  1. You know John, I've been yelled at -A LOT! I've been the target of the kind of rants you described earlier - A LOT! I'm 50 years old, but I have yet to smack anyone upside the head for saying or doing anything that irritated me. I usually walk away, or I give the person an earful myself. IMO hitting would only escalate an already volatile situation. NOW - perhaps you meant "smack upside the head" figuratively.... as in "get their attention."
  2. WHY is smacking anyone upside the head a solution? I mean - we're talking verbal tirades here, not hand-to-hand combat....
  3. I think the hairline is similiar as well...
  4. Art major? ;) Some would say that I know that stuff because I'm sooooo eveeeeel!
  5. I dunno Jonny. I was there as well and I don't remember it exactly as you did. I do remember a real sense of urgency. We watched "Red Dawn" for inspiration. (Go Wolverines! <_< ) There was an undercurrent of impending danger. We were told how "disaster was avoided" in 1976 - but then again, given that vp made a big deal in pfal of how a prophet would predict how to avoid a disaster, it does seem like the smarter way to have gone. After all, it does look better to "take action" to avoid impending doom that it does to wear running shoes and sweats before drinking Kool-aid to join the mothership just before the (cough) end of the world. ;) When the "doom" didn't come - we all got to say it was because of us. When the mothership didn't come to rescue her followers from the end of the world - well we would have pointed and laughed at their funny outfits, but they wouldn't have noticed.
  6. George - *You're correct *some would argue - but so what? ;)
  7. By the time I graduated from the 11th - the folks on the field had stored up dehydrated food by the truckload. It was rediculous! A family of 4 had a 5 gallon bucket of dried scrambled eggs. That's A LOT of scrambled eggs! Why do I keep thinking that some muckety-muck MOG owned stock in some company that had hiking supplies on their inventory? <_<

    Dad

I"m thrilled! What great news to come back to!
  9. I'm back... "I was justified when I was five" Sorry - I didnt get that I needed to only use the first line... (the above is the first line to the same song though.)
  10. Well said, Paw. John L - it appears to me that you have not really grown or advanced even one little bit. The concept that God would limit Himself to ONE "package," ONE "ministry," ONE MOG is proof of how little you truly know and how selflessly you serve - yourself. You wrote: Maybe the point is just how well he knows you... I remember some abusive times around you and your cronies. Who made you the authority on what holds water? You apparently thought that personal prophecy was holding water to the point that you allowed it to affect your marriage.
  11. "American Pie" by Don McLean "It's the way that I dance, the things that I do"
  12. You mean an all out food fight? Take no prisoners? The gloves come off? Let loose the hellhounds? sounds like fun
  13. THAT may explain the old phrase about monkeys flying out of one's :biglaugh:
  14. Raf - it may not seem like much or even enough, but let us here at GSC be strong for you whenever you need us. You've certainly been there for many. It's good you have your wife and girls - hug them every night!

  17. Having trouble keeping track of them all? :biglaugh:
  18. Personal responsibility for what???? Danny already said it was bait.
  19. Uhhhh.... Yea.... DM never had any opinions... <_< never had any ideas of her own...<_< Ri-i-i-i-ight.... OTOH I guess she had to learn to suppress some of her opinions... This sounds suspiciously like a manager only training a person to the point that they can't replace him or her... I think they call it "rising to the highest level of incompetence." Contrast this with: I heard once that Billy Graham said that if both people in a relationship think exactly alike, then one of them isn't necessary. He encouraged men and women to celebrate the different ways they viewed things and to allow the each other's differences to strengthen the relationship.
