This was a really good movie! Someone must've seen it. I'll try one last quote then resort to shameless hints. "If you want to believe in something, believe in it. Just because something isn't true, that's no reason you can't believe in it…Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in most." "If my mum calls, can we hear the telephone out here?" "Don't have one." "No telephone?!" "Is it okay if I go inside and watch television?" "Ain't got one." "No television?!" "What do you do?" "You sleep up there." "In the tower." "Hey... we don't know nothing about kids." "So if you need something..." "Find it yourself." "Or better yet, learn to do without. "We're both getting old." "Fixing to die any time." "So if we kick off in the middle of the night, you're on your own." "Think how good all these vegetables are going to taste. Peas, beans, squash, tomatoes." "Yeah." "What's this row?" "Beets." "Beets?" "And what about this row?" "Potatoes." "Potatoes?" "Yeah." Wait one damn minute here. What's this row here?" "Tomatoes." "Tomatoes?" "Yeah." "That's lettuce, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, bok choy." "Bok Choy? What is that?" "Chinese cabbage." "Hey, that row looks right." "Yeah, well, this is corn!" "All those seeds did look alike, come to think of it." "Yeah, like corn." "Boy... that seed salesman sure saw us coming." "No, saw you coming." "Corn, corn, corn! Nothing but corn. Corn. Corn." "Hub and Garth didn't rob any banks. They were in Africa." "Africa!" "Oh, Walter, be serious." "Really! They were shanghaied into the Foreign Legion, and had adventures for years. They couldn't have robbed any banks!" "Come on, pal. You don't believe all that, do you?"

Is anyone really gonna go to that thing? I mean, good food, fun, music and dancing... Who wants that?

It was a common story around twi that vp had injured his eyes in the bright lights during filming PLAF. That was long long before anything else regarding the removal of his eyes. (I think it was to make him look like some half martyr/half superMOG in the eyes of us half-wits.) That story and the fishy fish-hook story were most likely used to cover for his melanoma. While it's entirely possible that JRR believed that story - it doesn't mean that he didn't spread a lie - albeit unbeknownst to him. It's actually quite ridiculous how many hoops these mooks jumped through to maintain the semblance of holiness. It's especially embarrassing in light of the fact that it was touted that as a research ministry the "doctrine" would change as more was learned.

Geez - the opening post asked about his attitude and manner of being. I see a LOT of similarities to his approach towards people and that of the Nazi party. And although he allowed "Jews" to move up through his ranks - remember that in his eyes they were't really Jews anymore - they were sanitized. Back then I never understood why Myth of the Six Million was required reading to enter the Corps. It didn't exactly fit the bill for a "Christian Leadership training program." (Or did it.... *insert evil laugh here*) Ever wonder how he even came across that book?

 Nah - dancing is good for the... ahem... soul.

This almost seems like a rhetorical question. Why? Well - he was CG after all. I'd ask myself some questions in light of the events we now know followed POP: What did POP accomplish for CG? Who was at the top of the food chain because of POP? Did POP "heal" twi or tear it down even further? What did CG stand to gain from POP? What did he stand to lose without POP? Was POP effective for CG's purposes? Lastly - follow the money. If CG had come out and stated that vp died of cancer - well you know what would have happened. BUT - tell everyone he didn't have the will to fight for life - and you've got a major manipulation tool. Then it became easy to push people out. All he had to do was say they were possessed or not believing or... It was mass M&A. Later LCM tried it his way - only to see more leave in droves. Why did the bus driver cross the pond? Twasn't just to get to the other side.
