  1. Happy Birthday, George! Live long and Prosper!
  2. Just a few thoughts here: I had a sister-in-law that died from viral meningitis in the early 90's. I'm not sure if herpes was the virus or not, but no mention was made or intimated about anything other than the fact that this was a virus and she would either recover or not. She died within 4 days of entering the hospital. Regarding herpes as an STD, IIRC herpes wasn't recognized as an STD until the 80's. So if HA was sick in the 70's it is highly unlikely that anyone would have made any connection at all. My only observation was that instead of saying giving out what information they had - even after the fact, twi's information-washing machine went into a spin cycle and kept the facts to a minimum. For some reason it was always necessary to make everything a spiritual battle. I'm not sure why a miracle would be any less or more a miracle if the facts were given. A - HA was sick and almost died from viral encephalitis. B - HA was sick and almost died because the devil wanted him dead. BUT - in the end - he was healed with beet juice, molasses, and prayer.... Not that there's anything wrong with that... ;)

"Now let's practice one more time. When I enter the room, everyone rise in unison... 1-2-3...UP!"
  4. They actually are all chanting, "I AM STRONG LIKE BULL!"
  5. The sad part is that you don't even need a farm. A farm makes for a closer analogy to the old TWI - but any old house with some land and a lot of work to be done will do. I watched it happen. A house, some land, before you knew it ABS was being collected to make improvements "so the Word-a-Gawd would move." Lots of man hours were put into finish work, a gargage got turned into a playroom teaching room, extra land was purchased (but no one really knew why) it was sad and sick too. Of course, then people were moved in to help pay for it all....ummm sit at the feet of the masters... You know...maybe that schtick was more effective than we've given it credit. After all, wasn't vp the original master at getting stuff and having someone else pay for it and do the work?
  6. Bow, what I jumped out at me right away was that this has been bothering you for all these years. It makes sense really, since you were the one wronged, and you hadn't really done anything to deserve the treatment you recieved - which most likely added to your anguish over all this. You had no closure. At the time, you were given no recourse - only to "bear the shame" for something you knew you hadn't done. But you here you said this: You felt like a fool, like a bad mom, like a bad wife, like so many awful things about you that had no place in the truth. And you lived all these years as if those awful things were true. YET - that man not only carried NO guilt, he hadn't even noticed or cared about what he had done to you once you confronted him and asked him about his actions. Maybe he had cared long ago. Maybe there was a time that he felt bad about his actions towards you and others. Perhaps he "had dealt with this" sometime in his past and felt like he could lump you in with with a crowd of others. Who knows if it grieved him at any point in time. All I can see is that when he was faced by an individual he could have dealt with he chose not to. I'm glad that even in the face of his callousness you were able to find release. While I see it as "your part in it" was that you were trying to serve God, that "part" somehow had been turned to evil in your eyes. The fact remains that you had a part - and that "part" was keeping you feeling guilty. I'm not sure that any of us would have called you"guilty" but this really was about how you felt about you. I applaud you for seeing this all for what it is.

"And then you take the dough and *TOSS* it up with one hand...." Hillary demonstrates to a crowd how to make pizza from scratch. This came after one member of the audience remembered her comment about baking cookies when Bill was running for President.
  10. I learned Ten-Den something coming out of a den I always remembered "Eighteen - A-Team" - but that's just cuz I'm weird that way....
  11. Hey! I have those shoes! I hope that doesn't mean that I have to sign up....

    Abigail

Happy Birthday Abi! Hope you have sushi for dessert! ;)
  13. I always associated Helen Reddy with Billy Jean King - but I don't know why... New clue: "If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding."
  14. That's what I meant by this line, Ham: There is great value in standing on something that once tripped you up and looking back to see how you missed the thing that tripped you. There is also a whole lot of insight that results in you making sure you won't do that again. IMHO - the only way to get over it is to realize it for what it is and allow it to inform the decisions you make in the future. Honestly... would you even consider signing another Green card - regardless of what was written on it?
  15. Rascal dear, Consider this: twi is already part of your journey - because it's already woven into your past. It's part of your journey just as much as an old stump that once tripped you and caused you to fall, now can be re-visited and used as a seat. Or you can stand on that stump and see new horizons. TWI may not have been in the blueprints - but it ended up in the wallpaper. Thank Goodness wallpaper can be changed....
  16. The cynical side of me says that vp wanted to put one last hook out there for L*ke's daddy and mom. The practical side of me says that L*ke grew up and has a life - maybe because his mom and dad didn't take the hook.
  17. Lots of layers there, SirG... This I get. It may be one of the central reasons why it was so hard for so many to leave. Going from "me" to "we" is a bit of a comfort - though it is a lot of work. Going from "we" back to "me"...lots of pain there, especially if it seems like there isn't another "we" in sight.
  18. "I Am Woman", (hear me roar) I forgot the artist....
  19. So maybe vp expected LCM to treat Luke like the boy-who-would-be-King...and train him up. Like...Josiah was it?
  20. I'm going to address this because my name was mentioned. It takes two sides to derail a thread - one side to throw the bait out and the other to bite it and take the hook. THEN the food fights take the thread so far off course that the original point is so lost it's under the table under a pile of the Blue Plate Special. I'm going to repeat this.... I am all for telling the other side of the story - but it's not "telling" anything when it degrades into arguing and namecalling. If you want to tell the story - TELL IT - please, please, please...stop addressing the hecklers....please.
  21. Weird... I watched that slide show in one window while I played that song "Sheep" by Pink Floyd that waysider posted in the "Song of the Moment" thread. They seemed to fit each other...Kinda like "Dark Side of Oz"
