  1. Oh well - then I'd kinda lose my mind Drive it away!
  2. Another observation I had was that by encouraging the "lock-box" and casting such a dark light on psychologists, psychiatrists and other forms of truly competent and legitimate counselors, der victoid basically put any woman (or man) seeking help in a no-win situation. He cut them off at the knees. Add to that, that as time passed, more and more clergy were involved and you have what they call here in the South a "good ole boy" system. Victims could very easily feel cornered. They couldn't go up the ranks or down. They couldn't go outside the household. One more thing - Psychology and psychiatry were "born in a seance" but tricky vic allowed Competent to Counsel to be taught in rez. To me, that smacks as wanting to stack the deck in his favor.
  3. I was corps. My only "training" was from the in rez class "Competent to Counsel." Looking back it strikes me how inadequate that was. Training? Training? From a two week class with no practicum? (Or was that supposed to be our interim year?) If I understand the doctor/patient confidentiality relationship correctly, a doctor is bound by an oath (and the law) to keep a patient's details private and confidential. Same goes for therapeutic health professionals and attorneys. The "relationship" being referred to is legal and binding. How do you suppose Vic would have been taken to court? Neither the clergy nor the professionals had any legal standing in the matter. They could not have initiated a suit. Add to that the fact that they had the trust of these women (and some men I presume.) It's hard enough to get a rape victim to speak up and testify. How much harder would it be if that meant the victim were to go up against a man she called her Father in der verd," or MOG? Much much harder if she believed that speaking up would win her the title, "possessed." I don't know who you mean by "the thirteen" (were they a tribe?) but I'm fairly certain your list includes at least one man who admitted later on that he was guilty of the sexual stuff. Just how does he go to court to sue vp if he's partaken in his wrongdoing? Regarding warning folks out on the field?- How? Using the "Way Phone Tree"? How would this information get back through the ranks without being sanitized? How many "dirty hands" would it have passed through before it hit an area?
  4. You mean the pyramid shaped hats made of aluminum foil aren't enough? What am I going to do with all the ones I got? Geez! BTW - how does twi fit the sheep in the lightbulbs?
  5. Screwing in lightbulbs? How do they get in the lightbulbs?

  7. Hey there JavaJane! I've seen you around the cafe, but haven't gotten to sit down and have a cup with you. Come visit the Art Thread in Open sometime - I'll have to dig it out of oblivion. Regarding the mook - I see it as something much sicker. He was going for a false and hollow sense of leadership and power. Like a dog pee-ing on everything in sight and saying, "Hey! Hey! Hey! I OWN this! I'm the big dog. Look at me. Woof!" But all it takes is another dog peeing on that same spot to show him who's boss. Wasn't the CC who didn't support his power play? Bigger dog - stronger scent. (Thank goodness in this case that PP didn't support him.)
  8. WB - It's hard to say without being there and knowing the mook. My first impression of that scenario is that he knew she was more capable than he, so he tried to gain respect by overpowering her anyway he could.
  9. WB- I think the control issue may not have been entirely about you. You were certainly involved - a *bonus* if you will in his mind. I think it's entirely possible that he was trying to use you to control his wife and put her in her place.

If we all had the same perspective there would be no need for all but one poster. The rest of us would just get to read and shake our heads in agreement. Lots of "YUP" posts.

I'm guilty of getting too deep in the fray. In the last day I decided to read more and post very little. The arguments still jump to mind as do the sarcastic quips that I'd write if I bothered to post. What I've found is that the arguments continue without me, so they don't need me fueling them more. Furthermore, I've found that I have absolutely no ability to "help the situation." The discussions don't become polarized because we share a TWI history. They becomes polarized because we are people. Empathy, kindness, sympathy - even these words with the best of intentions can sometimes do damage. What I consider to be empathy another can perceive as an insult. Maybe it's because we can't hear inflection or look in each other's eyes - I don't know. I can say that in the last few months I've deleted more posts before hitting the "Reply" button than I've posted. I just read it, ask myself if what I say really matters and "Delete" seems to be the thing to do. And with all that I still had my fair share of quips. Shoot me now.
  12. This one surprised me:
  13. A song from my past:
  14. Krys - this last part of the story is heartbreaking for sure. TWI stole - stole from you son and his ex. What's worst - it appears they were trying to break them. I'm so glad that your son is well - it speaks highly of how you raised him. Your DIL, on the other hand was humiliated down to her soul. Has Linder ever called your son and apologized? Has he asked for forgiveness? (In case you can't tell - my sarcasm meter is in the red zone here.) I wonder if he's read your account here and made excuses for his behaviour. Do you think he has this "proverb" on the wall of his office: "If you didn't see me, I didn't do it." Now here's an interesting thought. Linder is still head of security, Rosie is still the president. The Moneyhands are still there, along with so many others. I wonder how different TWI really is at it's core if these same miscreants are at the helm.
  15. Maybe it should have been called, "Jocky Horry of the Spirit"
  16. So it was about bisecting a marriage. He could have as many women as he wanted- but not his wife... She could *belong* to many men - but not her husband... And all the while they would look like the perfect power couple.
  17. The sick thing is... Krys - had your son accepted LoytoyBoy's offer, he most likely would have been ordained... THAT idea alone should make anyone's skin crawl...
  18. Suits? If I recall correctly, the suits came in to lend legitimacy and to *get* the folks with the big bucks. Hippies were fine for enthusiasm, but it takes $,$$$,$$$,$$$ to run a business. Let's face it, TWI was a business and not a ministry.
  19. Krys - I was using a bit of my NY sarcasm. Loytoyboy saw he was about to lose control of a filly in his stable. I'm sure he had to call up the reinforcements. I can almost "hear" him making an entry in his journal, "Dear VP and me, Today I had to do the same thing I saw my father in the verd do time after time..." As for your son- the way I see it, he was refusing to play the game, and refusing to be just another victim. ***************************** BTW - I just wanted to comment on how nice it has been to get to hear your story without any interruptions from anyone who would try to detract from it I wish a lot of threads were this *quiet.*
  20. For the record, you are talking simple carbohydrates and not complex? And favoring whole grain over processed grain?
