Yes Tommy! That was it. You can tell that when I'm working I only listen to the radio with half an ear... I did find it on YouTube. Thanks!
  2. "America the Beautiful" as only Ray Charles can sing it!

  4. Yep! A.L. Williams - that's the name of the company at the time. What a fiasco that was. I won't elaborate - but too many folks got used in that endeavor.

I heard part of a pretty good little piece on American the other day. I have tried to look for it on YouTube, but since I was working and only caught part of it I don't know who did it. The only thing I do know is that it was a fairly recent recording by a Canadian man. I don't know if he was a celebrity or not. In it he mentioned that America sends aid all over the world - quickly - yet doesn't receive even an offer to help by other nations when a disaster hits here at home. He cited the Tsunami a few years back and contrasted it to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. It was a great little lesson, and while I'm sure there are some counterpoints to what was said, it did put a lot in perspective. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please either post it or PM me and let me know what it is I'm looking for. :)
  6. I think you're spot on here, Linda. I've seen other posters here at the Cafe be much more irritating that Bumpy with their provoking. I didn't enjoy Bump's posts - but I understood his point. They seemed very poorly timed to me. I didn't really care for his style. I remember when Bumpy first hit GSC with his story of the murders in Norway. For some reason, he wasn't forthcoming with the details and he got a lot of flack. In turn, he got very irritated with folks for questioning him. It took a long time (too long IMHO) to get to the point of his posts on that subject. (My memory on that subject is more of an impression - I haven't gone back and looked at those posts.) Recently, I got very uncomfortable with some of Bumpy's posts that referred to me in the forums. I told him so in a PM and asked him to stop. He apologized and agreed, but was a little too eager to get a bit more personal for my tastes. It wasn't over the top, and may have been an innocent invitation to get to know him better but it was more than I was comfortable with. I didn't report it because I felt it was something I could handle by simply declining the invitation. (Which I did.) The issue ended there. I know that at least one other poster was uncomfortable with Bump's PMs invitations. I don't want to paint the wrong picture here - I don't think he was "trolling for babes," but I do think he pushed the envelope on comfort zones.
  7. As I recall, there was some nonsense about not looking for the Hope if you bought life insurance. All that talk stopped around here when the miniMOG started selling life insurance through some multi-level marketing scheme.
  8. Or you can simply regard that time as part of your past. Or just order a pizza. Not likely... there would be a war over who had the greater truth... WHAT does that mean? It's a goal with no real goal-posts. So in the end, there's a perpetual service that will be demanded. Sorry - but this is a "Pentapuke of Pious Platitudes for Patsies" <_<
  9. From the JAL's letter: He was right at the center of that behavior. I watched it happen - even after CES was formed, I heard of this from friends who were involved in CES - and not bitter people - just people who thought everything was hunky dory. I'll add to WW's answer that DWBH has not started a new ministry and has not gone trolling for rubes here at GSC. He's engaged in open dialogue. The differences in how they approach people are entirely different.
  10. Then would you mind telling GWB where he is...
  11. Ha! Tonto, you're not far from what I was thinking... I was going to say that like the Pied Piper of Hamelin, he wanted one of two things - our money or our children. Now I'll let the image of JAL in tights and goofy pointy shoes sink in... Like I said before... my answer isn't very kind.
  12. Sorry - I'm coming up blank for clues... If you're tired of waiting, someone else take it.
  13. OM - I think the main thing to consider is that if you take a tiger and paint over 26 of it's stripes, you still have a tiger with a few stripes missing and not a kitty-cat. The core of the thing is still the same, as is evidenced in JAL's letter. There is still an underlying arrogance that claims to "have it all." This idea of a "package" stings of a marketing tool. I've heard it before. You have to ask yourself about the timing of the thing and the words that are used. I think JAL wanted this letter to find it's way to GSC. I think he counted on it. (Which, if true would mean that once again he used people to do the work for him instead of posting here himself.) I believe it's his way of getting his message out and he's using any means possible. Afterall, not only was the podcast "Cutting Through the Fog" aired recently, V2P2 is on the rise in the house of WC2... I still have to ask myself, "Why would JAL want to mobilize those who were involved with TWI. Why not look for "young, fresh blood"? Why go after a group of people now entering their retirement years?" After all, CES/STFI is approximately 20 years old now. They should have grown far beyond the need to troll for more marks... err... people from a dead and corrupt cult machine. I'll let that question settle in a bit - my own answer is admittedly not very kind. Oh, and wishing him well doesn't have to be exclusive to calling him on being dishonest.
  14. Sorry for the delay... This one could be fun: "Excuse me a moment, but there's something climbing up your table," and with on loud Worraworraworraworraworra he jumped at the end of the tablecloth, pulled it to the ground, wrapped himself up in it three times, rolled to the other end of the room, and, after a terrible struggle, got his head into the daylight again, and said cheerfully: "Have I won?"
  15. I glanced over that list of differences. What all this tells me is there still is not enough of a difference. It's like saying, "We don't have a lion, we have a tiger. Let us list for you the differences between them for you..." The trouble is that both the lion and the tiger will kill you and feed you to their young.
  16. What I want to know is this... if the "doctrine is soooo sound, why did they allow it to give way to nose-spiders? why did JAL allow people to tell him how to treat his wife (and ex-wife)? Why does he need to gather up ex-TWI folks? Good Lord! This could easily turn into a carnival House of STFI Horrors: First turn - Nose-spiders (need a tissue?) Second turn - JALvis by himself in a dark room - a black light comes on and all you can see are his teeth - glowing - saying, "We left Egypt and we need ummmm ...took all your...ummmmm...the gold." Third turn - Rows and rows and rows of chairs and the only way out is with this string...
  17. I'll apologize for the odd humor in advance, but all I can think of is JAL dressed up like Smokey the Bear... "Only YOU can prevent forest fires!... with the truth you were taught." Seems to me they're mixing the Kool-aide a little strong around there... <_<
  18. There ya go... changing the point again. I asked: And you answered: My point is that you *just may* still be filtering what you read through PLAF-colored glasses. And I presented it as a possibility- not an accusation. ("If... then" is a conditional phrase.) I'll leave the rest of your statement for another thread since it doesn't apply to me or most of the posts I've read.
  19. I agree bfh. That's exactly what struck me. Here's my question: IF STFI is soooooo great, why oh why do they need to feed on the carrion of a dead cult? If they've got this "great package" why do they need to conjure up the memory of der Victoid? I can hear the violins starting up in the background... *sniff, sniff* we need money... God needs YOU! Come help us grow! PUKE
  20. Agreed mstar. I skimmed the letters - I couldn't make myself read them in their entirety. They still read like infomercial scripts, IMHO. "TWI was great! And NOW we have the new, the improved, the best of the best..." "BUT WAIT! If you act NOW you'll receive not one but TWO sets of Ginsu knives - at no extra charge!" Also this jumped out at me: Ummmmm... wasn't JAL one who practiced this error himself? I'm sorry. I'm just not interested in this "package."
  21. Lindy - I think the wonderful thing about the way this discussion is going is that each party is talking about what they do or do not believe. Geisha is speaking to the doctrine she has internalized. While I read a lot of "this is what I believe," I don't read a lot of "so you should believe the same as I do or you're damned to hell." It's interesting to me that the thread turned from "The Law of Believing" to "What I believe..." IMHO- this is a much better thread for the change.
  22. I only have a few minutes, (home on a lunch break) but a cursory reading sent up some major red flags. It sounds like he's doing damage control. This quote seemed odd to me: Is the same letter that JAL penned with JS, RD and some others? If so then he's being dishonest.
