hard to impress a non-geek such as myself. The program installed easily, took care of the problem and runs continually in the background while it updates itself. All the computers are getting this baby!
  3. Happy Birthday to an old friend. Twenty-seven years after your first cult meeting - it's good to see you here on the outside!
  4. Nero, Every day is going to be filled with new things to get excited over or discouraged about. Remember that deep inside that face and those random expressions is YOUR Dad. I know a man who had a sudden stroke so severe that the doctors had to take part of his brain and "store" it in his abdominal cavity so that it would remain alive while the swelling went down. While he is not 100% now, he can communicate with his family and he gets around real well with his wheelchair. It was a long road back for him - but he has a life and his children have their dad. Just be there for him and love him. Learn what you can, and let the physical therapists and neurologists do what they know to do. Then take a few hours for yourself - you need some time away as well.
  5. The pleasure was all mine! You and T-Bone gave me a family to be with for the holiday. Those kids of your's are wonderful. Give my love to the pups...
  6. Finger Eleven - "Paralyzer" another song my kids love...
  7. One year I knew I had a Christmas Party I was hosting, so I froze the turkey and gravy and waited. For the party I thawed them out, and cut the turkey in bits, added it to the gravy (the mixture was wet but not soggy.) Then I made a triple batch of pie dough. I cut the dough into squares, added a small amount of the turkey and gravy mixture and folded the dough over in a triangle, using a fork to seal the edges. I baked it for about 20 min at 350*. Voila! Turkey Popovers. I served it with a homemade Cranberry Compote I had and it was a hit. I've also used turkey to make minestrone, Turkey Tetrazini, Turkey Pot Pie... It really depends on my mood and the amount of turkey leftover.
  8. Genuine Maple Syrup...Thank goodness. That other stuff is just from Satan himself.
  9. Thanks Rocky.... I don't brine for 12 hours the way some people do it. I use a ratio of 1 cup Kosher salt to 1 gal water and I brine for two hours. Then I melt 2 sticks of butter and add the juice and zest of a lemon and an orange, a tsp salt, thyme, rosemary. I whisk those together to emulsify them and rub the mixture all over the bird - inside and out. There's a lot more than needed and I don't stuff the bird, so next time I'm going to use about 4 Tbs of this mixture to saute the veggies for the stuffing. BTW - that gravy recipe is what people always rave about...
  10. I always brine my turkeys. On another note: I made my "Cranberry Salad" (AKA "Sin Salad") with half the amount of marshmallows and no pecans (requested by a child) and it was quite tasty.
  11. Georges Seurat? (pointillism impressionist artist)

Yes Brother Strange, I know that - but you never know when you'll need another saucepan... Actually I'm bringing the the buttermilk cornbread for the dressing, the cranberry salad, and the green beans and slivered almonds for Green beans Almondine. Tonto has a well stocked kitchen - of that I have no doubt. I just have a few gadgets I know well and it's easier for me to bring them than to wonder. It's all good. Gotta go pack. MmmmmmwwwAH!
  16. I said, "God is with you through all of this. I'll be there for you as well."
  17. We're in agreement on many points. I have no doubt that the feelings that filled those that left ran the gamut. I said I would only stay as long as I believed God was being honored. I left when that was no longer evident to me. I always knew that God would leave that decision up to me. I feel very uncomfortable now speaking for folks who's experiences I can only repeat and guess about. I've talked to some and I've tried to put myself in their shoes. I'm merely trying to empathize. But at one point it just becomes vanity for me to continue. It seems like the subject of a whole other thread - where those who were kicked out can tell how they felt, with no judgement from those of us that chose to leave. ******************************** Your pen or mine? It occurs to me that if the truth were declared it wouldn't have needed sales tools. Can you imagine Jesus saying, "Look at this scroll, tell me what promises appeal to you the most. Give me your last mite..."
  18. I know there are several threads about Thanksgiving today, but I wanted to start one specifically for this purpose. I'm thankful for my girls - they inspire me daily. I'm thankful for my few but valued friends and my family - they give me strength. I'm thankful for to have a home, health and people who love.
  19. You left on your own volition, did you not, Larry? Those that were kicked out had a different mindset. While you asked God what to do next, many of these folks asked God how they had failed Him. I left voluntarily. I asked the "what next?" questions before even leaving. I'm sure that is part of the process that led to me leaving in the first place. I saw that God was bigger than one ministry and one class. I would guess that for those that were kicked out it felt like a dishonorable discharge - until they realized they had been released from a great prison.
  20. I did post a recipe for Thanksgiving Gravy... Put that on some mashed 'taters....good!
  21. Okay - but I merely cited the very next post, which was posted by the same person. Obviously that was the train of thought that person was following. Have a Happy Thanksgiving - no bumping heads.
  22. We are stronger as a whole than the sum of our parts. I'm thankful to be a part of this community. Thanks to Paw and everyone that makes GSC a place where we can come play, fight, throw food and help clean up. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
