A much younger Kathy Bates. I also think that Selma Hayek could do a good job. She played Frida Kahlo - She wouldn't need a uni-brow to play me so the job shold be a cinch. If she were an actress, Joy Behar (from The View) would also do well. Need the Italian physical with a sense of humor

Ho, Ho, Ho maybe we should have called him a HOE! I wonder how many used things he received and gave. He certainly knew how to use people - maybe that was his special gift UGHHHHHH

Good point totw - but if he truly is young...then he's also arrogant and trying to play all of us against ourselves - and not doing very well at it. he might not even be one person - could be two or three different people on the same computer. TWi might not be using him - this could be voluntary - one of those young folk at twi.... He might not even be young. Might be an adult that is really trying hard to seem like a teenager. I've known 19 year olds who are better spellers and do a better job of arguing a point. just some thoughts here

If that dog that David posted were at twi I would go, but just so that I could rescue that dog and keep it out of the kitchen and off the menu.
-
I actually sometimes wonder if he isn't still with twi. He acts a lot like a spy.

Did we lose Raf again?

What does THAT mean???? TWI had no business in that decision at all. Why did twi even have to get involved? This was a Christian organization ( or so they said) not a Nazi youth camp. Oh and btw a women can't get herself pregnant. It takes amale to do that - and all too often that male was married to another woman. Just in case you forgot....

rascal - I'm sorry, you have misunderstood my comments. The "tempest in a teacup" I refer to is the other side of the argument. Why bring up a brochure that has no authority or control anymore. I never meant to imply that your personal tragedy was a minimal thing. Sorry for not being more clear. I cannot even begin to imagine how that was presented to you in lcm's letter. You must have felt backed up against a wall. Of course, we all know that twi had already laid the groundwork to make abortion an "easy" thing. That's another thread I fear. For the record - I was only pressured by lcm once - in a very nonconsequential matter. I didn't do what he told me. that must be why I wasn't considered a very good leader.....oh well.

rascal, I hear what you are saying. My point is to everyone else out there that the Corps was meant to be training for service ( as stated) that service was SUPPOSED to be determined by the desires and abilitites of each individual. I always understood that I could refuse an assignment ( though I never tried.) Oldies, you're usually much more polite - I'm surprised. That any Christian leader would suggest an abortion is despicable. I think it points to the need for funds in the form of tuition. Rascal, I'm sure you didn't have that abortion. So yes, you had a choice in that respect - but I can also see how that came with a lot of furrowed brows and whispering behind your back regarding your commitment. ( and why was that ever even an issue in the first place??? Lcm had no place in that decision.) We are talking about the mid eighties after all....right? Sometimes the choices don't realy feel like choices, do they? hey, we're out now and still serving....so why not celebrate that instead of argue over some words in a brochure that was never worth the paper it was printed on. Our lives were important, the service we bring is still important, the abuses are in the past and we can't change them, we can only take back our lives from this point forward. Seems like another "tempest in a teacup" if you ask me.... I am not making light of any horrible experiences, I hope is doesn't come across as such.

I was always told that my desire and ability came first. This was in Corps recruitment as well and during residence. Why is this so hard????

pond,I joined the corps because I wanted to serve God. I was young and had only been in twi one year. I didn't believe that it was impossible to serve God withouth going into the corps - I just believed that is what God wanted for ME. I wans't looking for glory - I believed the whole "doulos" teaching and that to serve meant that I would be second or third or fourth in line. I never expected to have to move every 3-5 years. I left before the whole "can't buy a house" doctrine rolled in - but that would have been a major red flag for me. Heck i heard war stories that wives in this area were judged on whether or not they were godly women by whether or not they went and had French nails done every two -three weeks - that was from someone who lived through it! Did a competition exist in the ranks - I think so - but not everyone bought into it. I didn't. (I'm sure that I wasn't the only one.) When I realized that I wasn't into that kind of competition - I just became happy to serve without titles. That was what made it so easy for me to leave the corps and twi when lcm's letter arrived. They were needy because twi made it nearly impossible for them to live well. Further twi sent out mixed messages. Corps were servants - but they were to expect help from the people they were around. So if they were the most needy - why would anyone want to join???? Crasy huh?

OOOOhhhhhh Goodie! No more replies! You know, this started out by me wanting to just give you a heads up that it's not such a wise idea to alienate people when having a discussion in a DISCUSSION FORUM. I didn't insult you in the second post. I made an accurate observation - one which could be fixed if you only used the spell checker and read over your post before you added the reply. I assume you are smart and capable of doing that. That isn't an insult. There is a further implication - but I won't make it so that I won't insult you. So according to YOUR "war zone" analogy. If someone were to see you lying in a foxhole and wanted to give you a glass of water they become the enemy? I was hoping to get more of the conversations ON your topic! Instead of the quality of your parents. ( Which I felt was uncalled for.) You dragged the subject even further more off your beloved topic. Maybe you should berate yourself for a few posts. BTW doesn't the Bible say " A soft answer turneth away wrath?" (HInt - it does - in Proverbs.) Oh, and another point in case you've forgotten, the OT is for our learning - you (we all) can read it and learn from it. The only time to not look at the OT over the NT is when God has clearly changed things ( as in the Law being fulfilled by Jesus Christ.) Seems that although you believe that vpw was a great leader - he isn't esteemed highly enough for you to have taken his class very seriously. I at least think that a lot of the research tools were sound. That doesn't make him a good leader, just a good communicator. You can be a topic Nazi, control freak if you want to...you're not worth my time.

I didn't vote. It wasn't a long quote - only two verses. Why does that seem long to you? Hmmmmmm Your spelling is still atrocious. Your post(s) are not that cut throat - and you haven't learned when to pick your battles. You come across as someone who is trying to prove himself. Someone who is trying to belong. Someone who is trying to act tough so that everyone will respect him. It didn't work in High School and it won't work here. There's no spin, there's no lift, there's no real depth. I don't watch CNN. I think all the media is spin - just which direction do you want to spin it?

I know, I know, there is another line about a lifetime of Christian service. We've dealt with that already. "...Way Corps go forth to serve in areas of concern, interest and need" That line just describes what was to happen after graduation. "Where they serve depends on their desire, ability, and the concerns of the ministry." So, ex10 and her hubby should have been able to go to school and hold Twig. That was their desire, and what they felt was necessary to increase their ability. They had no desire to run a branch or to give up college dreams. This reminds me of the ancedote that was in the class which ends with the line,"God didn't tell you to tell me to go do... (that - whatever) He told YOU to go do it!" Remember in the teaching about Paul going to Jerusalem ( I think that was the one) the point is made that God will speak to YOU first, then and only if you are not listening will He have to tell someone else. The problem was that twi didn't believe what they themselves taught. They changed that to say that they had to tell everyone what to do and what God wanted for their lives. Soory you got derailed all those years ago, ex10. I'm glad that you left twi and got your lives on track. Glad that you're in Texas!!!!

So - ckmkeon - What is classic about you? I wonder, why you see it necessary to jab at every individual. Tell me - how do you choose between the many evils? Then, how do you reconcile it with, "judge not lest ye be judged."???? You find it a bad thing because I won't play your game of quick judgements - or so that is how it seems. Besides, you haven't defined you perameters well. Are they "worse" because they were evil? Because they haven't helped twi very much? Or maybe because they make a nice game for you. Had you not put the Pope in there, I would have voted that they were all equally bad - even though they were all bad in different ways. I venture to say that a lot of people would have voted the same way. Oh, and I'm not from Texas - I only live there. what is it that the Bible says in Proverbs? oh yea: Ecc 5:2,3 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon the earth: therefore let thy words be few. For a dream cometh through the multitude of business: and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words. So, no - I will not answer your quiz. You have made it so that it is almost impossible to answer fairly. On top of that, you have proven over and over again that you are not really interested in what people here have to say. Oh and by the way, if you're going to insult people regularly, you might want to make sure that your own spelling and grammar are impeccable. Right now I'd say that the person responsible for teaching you how to write did a poor job. But that might just be because you write hastily to get the insult written as quickly as possible - then press "Add Reply" before you proof read.

very good! I applaude you , Raf

I'm pretty sure that that teaching was read so that it could be approved before it was given. I'll bet money on the fact that if he had deviatied in the least - he would have gotten chewed out later. BTW - some of the greatest teachings I have ver heard were the ones wher the person said that they had something planned but they were gong to get rid of the notes and teach what Father was telling to teach instead... Guess that won't be happening anytime soon in New Knoxville. Talk about grieving the holy spirit...

So, I might be missing an important clue here but.... Isn't it possible that a lifetime of CHRISTIAN service can be had without a lifetme of TWI service? When I went into the 10th corps that is what I thought. Now the implication is and was that to serve God you would serve twi. All the corps I knew were limb, branch, area leaders, many of them ordained. But, I thought that those leadership positions were a result of greater commitment, not that there would be no choices in assignments later on. The simple truth was, that for me, I just wanted to get into the corps, they could have told me anything and I would have nodded my head and signed up - I truly believed that that is what God wanted me to do. I can only assume that since we can't go back in time and read each and every person's mind, or carefully see what they saw and read, this si really pretty subjective. We have to take each person at their word regarding what they thought they were getting themselves into. WW was right in that he said that some corps went back to college - and for a time the ministry applauded that. ( At least that is what we heard.) Especially is the person went back to college to study business, or Greek - because twi saw that as something they could use to their advantage down the road.
-
ckmkeon - Do you really want to mimic the awful things that twi became infamous for? You can say, "They started it." I'll say that you can end it now. Your attitude is making you an easy target for all the ridicule. Basically, you've become and easy mark. I haven't voted - because I can't seem to choose who's the worst. I only know that I can eliminate the Pope. No ill intent here - just some friendly advice.

I see it as more than that ( and I always have.) Once the adversary lost complete control over the Gentiles "all heaven could break lose." in the OT, even though Gentiles were blessed by God, they had no inheritance. Now, they could be active participants in God's plan. (Eph 2:1-7) Gentiles were once stuck in Satan's realm (without God and without hope in this world) now they could be gathered together in Christ. ( And I'm not only referring to the "gathering together) Eph 3:3-6 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; ( as I wrote afore in a few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revelaed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Col 1:25-27 Whereof I am made a minister, accordng to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Eph 1:9-12 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom we also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. Just thought we should have God's word in there as well... -
