For the first clue - think about a sound that describes the look on his face - for the second pic - use the second half of the work I think that's enough

PFAL: An Unorthodox Translation
doojable replied to Tom Strange's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
I can answer these questions but I'm not sure I will. I know what the class says but I'm never sure how you're going to interpret the class. You say that the Bible is not the Word of God whilr Dr said that the Bible contained the revealed Word and will of God. Forgive me for not entering in here. -
I'm not sure that checking propeties will help much - but some - the first one is probably the toughest.

CK - plainly put - since your dad was in the Family Corps - he knows how to research - and had to write a research paper. He should know how to both put forth a thesis and how to write up the pros and cons to support it. Ask him how to do this. Ask him how to do a word study - so that you can get a working knowledge of the word or words in a verse. As long as you don't know this information - you really aren't prepared to go into a study of a verse on this forum. Happy studying.

Mike, Sorry but if this quote of your's was anymore of a straw man argument it would be singing, "If I Only Had a Brain!" -
Rhino - I didn't get "skycap" right off the bat. I had to think about various synonyms because I knew he wasn't a conductor. so: Sky Nipples and the Prince Of Tomorrow? for the record - I never heard that you couldn't use the properties button. I have used it in the past - but I won't anymore - can we end that now and play?????
-
I truly don't know this movie - but I can list the pics - i'll wait. I've learned that you all use Bo Derek because she had so many skimpy bathing suits in the movie "Ten" so she fits for "ten, then, etc." Andy McDowell - again - a reason for a boob shot - but her name goes for "and the" because almost no one knows too many of the movies she's been in. So, I've learned y'alls code for some of this stuff. ok looks like - is this even a movie??? (sky) captain (cap-ten) and the (andy) Prince (fingerprint) of (dove) tomorrow (Tom Murrow) Sky Captain and the Prince of Tomorrow??????" never heard of it or anything like it - but I can't check cuz it's against the rules... hey Rhino - "lawn" wasn't in those properties - it was "turf" did that on purpose

Mike, I have read a lot of Tom's posts and I just simply do not agree. You are coming off as arrogant here. Sorry - but that's how I see it. YOu tell Tom that You are calling the shots and not him......Wow! I can't even begin to tell you how that sets my nerves on edge. I ran this all by my hubby - the lawyer. He seems to think that with as much thought as you've put into the subject, that you ought to be able to give people a reason to do what you say. Dr did this. You seem to want to get "your message" out - but you limit folks so much...almost like you're setting yourself up to fail... Think about this: I don't know if there are ANY records in the Bible of men who lead God's people, then went on to betray God's people, then abuse God's people; -then God says - "Oh BTW, his message was a good one, You should listen to it (him)." David - nope - he repented. And he paid a big price for his indescretions - Israel ended up really in the toilet by the time his grandson Rehoboam came on the scene - it was a looooooooong time before Israel was able to receive the Word again - and it obviously wasn't David doing the speaking - nor was it really David's message. Paul - nope -he got he message after he changed and never looked back. My main objection is and will remain that if God were to have wanted to really breath this message into a man - he would not have chosen someone who He knew in His foreknowlege would become so distasteful, so difficult to believe and trust. This leads me to believe that either Pfal wasn't really god-breathed - and God would not ask US to go back to it if it were. Its' still too soon, too raw. You know that even in your own life there are people that you would not want to have to "listen to" - even after all these years.....the wounds run too deep. I know you think we should move on from this point - but it seems like the starting point. Can't move on to "Go" and collect $200 without this point being really taken care of. You seem to ignore the fact that God doesn't send the same message or the same messenger to the people that were hurt by it in the first place. I heard that in the Corps. So why would God ask any of us grads to return to the teachings of a man that has proven to be questionable at best? A man that really harmed many - physically and emotionally and spiritually? This is not in keeping with Godly-logic. God is not a fool, nor is he ignorant. -
OK, so my kids and I have enjoyed that new song "Jesus Take the Wheel," by last year's American Idol winner - (her name eludes me right now.) For those of you who don't know the song it is about a woman that almost gets in a car wreck and then cries out, "Jesus take the wheel!" Now all this would seem hokey to me if I hadn't heard a story almost exactly like it and then lived a very similiar story myself nearly ten years later. First story: A woman I knew in the 10th corps -) I can't recall her name but she had been with the limb in Washington and she herself was from Yakoma, Washington) was driving on a road that I can only describe as being a mountain road. The snow was coming down pretty hard and before she knew it she was losing control of her car. She prayed and called out for God to help her. God showed her two "visions." On the one side was the drop-off with a giant hand ready to catch her. On the other side was the wall of the side of the moutain with another hand ready to keep her from crashing. She looked, took it all in in the instant of time you get in these circumstances and prayed. "Father, I can't believe for the drop-off. I'll take the wall." Almost immediately, as if the car was following orders, the car headed for the side of the mountain. She opened her eyes and saw that she was in a snowbank, safe. Second story - my own, ten years later. I had already left TWI (so take THAT LCM!!) and I was driving home from Arlington(east) to Fort Worth(west). It was early summer and about 6 PM, and the sun was in my eyes. As I entered the mixmaster - that most dreaded of all places at rushour, the car in front of me slowed down suddenly. I was tired, I wasn't asleep at the wheel, but I was drowsy for sure. I over-reacted and hit the brakes. My car skidded and started to spin! I put my head down to brace myself for impact. This was rushour! Cars wer passing me at seventy miles an hour and I almost fully expected to be on the news that evening - and in the obituary the next day. Well the car spun and came to a stop in the next lane, facing the wrong way! The engine had died due to the spin-out. I looked up and there was an old man in his pickup truck, parked right in front of me - protecting me from oncoming traffic! I realized first how lucky I was, then that I had start the car and turn around. I looked into his eyes. He signalled me to let me know when I could back up and turn around. I had no way to thank him other than to mouth the words to him from over my steering wheel. I have frequently thought of that day. I still think he was an angel - even if he wasn't a spirit-being. So - any of you have any stories of close calls. So close that you can only credit God with your survival? Please keep scepticism to the other threads. dooj

Fragolino - great!!!!! had it at my borther's wedding in Sicily last Easter season. Grappa - well if I has to say anything at all I would say, "Grappa is crappa!" too bittter - but they love it there - they believe that the bitters either prepare you for a big meal or helps you digest a big meal (my Dad's imput here.) So Mark - what about Limoncello? I have a recipe and I want to know if its worth it. It's not a wine but one woman here raves about it.

No, no, Tom. I’m the one asking questions here. I need to gage how much background you need to understand my answer. You’re distancing yourself even farther from me by answering my questions with a question or your own. Mike, Wasn't it a favorite device of Jesus' to answer a question with a question? Also, I can't find the post right now - but more than once you have said something to Tom to the effect him "interrupting you with his questions." I fail to see how this works in the thread/forum format. In verbal converstation it is clear when someone is being interrupted because one can hear the voice. But, in this format once a post has been made the next poster is free to add, ask, debate, mock ( how I hate that!) and basically - continue the thread. Since we cannot read your mind, we do not know where you are wanting the conversation to go, if there are questions they will get asked. You don't have to answer them right away - you can say that you will answer after making a point - but there is no such thing as interrupting - unless it is off topic - perhaps like I am right now. Sorry. I'll crawl back in my hole for a while. -
oops!!!! I'm sorry - I meant the FIRST PICTURE - but it was the second clue I gave - sorry!!!
-
yes Tom - but I was just NORTH OF FORT WORTH. That's what took me aback. But, you're in good company - hubby said the same thing you did. And I answered him the same way I answered you. I'll have to find out that name of that vineyard. Oeno - I just bought three of the wines on your list - i'll get back to you on them.
-
This movie is old old old. Think "gumshoes" - in other words the movie was not in the past 20 or 30 years. for the second clue - don't think color, think "front of your house."

Hey oenophile one more thing, I was driving up 35 today on my way to 121 and I saw rows and rows and rows and rows of grape vines! They had just been started, it seemed, but there was a sign about it being a vineyard. Just seemed strange to be so close to the freeway. I wonder if that will negativley affect the grapes or the resulting wine.
-
I like La Crema Pinot Noir, Also, Oenophile told me about that Paralell 45 - and we bought some - excellent wine! Before meeting oenophile I went to the liquor store around the corner from us. The owner is a wine expert. Whenver we are visiting someone we tell him what the food will be and our price range - and he recommends a wine - haven't gotten a bad one since! Now oenophile. I just read an article in hubby Texas Law magazine about a lawyer who also writes for two newspapers about wines. She focuses on the $15 and under range and tries to take the mystery out of wine. I think you might be good at this in your area. Oh what she says about burgundies: "If you love burgundies, I hope you can afford them." LOL
